I was already regretting having this guy in our alliance, seeing as how rude he was to me, and now this? There was a tribute running in the opposite direction. I see a glimpse of her face and I recognize the girl from 2. I hate those 2 guys. First the guy tribute slashes my arm, now the girl stabs the new guy? He gasps for air while he holds his stomach. I shoot Sparkle a look that she sees and tries to ignore. His eyes are clenched shut in pain so I mouth to her, "He's a mistake." She gives me a look that says, "I know".

We lay him down on the ground and he looks up at the sky. I can see a lot of blood pouring out from his stomach, and I don't know if he's going to make it. I grab some more giant leaves and grass and attempt to tie them around him, but he groans in agony, so I decide to leave him there. I kneel down next to Sparkle.

"What do we do now?" I ask, hoping she'll have an answer.

"I don't know! You've been the doctor around here lately!" She didn't give me the answer I wanted.

"Red, could you sit up? I need to put these leaves on it like a bandage." He nods. He tries to sit up, but he needs to use his hands, and a literal fountain of blood pours out of his stomach.

"Lay back down!" I scream at him. He doesn't even have to be told. I quickly press the leaves onto his stomach. I'm nervous as I can see the approaching darkness, and I'm wondering if he will make it through the night.

In the Animal Kingdom with Sparkle and Red, Red injured.

Death...Debating it.

~Red Ferning~

The pain was searing through me, making my whole body num.
"I-I totally w-was t-tryi-n to s-sav-e you."
Why couldn't I talk? Frustration fights the pain and my body goes to war with it's self. No! I can't die! Not now, not so soon. Taylor stands over me, looking even a bit sorry. Shocker. My eyes black out and I can't see anything, although I hear Sparkle and Taylor debating.
"We should just kill him now. Just because he's in pain."
That's Sparkle. Maybe I should just die. Pain would be nice if it would just end... Then suddenly I remember something. Something Nana always said that would help a wound in the wilderness.
" P-put some...some...."
Stupid mouth! Just speak, talk, don't let me die! I feel Sparkle and Taylor come over to my side.
"What's he saying?" Taylor asks.
Why did those stupid people try and attack us? Did they want me to die, in such pain? I mean, I see why did they did but really...really...My brain was getting foggy. I couldn't think.
"Mud...P-put in-in...mud."
The blood is pouring out heavily now. I was just gonna die. Die or be saved by a handful of mud. Ironic. I blink open my eyes, taking what's left of my strength.
" G-get m-ud...or-r stab me n-now a-and take-e my s-s-upplies. S-Sparkl-e-e."
I close my eyes, most energy drowned out of me. I reach toward my neck , pulling out my dog's tag. If I was going to die I wasn't going to give Taylor, who never even slightly trusted me, the honor of killing me. I took one last deep breath and hoped for the best.

Kill him or let him live :). Totally up to you two.
I have loved the words and I have hated them. I only hope I have made them right.

I hated these situations, where it was all up to me whether someone lived or died. I didn't know anything about this guy, so I didn't know is he deserved to live or not. A voice in my head said, No one deserves to me murdered. But the voice that was trying to keep me alive said, Of course he desrves to die. You've trained your whole life for this, and he can't take your whole life from you. At least he had a past with some memories other than practicing to kill people, you don't. I looked at Taylor, who looked irritated, tired, and like he wanted to kill this guy. I suppose it would be better if he died, he was in pain anyway.

Taylor looked at me and could tell I'd made my decision. He handed me my sword and backed away a little. I looked down at the dirty, bloody, weak, tired looking boy before me. He looked into my eyes and sighed, as if he new what I was going to do also. Was I really that predictable? He closed his eyes as I brought the knife down on his throat.

It was a quick death.

. . .

" Sparkle, Sparkle C'mon, move." I didn't want to listen to the voice. It was mean, sharp, and reminded me faintly of something horrible, something I didn't want to remember.

" SParkle, help me move his body." at those words, everything had been denying came flooding back. The knife slicing through his neck, the horribly disgusting bubbles of blood that had blown up at his throat. Red, like his name. I opened my eyes, which I only now noticed had been squeezed shut, to see the world exactly the same as before. Same green trees, darkening sky, same ground. The world had not been affected by my act of violence. Only me, in my little corner of the world. I don't know why his death affected me more than Austin's or the boy I killed first. Maybe the Hunger games were making me soft.

I looked into Talors anxious eyes. He couched and looked down, obviously trying not to show his concern over me.

" Umm, lets move on, I don't really want to touch his body, and the hovercraft will come for him anyway." Taylor said to me as he gathered our stuff and his. I took his dog collar thing, I think he wanted me to have it. Taylor gave me all the clean stuff that hadn't been covered in blood to hold, and then we started moving on, east, if the sun still set in the west, wherever we were.
Red Ferning is dead. Sparkle thinks they're heading east. Sparkle's with Taylor Silk in the Animal Kingdom, and she's not crazy, she just freaked out (kind of.) we took his stuff.

Yay! I killed someone, finally. Also, putting mud in a stomach wound would probably kill him faster. Just saying.

Claire

The knife was as good as lost, but if it knocked out another tribute, it'd be worth it. I didn't even pause to see where the knife had gone, running hunched over behind the building and hoping they'd be too shocked to fire back. I did hear it, though. A sickening thud-crunch that still echoes in my ears. No one follows us. We run anyway, as silently as we can in the gloomy dusk.

Then the cannon fires. I see Skye grin at me, and smile back. Then something stops me.

"Skye, how many of us are left?"

She frowns. "Only nine, not including us, unless I'm forgetting someone. Is that even possible? Are we in the top twelve?"

But that's not what's bothering me. "Why hasn't the anthem played by now? And why isn't it.... dark yet. It's been like this for hours."

Actually, I don't know what time it is, but it has been twilight too long. It should be too dark to see, but the stars aren't even out yet. Which means something is wrong.

"Are we still going to try for the cornucopia?"

"I think so, yes." I take the second dagger from where I shoved it in my belt. It was his. But now it's mine. She's staring at it almost apprehensively. You just killed someone with a knife. Of course she's nervous.

That brings me up short for a second time. How long, really, will this alliance last? I'll have to break it off sometime. I don't want to kill her. But I also don't want her to kill me. And I feel like everyone is running out of time.

We set off at a jog towards the cornucopia.

In Animal kingdom with Skye, heading towards Cornucopia. What time of day is it supposed to be, anyway, and could something sinister happen? I know Calligraphy isn't here, but I feel like we could invent something. ^.^.

I looked away as she killed him. I knew he didn't like me, so it didn't feel right to kill him. He trusted her more, which was probably the best thing he could've done in these games. I felt, somehow, guilty, for his death. I had some say in it, and I think it was the right choice because he was obviously in pain, but still...

"Let's go." I was kind of irritated. The hovercraft was going to come soon, and I thought it was like a bad omen to be around one. We grabbed everything that hadn't been covered in blood, and she knelt down and took the dog tag off from around his neck. She gave me a look that told me she had to. I gave a last look at the pathetic boy called Red. The boy who hadn't trusted me, and had every right not to. I was going to kill him any way, but now I was even more determined to kill the girl from District 2. I had seen that the boy from 2 was dead a little while ago.

We started heading in the direction that I assumed was east. Why east? I don't really know. Anywhere except back there. We were walking at a leisurely pace, until I heard the hovercraft. I started sprinting away from the noise. It sounded ominous, like it was begging me to die already. I didn't stop until I couldn't hear it anymore. I had no idea where we were, but I didn't see anything that indicated any other tributes.

"Let's stop here." I panted. I took the water bag from Sparkle, glad that we hadn't given Red any. I am so mentally and physically exhausted I'm about to pass out.

"I barely mutter the words, "Can you watch?" She nods and positions herself against a tree. I lay down and I fall asleep right then, barely shivering.

I trotted next to Claire, slightly admiring her endurance. I was tired, but I wasn't about to admit that. I had a feeling she was thinking the same thing as me- there was no way we could make it to the top two together. One would kill or sacrifice or somehow take care of the other. All I knew is that I wanted to be the killer.

Either way, that alliance with the other kid was short-lived. The tiger scene was impressive though.(I still didn't regret hiding in the bushes until the boy died. Oh, I didn't mind letting the tiger loose from a trap when Claire neared. Oops.)

We jogged in silence. Only the screams and piercing noises were acknowledged between us. The soft padding of our feet were muffled even further by treading on dirt. We were taking no chances of being found by an animal. Or worse- another human.

Our eyes constantly scanned the ground for items, and the horizon for others. our ears were constantly on the alert for the anthem. My skin was ready to sense the blistering heat of flames.

"Is it me, or has dawn been too long?" I innocently whispered.

"Of course it has, you nit wit!" She hissed angrily.

"So-rry." I replied as we entered a forest. "Gosh, the cornucopia is so far!'

"Don't complain. Jog a little faster." She grumbled.

"Do you feel all...weird? Tingly, or something?" I asked.

"No, but I'll make you tenfold as 'tingly' if you don't shut your mouth!"

"Hey, I have a right to an opinion!" I hissed, but that was the end of conversation. We kept on alternating between walk and run.

"Stop." She said, about an hour later, planting her feet in the floor. "Listen." I cupped my ear towards the woods.

"Let's stop here." An exhausted, faint voice insists. Easy kill.

"Can you watch?" Another begs, as if pleading for extra bread.

No reply. I must assume she nodded. I looked over at Claire. She made a motion for me to look. I glanced a death-look. Cautiously, I looked around the tree.

I had seen these two before somewhere. I think the one on 'guard' was... hm... glitter? Diamond? Wait, no. It was Sparkle. Then the toher, the one who was sleeping on a tree. That was...Meraldine? No... Tagus? No... Taylor! That's it! Yes, they weren't half bad fighters either. We should try for an alliance first, unless Claire says to just leave. I gave her a questioning look, asking simply:

Flight or fight?

It felt like I had just fallen asleep for a few minutes. Because I had been asleep for only a few minutes. Sparkle shook me awake gently but urgently. She handed me my knife and I noticed she had her sword out and ready. I figured I knew what this was for. I was instantly alert.

She whispered, "To your right." I cautiously glanced to my right. I saw two white uniforms, both with long hair. I didn't think any guys had long hair, so they had to be girls. I thought I recognized the face of Claire, from District 2. I thought of Red, and his gruesome death. I also recognized a girl named Skye. I didn't remember much about her, but I realized they were in an alliance. So Skye helped Claire kill Red. I felt the need to give them a taste of their medicine. I had no idea if they had long distance weapons, but I figured they didn't, since they killed Red with a knife. I stood up abruptly, ready to defend Sparkle and myself, if necessary.

Possibly about to attack Skye and Claire, with Sparkle, in the Animal Kingdom.

Skye Wow, lot of duplicates! =)

"Skye." The hoarse whisper rang. It was Claire. I saw the girl get up jerkily.

"Sparkle, Taylor. This is Skye, with Claire." I announced. "We mean you no harm."

"You killed Red." She stated simply.

"Oh, no no no no. Gossip. We did not kill him." Claire spoke. I glanced at her, before catching her drift.

"Then who?"

"We don't know. We just heard him scream." I answered nonchalantly. Within moments the knife was to my neck.

"He never screamed." The Taylor-chick growled.

"It's all in the game." I gave her a devious smile, before kicking her. The knife dug slightly into my throat before she recoiled. Claire and I made a rush for the trees. i saw Claire get a slash out of Sparkle before me left.

"Are you crazy?!?! You could have died!" Clarie exclaimed.

"A little. By now, we're all crazy. I probably still will die. And did you notice the sun went down?" I asked, clutching my throat. Anyone close enough to hear us would know w where we were already.

"Yes. it's had to kill a girl in pitch blackness!" She complained. A root caught my foot and I was sent sprawling forward."Get up! They might be following!" i obeyed, taking off into the night with Claire again. Gods, how much I trusted her. She might slash me with something and kill me right now. But it's a risk I'll have to take.

Well, it was finally dark. I almost wanted the dusk back. We stumbled through the bushes and trees--we were still in a kind of forest--stumbling over our own feet. Skye was making too much noise. How hard would it be, I wondered, to just run off and leave her here?

We come to a cast-iron fence, suddenly appearling in the dark. It's only about a foot higher than my head, but it'd be easier to just go along it. Skye slaps a huge mosquito off her leg, and I catch a glimpse of the wetness at her throat.

Grabbing her shoulder, I reach towards her throat. "Let me see that."

"I'm fine," she hisses, tearing away.

"Idiot. You reek of blood and we're in the Animal Kingdom. Let me look."

She stares a minute, then moves forward a fraction of an inch. There is a lot of blood, but at least it isn't spurting. She'd already been dead if they hit and arterie. We were so lucky. They could have had a dart gun, a gun, even skills with a knife. Why hadn't I paid more attention in training? And now we didn't even know what they had. The girl had been clutching something, but I hadn't seen what it was.

I make myself focus. It's not a bad cut. But besides the smell, it'll also let the others know she's wounded if they see her. We can't afford to show weakness. Not now. I take the waterbottle and lift it to the light. Even in the gloom it looks cloudy and unappetizing. My mouth feels dry just looking at it. Do I dare use it to wash the wound? I can see the blood pulsing in her jugular. Another thought occurs to me. It'd be easier, so much easier, to just end it now. The knife's in my pocket.

No. No, no, no. Avoiding her eyes, I tear a strip off the bottom of my t-shirt. It exposes some of my stomach, but the shirt's mostly useless anyway. Dampening a corner, I wipe the blood around the wound away, and then hand the dry part to her.

"Keep pressure on it. I don't think we can go to the Cornucopia today."

Then loud footfalls, coming after us, shaken the silence. I catch a panicked glance from Skye, move towards my right--no good, the trees are thick, my left--no good again, there's a small pond.

"Over the fence." I whisper.

We don't have time to think. I'm so tired my arms shake as I pull myself up, but then I swing a leg over and fall heavily to the ground on the other side. Skye follows, a bit more gracefully, not that that matters.

Now--we have to hide. There's a low-lying fog covering the ground, but I can see a few trees down the slope, and Skye is already moving towards them. The ground is dirt, very hard packed. Odd. This isn't a path, is it?

Then it hits me.

"Skye... This is one of the animal enclosures."

Still in Animal Kingdom with Skye.

Skye Mild language.

"Shit." I growled.

"Let's go back." Claire said.

"Well, as let's walk along the fence. Maybe there is a opening or something. That was a tall fence. We're lucky we got around the barbed wire." I said, showing her the looped wire. It was a small spot where the one strip stops and a new one started.

"Poke it." She urged.

"What?" I asked her, dumbfounded.

'Poke it. See if it's on."

"I have a neck slash. You touch it."

"Fine." hesitantly, she climbed the fence before touching the wire.

"Hey, it's-" She began, before shaking. "on."

"Come back down. maybe it is better to climb back..."

Grrrrrrrrrr.

"Uh, Claire-"

"I know, I know."

"Go back over the fence!!" I commanded.

"What?!" She snarled.

"L-l-l- LION!" I shrieked.

"Shut up!" She commanded, climbing over. Quickly, I followed after her, the lion emerging into the pale moonlight. I quickly swung over the fence, moments before the lion snapped below.

"Haha! And the humans conquer!" I yelled. Claire dragged my arm and ran.

ROAR! Came from behind us. I gulped, risking a glance back. The lion jumped up, pouncing on the feeble fence. Soon, other lions came from the night, continuing to jump on the fence. Apparently, we looked tasty.

And the fence leveled.
