(Razzle that was epic!)

Rayden Thorn:

I smiled at Sheara as she tried her best to comfort Reva, who had pulled away from me and was hugging the girl. I stood up slowly, both my legs stiff form sitting so long. I stretched, yawned, and was about to say something, when Sheara looked around sharply at Poca. The small animal was rubbing her head along the ground and pawing at her ears painfully.

“What's wrong with her?” I asked but before she could answer I heard it, a high pitched buzzing, like a misquote. It is a disorienting sound, I shake my head. Reva looks around

“What is that-” she doesn't finish as Poca and Sheara both scream and fall to the ground, senseless. Both Reva and I make a rush at her but the sound becomes a thousand times louder. I clutch at my ears as my sense of balance is thrown completely and I fall. Dante scream roars in agony and the fire erupts violently, throwing up huge tongues of blue and red flame.

Reva and Sheara are both convulsing at the noise, both their faces twisted in pain. I drag myself over to them, tying to shield them from the sparks, the sound, but my own senses are fast failing me. My ears feel strange, my hands come away wet with blood.

Everything is dancing swimmingly before my eyes as the darkness consumes me. I wondered if this is it- am I dying for real this time?

But to my own surprise my last coherent thought was- Really? I'm already coughing blood, don't you think this is a little much?

(Sorry it took me so long to get this up. Rayden and Davie were having a death struggle over me and Razzles computers.)

I was still smiling a little as Sheara went back to Poca, and I watched her go with a fond feeling. She really was a blessing to us. Something started buzzing in my ear, an annoying sound, and I shook my head, trying to get rid of it. Something had to be making the sound, the question was what?

Sheara and Poca both collapse to the ground, holding their ears and started shaking, as if they had no control any longer.

"What is that-" I started, but I never got the chance to finish because the sound was suddenly blaring in my ears. It was horrible- high pitched and painful. If felt like I had a wound in my head that was festering and moving constantly! I let out a shriek as my legs failed me, and curled into the tightest ball I could, silently begging it to stop. Darsor yowled in pain and shifted to his weapon form, cut off from me. It was easier for him there, and I turned my attention to Rayden. He was crawling over to Sheara in a last attempt to protect her. His ears were bleeding and suddenly his eyes rolled back into his head. My own eyes widened, and I reached out, but suddenly the sound was even louder and I was thrust into blackness.

Niyah, wake up. Eisen murmers.
Hmm?
Wake up.
Why on earth would I do that?
Hurry, something doesn't feel right. The wind seems, itchy.
The wind, Eisen, You woke me up because of the wind?
Well...
his words were cut off by a screech. Niyah sat up, completely awake, but it was all for not. Before she even had a chance, she was out like a light, her body thrashing against the earth in pain. The last thing she saw was the others. Falling to the earth as well.

Coming awake was painful and awful. It wasn't anything like when one simply drifts awake. But it also was nothing like when one is just suddenly awake. It was horrible, and the most agonizing thing I ever felt. Pain was radiating into me, penetrating deeper and deeper into my soul and growing stronger by the second. It moved in surges, ever strengthening, until the pain when I was awake was much smaller than that when I was not and I was thrown into conscious thought. Slowly, I opened my gritty, tired eyes and looked at the dirt and grass spread before me. My shoulder was burning. My ears ached with remembered pain. Sounds were muted, like I lost much of my hearing.

Across from me Rayden was lying, he could have been sleeping, if he wasn't twisted in such an uncomfortable looking fashion. Dried blood was on the ear of his that I could see and his face was in the dirt, and I struggled to remember what happened. How did this happen to such a powerful group of rogues? I searched my memory desperately for a clue. The buzzing... Sheara... Poca... SHEARA!

I jerked my head up and looked for her, she was lying on the ground, unconcious, with Poca lying beside her. Of course the moment I was certain that she was alright my head began throbbing viciously. Slowly I pulled my aching body into a kneeling position and stayed there, resting for a bit. Not far away, everyone was spread out, still knocked out and all in positions as if they fell... Including one dark stranger. Our attacker? As long as he was still knocked out I would give him the benefit of the doubt. Besides, I wasn't up for killing anyone. I didn't wish to stand, let alone attack. So instead I slowly crawled over to where I left my pack and pulled out a few things to make a herbal drink Kaston taught me to make whenever I felt awful in the mornings.

By the time I got to the river and back, the sun was rising into the sky, and still no one was fully awake. A few were stirring, and I hoped they woke soon, it couldn't be healthy. I brewed the drink and poured a small cup of it, taking in the cleansing scent. Mint was the strongest smell, but not the flavor. As appetizing as it smelled, it was truly disgusting, but it helped. My head was clearing and the pain on my shoulder was weakening. I hoped that a night on the ground in a strange position didn't allow for infection to take root again.

Tess:

I sat up and reached for my ears. They were covered in dried blood and hurt like getting shot. I looked around for some clue as to what had happened and saw a stranger laying on the ground. I assumed he was our attacker and reached over to him carefully. I touched his forehead, arms, and feet. They froze over, pinning him to the ground. the spot where I touched his head turned a bright white, but nothing else happened.
Occasionally i can freeze a rogue's pet into it's weapon form. it works very rarely and usually freezes the rogues head over. looked like it worked that time.
i got up and stretched. Off to the side Reva was drinking something that looked strangley like mushed bananas, bugs, and smelled like mint.
Well, she'll probably want something to eat once she's done. I thought. Nyx? Can you find some fruit?
No answer.
Nyx, are you alright?
Nothing. Zip. My mind was blank. I screamed at her silently, but nothing happened.
Alright, time to try something else. The food would have to wait. I strode towards the thick trees in the general direction of Nyx. I walked for a long time, but I don't know how long. The trees were blocking my veiw of the sun, so I couldn't tell.
Finally, I heard movement in the back of my mind.
NYX!! I screamed with joy and ran where the sound was coming from, tearing through the thick underbrush. A small black figure caught my eye and I turned towards it.
I bent over, probably a little too roughly, picked up my pet. She whimpered, if you could call it that. She was a bird, after all.
"Nyx, Nyx are you okay?" I asked aloud. She stood up slowly and squaked.
I'm fine. Just, my ears are killing me. She looked at me with one beady eye. Do you have anything to eat?
I rolled my eyes. It was just like Nyx to be hungry. I turned back the way I had come and headed back to camp.

The buzzing had started like an annoying insect. In fact, thinking about it I may have actually swatted around my head. But then it intensified almost immediately. I had dropped to my knees and then as the noise grew stronger I screamed.

"The he--" I couldn't finish I fell twisting into a fetal position and touching my ears. Blood. Dribbling down the side of my neck. I closed my eyes and felt my self smash into utter blackness. Nothing like being knocked out. More like dying. Being shot suddenly.

When I awoke my head hurt worse then when I was sleeping upside down on Rayden's shoulder. It felt like it was about to split ope, and looking down at my collar bone I saw the thin trail of crimson, dried just above my bodice. An attack. That must have been what had happened. On the rogue camp and I was getting the brunt of this force simply for going about with them and trying to murder one or two and collect the bounty. Stupid. I kicked the ground hard and then crumpled back to my knees, holding my head between my hands.

"My head feels like it's going to explode!" I shrieked feeling stupid tears welling up in my eyes. The pain was too much. And the worst part of it was it seemed like the others waking up were in pain but recovering a little. It was probably because I was so small. With bones so thin. I snarled and cried out again, rocking on the ground, holding my head gently between two small hands.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid.." I moaned from my spot on the ground. And I didn't even have my knife or gun.

I looked around camp once I finished my drink, and noticed the others were stirring. Tess was going off into the woods, probably for food, and Lydia was sitting up, but looked terrible. She had a trail of blood from her ears and she was paler than usual. She was already small, that force of an attack couldn't have been good for her. For half a second I hoped she was in pain, anyone as devious and fake as her deserved it, but then I relented. If I felt terrible, she must feel twice as bad. And it was possible she actually was sincere when she decided to join us. I didn't like her, didn't trust her, but I was willing to give her some help.

I stood and, feeling infinitely better than before, made my way over to Lydia, holding a fresh cup of the drink. I crouched before her and held it out. "Here, this will help."

She looked at the cup and then at me, distrust in her eyes. "How do I know it isn't poison?"

I took a small sip from it, and the nutty yet bitter ooze slid down my throat. "It isn't poison, although it tastes like it."

"Why would I drink it?" She wrinkled her nose at the drink, a strange mix of brownish green and greenish brown.

"It will help you recover."

"I don't want it."

And my patience was gone. I was trying to be nice and she was turning me down. "You can drink it willingly or I can force it down your throat. Your choice."

She took it and took a tenative sniff, before taking a large gulp. She gasped and sputtered but managed to keep it down. "That's disgusting!"

"I know. Now finish it."

She gave me a reproachful look and I returned it with a firm one, then watched as she downed the rest.

Once she was finished I let a tight smile grace my lips as I took back the cup. "It helps, doesn't it?"

I saw a figure approaching from the corner of my eye. I looked up slowly, careful to move my head a little as possible. She handed me a cup of a thick liquid. I swished it around in the cup before looking back up at her.

"How do I know this isn't poison?" I said weakly through clenched teeth.

She too a sip and shook her head. I could see the disgust on her face. "It isn't poison." She said thrusting the cup back into my hands. I took it. "Why would I drink this?" I asked, still not believing her. Reva hated me. Why would she give me something to get rid of this...terrible...pain. I grimaced and closed my eyes, putting a hand to my temple. "I don't want it." I snarled. But my protests were becoming weaker.

"You can drink it willingly or I can force it down your throat. Your choice." She growled, looking down at me. God, I had never felt like more of a child. I put it to my lips and took a swallow. Sputtering I put a hand over my mouth to keep it in.

"That's terrible!" I cried. She still looked at me, waiting for me to finish it. I obliged. The pain subsided a little. I breathed out slowly and then stood.

My legs began to shake and I dropped back to the ground.

"My head feels loads better but I guess I need to get my sea legs back." I moaned putting my head between my knees. I offered the cup up to Reva and she snatched it back.

"Thanks." I mumbled taking another go at standing and this time leaning against a tree. I licked my finger and began to wipe the dried blood off one side of my neck. "Hey. You know Rayden right? Do you know where he is? I think he has my knife." I said between a few deep breaths. The pain was still there. As much as the drink had helped. I reckoned it would fade quickly. I prayed it would.

Did I know where Rayden was? I did but I wasn't sure I wanted to let her have a weapon while everyone was still asleep. Even the government payed for the wanted rogues that were dead. I looked at her, still firm, but more gently. She was weak, and it was just wrong to pick on a weak person. "Why don't you wait and ask for it back. You still need to recover Liddy." I said softly. "Stay here, I'm going to get you some food before you wither away."

"Why don't you wait and ask for it back. You still need to recover Liddy. Stay here, I'm going to get you some food before you wither away." Reva said. She ignored my question and I closed my eyes to keep from rolling them. I hate losing things. I would feel worlds better with the knife in my boot.

I slid down the trunk of the tree back into a sitting position. Why was I such a baby. I was smaller than some of them but they were all taking it better than I was. Maybe it was because I was a doll. Simply no human with no other force to protect me.

"Food. Could be good." I muttered I closed my eyes and felt my self slipping again into an exhausted unconsciousness. I forced my eyes open and rubbed at them furiously.

"What happened...anyway?" I asked Reva, blinking slowly.

"What happened... Anyway?" She asked weakly, and for a moment I actually had pity for this poor girl. She had taken the hit harder than any of the rest of us seemed to, and was already so weak. She just wanted to be strong. It was a feeling I could empathize.

"I don't know. It was some sort of attack, the kind none of us could defend against." I told her, not letting my momentary lapse in hatred for her be noticed. I got up and quickly grabbed a travelling cake out of my pack and gave it to her. "Eat this. It actually tastes good, don't worry." And I held out an old, still sharp dagger of my own. "And here." I had rethought giving her a weapon. I was going to watch her closely, but she could be of benefit to us if we ran into a fight. I hated to admit it, but I also understood what it was like to desperately want a weapon. It gave you a sense of security. "But if you use that against the wrong person I won't hesitate to turn it against you."

I took the small cake and ate it slowly. I finished it off and Reva handed me an old dagger. Not my own but it would do. I tucked it into the small pocket in my boot. I would trouble Rayden for the revolver soon enough.

"But if you use that against the wrong person I won't hesitate to turn it against you." She adds glaring at me.

"Understood." I said feeling a little of my strength come back. I ran a hand through my hair and let out a hiss of breath through my teeth.

After a few minutes I stood. Maybe she was growing to trust me. But I would not let her see that her kindness had touched me, only for a moment though. I shook my head as if to shake out the thought and smiled at her.

"Is everyone else...okay?" I asked. I went to put on my shirt only to see that I had ripped it in the moment the sound became too much to bear.

"Ugh." I growled throwing it down."Does anyone here have a sewing kit?" I asked pursing my lips irritated. I leaned against a tree and let out a smaller moan of both pain and frustration. But the headache was getting better. That had to be something right?

I felt the ground vibrate slightly, like there were people moving around me, but there was no sound. I opened my eyes and slowely sat up. My head felt like it had exploded, then put back together, then set on fire. My body felt like it was iron. It was almost like the sound had sucked all my energy up. Everything looked a little more yellow than normal, and I rubbed my eyes in an effort to wipe it away. It didn't help very much though.

Why is it so quiet? I looked up to see if everyone else was okay. I saw Reva and Lydia a ways away. Their lips were moving, but there was no sound. Just a slight ringing in my ears. I reached up to touch my ears. They felt...wet? I drew back my hands and saw they were covered in blood. I stared at them, considering the worst possiblility.

Have I...gone deaf? I refrained from panicing, and tried to relax. I closed my eyes and focused on my sense of hearing. Then I flexed the muscle under my jaw, just below my ears. My ears popped suddenly, and pain shot through my head. I winced and held my temples, a single tear rolled down my face. My ears were burning, but I could now hear people talking slightly, like hearing through a wall.
The blood might be cloging them.. I thought hopefully. I did NOT want to be deaf...I didn't even want to think about it.
I took the edging of my dress and dipped it into a small pupple next to me, then began to dap the blood off my ears. I took the corner of the cloth and pushed it to my ear, then pushed the cloth downward. Insantly, my left ear was filled with sound. It was still kinda muffled, and the ringing was still there, but I was happy to know I hadn't gone deaf.
I finished cleaning both ears and tried to wash the blood off the dress with the water from the puddle.
Oww, that hurt...what was that? I asked to Poca. There was no answer.

Poca? Are you okay? Still no answer. I quickly searched around me, then spotted her. She was laying next to me, claws clinging to the dirt in agony. Her white coat was smudged in blood, and her eyes were closed. I gasped and scooped her up as gently as I could.
"Poca?! Are you okay?!" I hoped that she wasn't deaf either. I gently lowered the top of her head and ears into the puddle, then carefully started to rub the red from her fur. She suddenly winced, then groaned.

"Poca! Are you-" I started to ask.

"Owww...would-you keep-it down, please?! Oh my-ears..."

Poca whimpered, peeking at me with one eye. I pulled her close to me in a hug.
"Oh, thank heavens...your okay." I whispered. I sat down, I felt like I was going to fall if I stood any longer. I put my hand over Poca's ears to block out any loud sounds from hurting them further, and tucked her head under my chin. I swayed side to side slowely while stroking her fur. If the sound had been that bad for me, I could only imagine how painful it was for Poca. She was the first to go down, after all.

"I'm-fine...just a little-light-headed. Owww...who-ever-made...that stupid-noise...is soooo dead-after-my-ears stop ringing..."

(Hope this is okay! Tell me if I need to change anything!)

It was light, as it was so rarley in Niyah and Yihana's world. Niyah lughed, tumbleing to the ground as a body slammed into hers, and they both went tumbeling into grass. A little girl stared down at her, a smile on her lips. Niyah knew it well, it awaited her every time she looked into the mirror, it was her own and yet someone elses.
"No fair!" she giggeled. The girlslaughed.
"Now, now, don't mess up your lovewly dresses. Don't you want to look pretty for Daddy?" Niyah looked up into the sun, her heart warming at the sight of a young woman with long black hair and blue eyes.
"Mamma!"

Niyah awoke crying, as she often did lately.SHe wiped away the glistening tears, glancing around her in dull suprise.
"Eisen?"
I'm allright. Don't worry. I awoke only seconds before you did. Niyah sighed in f=relief and turned, spotting Reva.
She stood, walking to her friend's side. At there feet was the girl, lydia. Niyah didn't even bother looking at her. HSe didn't deserve pity.
"Reva, are you alright?" Niyah asked earnestly. Reva smiled, cocking her head playfully.
"Let me see, am i still the most amazeing rogue on the planet. Check. Well everything seems to be in order..." Niayn laughed, smacking her arm. Her head throbbed painfully.
Careful! Eisen warned. Niayh smiled at his concrn.
I'm fine.
"Well, I'm off." Lydia said, standing. Niyah ignored her.
"Well, im glad your okay Reva. How are the others?"
"Worrying about everyone else before yourself. That's just like you. They're all fine. No one's seriously injured, thank goodness." Niyah looked up at the darkened sky, the moon half hidden behind clouds.
"Yeah. Thank goodness."

Pain burns my ears. I reach up and grab my head as the pain reaches my brain. I fall to the ground, and one by one, I see everyone of my companions crash.

Davnick kneels down, and more then anything, even the want for the pain to stop, I wish I could reach out and grab his hand, but as it is, I can barely stop the spasms from my body. "No," I whisper. My vision begins to fade, and the last thing I see is Davnick being kicked in the face by some attacker.

I wake up suddenly, throwing myself into the air into a sitting position and falling back down to the ground. The sun was just beginning to show it's light, although it would probably be a few hours before the first rays actually moved up into the sky. A shiver runs through my spine from the cold as I rub my temples at the new headache.

What had happened? We had been attacked and Davnick...

"Davnick," I practically shout, shooting back up into a sitting position. I half crawl, half run over to where Davnick is laying, closer to the burning out fire. I reach for him, but stop, moving when I look pass Davnick's body. The attacker lays unconcious, his face facing away from me.

I pause to debate whether or not to wake up Davnick so close to the attacker, but after less then a moment later, I've already chosen to ignore him.

"Davnick?!" I ask, the fear growing once again inside of me, not of being attacked, but of possibly losing my only love. "Davnick?!" I ask again, this time shaking him slightly in the arm. A tail of blood dried from his ear down to the ground. In my hurry earlier, I hadn't noticed my own ears had been bleeding.

"Davnick!" I call, this time yelling as loud as I could get my voice to go, which isn't very loud. He ignores me. He ignores me. Irritation and anger begin to creep into me- it's a family thing. And after no sleep, losing my life, and being attacked all in one day, I loose it.

"Davnick!" My hand moves and hits Davnick right on the face. The slap is audible and echoes across the clearing.

Davnick bolts up just as fast as I did. "What?!" he yells.

I jump forward, landing perfectly into his battle-ready arms.

(Haha, well, Shadow and I decided that the Thorns have anger issues. :D )

My mind replays the horrible night. Skylar's face twisted in pain.

"I'm so sorry," I try to tell him.

"Do you know what hurts most about a broken heart?" Skylar asks, ignoring my scream of apology.

"No!" I yell, putting my hands to my ears and stepping back. I know what he's going to say.

Even with my hands clamped tight over my ears, his voice echoes through my mind.

"Not being able to remember how you felt before... try and keep that feeling... because... if it goes, you'll never get it back."

"Skylar!" I scream as he turns and walks away. I pull my hands away from my head and walk forward, my arms outstreached. "Skylar!" I yell again as my hands fall through the thin air where Skylar had just been standing. I fall to the ground.

Another hand appears into my vision, offering to help me up. I take it carefully and stand on my feet.

"Are you okay?" a familiar voice asks. The voice shocks me. I turn around and look into the familar face...

That's the last thought I have before my eyes open. The world's still dark and cold, both figuratively and literally. I moan as I roll over, my sweat collecting dirt and mud as I move.

Darren stands over me, his face shifted into worry, if that were possible for a wolf. He likes me as I sit up.

Are you okay? he asks.

I nod. You?

He nods back.

What happened? I ask, slowly getting to my feet. I rub my hand across my arm, trying to make it warmer. It's going to be a cold day.

I don't know, Darren says honestly. I think we were attacked by someone... it was sound that hurt us.

I nod and slowly start to walk back to the camp.

I hope everyone's okay, I think, my mind, of course, drifting to Skylar.
