Why do new people keep on joining our alliance? First, we were talking about how we can set a trap at the fountain, then a new girl named Luna pops her head in and wants to join in. I was ready to kill her right there and then, but Charlie stopped me. Luna was one of the career districts, she was too valuable at this point to ignore.

I didn't agree, but Specs did, so I was outnumbered in the vote. We told her the plan.

"That's crazy." She said.

"I know," I said, "which is why we need to get there soon before too many people show up. The traps need to be done fast, but need to be fatal. We will have no time to finish anybody off. It also needs to be crowd control."

"Electrical wire." Specs said.

"That would work if you could set that up. I also think that there is no way we would be able to get close enough to the fountain to set a trap for people just getting there, so I say we set a trap for people who are leaving."

"Set it behind them," Charlie said, "we won't be put in much danger, and we trap everybody inside."

"Exactly. So, you guys in?"

"I am." Specs said. The other two agreed as well.

"Good, then I will need Specs to help me set up. Luna and Charlie, you need to keep lookout and keep people from getting too close. I'll let you figure out how."

"Then we should go." Luna said.

Snap! The sound of a breaking branch wakes me. How long have I been out? 7-8 hours? My leg seems actually slightly healed. Snap! Snap! What's going on? This is not the sound of a branch under someone's foot, but rather the sound of fire starting. Snap! Snap! I judge it to be a few feet to my right. I start to turn when I feel the sharp point of a knife on my throat.

"Who are you, and what are you doing near my cave?" I spit in their direction.

"It's alright, we're here to help you through this," I hear a female voice say."But if you don't go along I can have Claire here end your life now."

"Wait!" I said. "Did you say we?"

"Yes," said the voice. "Claire, show yourself." I heard more footsteps and suddenly I saw a girls face. Suddenly the knife tenses on my throat more. I dive for my dagger but it's not there. It's in my captive's hand. As I check my surroundings I see there are two girls in my camp.

"It's alright," says the girl who's name I still don't know. "I'm Skye and this is Claire, and we want to be in an alliance with you. Well, I do anyway. Claire hates your guts. We saw how you raided the camp and I think you might help us. Plus 3 people is better than 2, so what do you say?"

"Sure," I say. "As long as you don't kill me."

"Don't worry, we won't...Yet," says Claire. Just by looking at her I could tell she wanted me dead. And with that my strength failed and I fell back asleep.

I wake up to Sparkle shaking me violently and telling me to wake up. I try to sit up, but I soon find out I'm much to weak to even do that. I'm still coming out of unconciousness slowly as I hear her say,

"Are you okay? Can you eat?"

"I d-don't know. What's exactl-ly wrong with m-me?" I stuttered. I slowly looked down at my left arm and gasped. I started to feel light-headed. I quickly laid back down. There was a deep gash running down the side of my arm, which was crudely bandaged with giant leaves and grass. Sparkle offered me a piece of dried fruit. I chewed on the tip and felt even worse, so I set it down.

"Oh yeah! I just r-remembered. I have some n-needle and thread in my pocket. I'm g-glad it didn't s-stab me." I joked. I pulled it out and skillfully threaded the needle with one hand. I tried stiching up my wound, but my hand was shaking so badly I decided not to.

"Do you know how to s-sew?" I asked Sparkle. She looked uncertain, but she nodded. I handed her the needle and spool of thread. I winced as the needle went in, and she looked scared.

"What do I do now?!"

"You pull the needle out on the other side of the wound." It took her fourty-five minutes to do something I could've done easily in under five minutes, but at last the job was done. I felt a little better and finished my piece of fruit.

"Look, I know you're not in the best shape, but we really need water. Really badly." I noticed her S sounded a little funny. Probably because her tounge was dry. I noticed my throat was burning.

"Okay. I agree. Let's go." She walked over and grabbed a stick. She helped me stand up and I put most of my weight on the stick. We started heading back the way we came. We had been walking for an hour and I saw an overgrown roller coaster.

"I think we're almost there." I sighed in relief.

I panted. Specs looked way heavier than he was, though I knew the splint thing was weighing us down. Victor had taken us first and then I, Luna was carrying all the supplies. Victor hadn’t been happy about it, but she just seemed so trust worthy. She hadn’t run yet so I was pretty sure she wasn’t going to. She had stuffed most of our stuff in her backpack so it was easier that way anyway.

Specs was clinging to my back like a monkey that was under threat of a sword. “Loosen it up a little will you?” He did and urged me on,

“We have to get there before anyone else.” We had been running at a steady jog for about forty minutes. It helped us greatly that the only person who couldn’t run well was Specs. I looked out across the water of the lake sweat stinging as it ran into my eyes. The water looked so cool and refreshing. Stop, I told myself, you can get water at the fountain.

“We’re almost there,” Luna gasped when she caught me staring. I turned away and looked ahead. I was amazed at how much quicker we were going this time compared to my travels in the opposite direction. I gazed at the huge ball in the sky. When I again looked down I saw the fountain spurting in the air. I put on a burst of speed and we were there. I practically dropped Specs and then I was jumping over him to the water splashing my face with it.

“GET DOWN” Victor yelled. I realized what danger I was in just in time I threw myself onto the ground over Specs as an arrow sailed over my head. It made a splash as it landed in the water. I reached for my belt and realized that the only weapon I didn’t give to Luna was my pocket knife. Specs didn’t have anything.

“Oh, shit.”

Another arrow skimmed my back, right over my last wound. I couldn’t help it, I screamed. I stood up just to stumble forward. I was abandoning Specs, but I didn’t care. I knew this point would come when my team would turn into enemies or at least we would get separated. Specs was smart, but he was an anchor pulling me down. Then I heard a scream. I turned without thinking that Specs was helpless without thinking what I could see. The fountain blocked my view; I took a step forward. That is when I saw the blood. It ran with the water gushed into the air. My stomach churned. There was nothing for me to throw up. I hadn’t eaten for a day and a half. Had I eaten? I couldn’t remember now, but then it came. My throat burned. My mouth burned. My stomach was in a not, my whole body ached, my back screamed my legs felt like jelly. Maybe it was time to die. I fell to my knees covering my face with my hand. Even my heart was broken. I had just let that kid die that little helpless kid. I remembered the day before. I had killed someone and let someone be killed maybe more. I had no idea where Victor or Luna was. They probably ran, ran like me, away from the pain, the hurt. They had deserted their friend, and left me as Specs only hope. What was I supposed to do?

Then the voice inside my head came out. Suck it up. I gulped in air. An outside voice also intervened.

“Charlie? Charlie! Your O.K, I thought you were dead. Why did you run away from us.” It was Luna.

“Specs is dead,” I sobbed.

“No, no he’s not he the other dude from district twelve Victor killed him.”

I saw the entire thing happen right in front of me. I was tailing a group of four tributes as they headed towards the fountain and the other guy from my district almost got them. He was shooting arrows and one of the three dropped the kid she was carrying and ran while one of the guys kicked his attacker in the face and then stabbed him with his own arrow. It was gruesome and made me grateful that I hadn't decided to attack them.

I heard the announcement that pretty much screamed trap to me, but I was thirsty from all the smoke I inhaled during the fire and needed that water. On the way there, I noticed four people in a group. One being carried and obviously badly hurt and I decided to tail them and see what they were up to. They didn't look that strong, and I knew that they wouldn't have moved the kid unless they were either desperate for the water or had a plan that involved him somehow. Needless to say, I was curious.

During my time tailing them, I toyed with the idea of just killing them. I would be faster by far and I could steal whatever supplies they had, but someone else attacked them first and what happened to him was likely what would happen to me. I sighed and continued to follow them. They were definitely planning something big. Maybe big enough to end the games for them. Well, I at least planned to end it for them.

She is tailing Charlie, Victor, Specs and Luna. She won't attack them right now.

I was starting to get really annoyed with Charlie always running away from the group when there was trouble. I didn't like our group too much, but we all had skills that were needed to survive. In short, we really needed each other and it hurts the group a lot when one of us runs away. We were almost killed by the District 12 tribute. He had arrows and pretty good aim and seemed to want to target Charlie. That was probably because he thought he could take two of us out easily. Well, he almost succeeded in taking Specs out if I hadn't been there.

He shot an arrow cutting my arm, but I was able to close the distance and kick him to the ground. I then grabbed one of his arrows and stabbed him in the heart. I didn't like what I did, but I was able to console myself with the fact that his death was quick and probably painless. Luna went off and found Charlie. I looked at her, but I really didn't feel like making a lecture.

"We need to keep moving." Specs said. I agreed and we kept on to the entrance to the large plaza where I stopped everybody. It looked empty, but there were a lot of hiding places.

"Where are we setting the traps?" Charlie asked.

"In the water." Specs said.

"But we need to get to the water too."

"Yeah," I said, "We will grab some water for ourselves first, then we can set the traps."

"I'm going to make the water electrically charged. It will stun them long enough for someone to make a move." Specs added.

"After the traps are set," I continued, " You and Luna will watch them and Specs and I will set other traps around the exits to trap everybody inside."

"You want to end the games, don't you?" Luna said.

"Yes. As fast as possible. We aren't in the best position right now, so we need to at least tip the scales in our favor. If we don't end it, I want to at least secure the fountain. Then we just need to defend it."

"Okay," Charlie said, "it's risky, but it needs to be done to survive."

"If we hurry, we can make it before too many show up." Specs said. We all wished each other good luck and went to work. There will be no room for error in this plan.

I've never even held a needle in my life, let alone stitch someone up. It was disgusting, but I've trained for this, and I've ripped a leg off a live pig before, so I tried my best to ignore it.

Walking to the Cornucopia, I ran dozens of senario's through my head, hidden attackers, bombs, poisened water, you name it, I probably thought of it. I had to admit, we were a little late and everyone else most likely got there. Or chances for getting water and leaving without getting hurt was slim. I didn't tell Taylor that though. In all the senarios, I'd figured a way to survive, whether I ran away or used Taylor as a human shield.

as we walked through a partucularly thick clump of trees, the large shining whate ball that was the Cornucopia came into view. My training kicked in and I slid back into the trees with Taylor.

" We have to be careful, there's gonna be some trap or tribute somewhere around here." I whispered to him. He nodded and checked his wound. I looked around us for any sign of human disturbance, there was none. I peeked through the trees, and there was still nothing. In a moment of inspiration, I grabbed the poison from my backpack and dribbled a little onto my sword. I think I'd seen someone do this in another hunger games and it worked pretty well. I hoped that it would work for me. I motioned for Taylor to follow me, and we left the trees.

I could see we were still a good 200 yards from the cornucopia. I felt the light burn in my throat, wishing for water. Good thing I was prepared for it. I'd spent two and a half days without water last year while preparing, so at least I was expecting this. Taylor, on the other hand, want panting and overall didn't look so good. I symathized for the guy, a cut arm and now dehydrated, it must be tough.

" do you want to dive in there, or wait and watch?" I asked. Personally, I wanted to walk around it and take out anyone hiding, but that might not be the best idea, people could here us and we wouldn't be able to see the fountain. Maybe I should listen to someone else for the change, even though he'd probably have some stupid idea.

"Wait a second..." I hold up a hand, stopping Skye and waiting for my brain to catch up. She was ready to take this kid with us. But I hadn't even seen his face yet.

"Which district are you from?" I ask. Then he moves forward slightly.

"YOU!" I scream, and suddenly the dagger is in my hand. I grab him, shove him towards the wall. His leg drags awkwardly and he winces as he hits the fake stone.

"I. Told. You. To stay AWAY from me!" I am so angry I can't think strait. I don't remember the last time I felt this way. Probably when Da left.

"District buddies?" he asks. I twist his shirt.

"Claire? What's going on?"

"Give me ONE good reason why I shouldn't just kill you now!"

"Claire, keep your voice down. We're not alone, remember?"

I ignore her. "All through training, all through the opening ceremonies, I warned you not to get near me. I. Don't. Want. To. Kill. You." I spit at him.

"Hey, my leg's injured. I can't exactly leave."

"You know perfectly well how to treat your own leg. You don't need us. And I certainly don't need you."

I step back, leave him gasping on the floor. I've been dreading something like this happening ever since my name was pulled. I would've taken anyone--ANYONE--besides him. I take Skye aside.

"I am not going to stay in an alliance with him."

"Then what are we gonna do?" she asks, crossing her arms. "We can't just leave him here. He knows where we are, where we're going."

"We can tie him up. Take his stuff. get out of here."

"I'm sorry Claire, but we have to either try to kill him or keep him with us. And later.... maybe..." She trails off. I know what she means. We'll kill him later. We'll have to.

Entering the games, I thought I could do it. I told myself I could do it. But now, faced with my least favorite person in the world, I'm not sure I can. I turn back. He's still lying there, staring at us, cheeky grin on his face.

I wake to the the chirping of birds at early light. I look across the campfire and see Claire and Skye sitting at the fireplace talking. I eavesdrop on them while pretending to be asleep.

"I can't believe you let HIM join our alliance!," I hear Claire scream. "He could pose as a real threat, since we're forcing him into our alliance."

"Yeah, but you saw him take on both of those tributes in that camp," explained Skye. "And he seemed very handy with that dagger."

"Alright," says Claire. He could help us take down a few tributes, then we kill him."

"But what if he is better than we think?" Asks Claire.

"Fine, how 'bout this. We see how he does and then we decide whether to kill him or not. Because I still hate him."

"Agreed," says Skye.

I lay in my cave for a few minutes, then decide to pretend to wake up. Then I ask Claire, "How am I still alive? I blacked out because I lost too much blood. How did you fix me?"

"I'm also from district two," brags Claire. "You're not the only one who knows about healing in this place."

I grab all of our supplies and lay them out."Now let's see what we have here," I say as I roll out our supplies. A dagger, night vision glasses, 3 dried peaches, two spools of barbed wire, a plain pocket knife, a 20 oz empty bottle of water, some iodine tablets, a knife, and an empty dart gun. "Do you know how to use this?" I show Skye the dart gun.

"Yes," says Skye. "I'm not an idiot. I wouldn't grab something I can't use."

"Great, now you sound like Claire," I joke as I walk over to our supplies pile and grab a peach and some barbed wire. Then I walk back to my seat and get to work.

"What are you doing?" yells Claire "You're wasting our food!"

"No, I'm getting us food. Creative kills get sponsors." I shove the barbed wire in the beach and cut the part with the wire in it into a slice of peach. "Now if you excuse me I have to go find an alone tribute. Don't follow me." As I walk into the forest of green I think "This better work." As I get deeper in the woods I hear something rustling in the woods, so I arm myself with my knife. Turns out, I only startled a squirrel. "Sorry about that," I chuckle. I thought you were someone else." As I head in deeper that's when I see the smoke of the fire.

As I moved stealthily towards the fire I saw who was at the fire. It was a boy tribute, I forgot which district he was from, but that didn't matter, he would be dead soon. As I walked out into the open he quickly grabbed his weapon, a measly pocket knife, it didn't match up to my dagger. "It's alright," I lied."I want to be in an alliance with you."

"Really?" said the boy. He sounded so worried. It would be a shame to kill him."I thought you were going to try and kill me. My name's Dammar."

"No, I'm all alone too, and I think with my supplies we could be a good team, you and me Dammar," I lied again, trying not to grin as I said so."When was the last time you've eaten?"

"Since before the game started," he stuttered."I'm so hungry."

"I bet you are," I said slyly. "Here have this peach. As a symbol of our friendship." He reached for the peach and popped it in his mouth. His eyes widened as he realized what I had done to him. He tried to scream in pain, but all you could here was the swishing and gargling of the blood now pouring out of his teared up and obliterated gums and mouth. A tooth fell out of his mouth, obviously severed by the barbed wire I placed in the peach earlier in the day."How's that peach taste!" I laugh as I knock the knife out of his hand."One down, 16 to go!" I laugh. In his final act of life he spit blood on my face. As the warm, wet substance runs down my face I give him an uppercut straight to the bottom of the jaw. I hear a rip and he suddenly has blood covered wires sticking out of his cheek bone. You could almost hear the scream he was letting out as his body fell to the ground, lifeless."It was good doing business with you," I chuckled as the cannon fired. I grabbed his items and returned back into the woods, like a phantom in the night.

He's back now, crashing through the burned bushes louder than the bear, which is still lying next to us in the dark. I do not like the way the arena feels--hushed, and expectant. Skye's almost asleep, but when he gets back she sits bolt upright like I do, and I see her knuckles whiten over the pocketknife she's taken to holding.

"You do realize there's blood all over your face, don't you?" I ask. He probably walked into a pole. Conceited little....

"Yeah. I killed Dammar."

"Wha---just like that?" Skye splutters. I just glare at him.

"He always was a little weasel. And a backstabber." I say to her. "And you--don't take our stuff again. You do, and I'll kill you."

I'm not kidding, and I can tell he knows it. He fingers the barbed wire.

"Don't even think about it, Roger. You know I can whup you. Besides, there's two of us."

Skye looks a little uneasy, and I wonder just how long our alliance will last. For the first time, I realize that it bothers me to think of killing her now.

"So he's dead. That makes... how many? Thirteen, not including us?"

"Plus whoever dies at the fountain."

I lift our half-full waterbottle, and slosh it. With three people, it won't last long. But there's no way we're going to the fountain with him. I don't trust him as far as I can throw him. Which isn't far; my muscles are still shaky. No way I'd let him know that though. I can't wait to kill him.

" So when do you want to go?" James asked. I though about it. There would be at least one tribute in here who was smart enough to take their water and ruin the rest, somehow. I supposed we'd have to get it before them.

" Now, and we should finish the water in the jug so we can hold more. C'mon, lets go. I gathered our things and we left. I had decided to keep my fur coat, if you could call it that. I had ruined most of it trying to cut it off. I looked back at the ruined carcass of the Tiger. As I looked, I felt a little tingling on my arm where it cut me. I peeked at it. It didn't seem to be infected, and it looked as if it had healed a bit. My arm still stung a little from it, but I could still use it.

After walking for hours, we finally finally stopped to rest in a patch of trees. I could see that James's leg was bothering him, but he tried hiding it. He sat down breathing heavily as I waited impatiently. finally, I was done waiting and climbed a tree. I looked out over the slighty charred leaves onto the arena. Less than a mile ahead of us was the Cornucopia.

" Hey James, I found the cornucopia," I called down to him quietly. Can't be to loud around here, there could be tributes hiding in the next tree.

" I think it would be best if we didn't run strait in there, do you agree?" I said after nimbly climbing down. HE nodded, still catching his breath. " How about we look around for other tributes, and if we find any we'll kill them, then we go in?" I asked. Best to make him think he was in charge, and that he was making decisions.

I envisioned all the ways I could kill him then, I couldn't help it, I was used too trying to see the future and the best outcomes. I could kill him, but if I did, I'd also loose the person who made these games about half as hard. He wasn't much help now, but when his leg healed we'd be able to take shifts at night and hunt more safely. It would be better to keep him, I decided. Besides, If I killed him now, another tribute might hear him scream.

"I can see the Cornucopia from here." I whispered nervously to Sparkle.

"Okay. But I don't want both of us going out there. We would attract more attention, and I don't want you to hurt your arm even more. Is there any way we can make a water bottle out of something?" I thought about this for a moment.

"Well, I could weave some bark together and then sew it, to make sure it's secure, and then I could put moss all around the inside, and it could serve as a water bottle."

"Then let's try that. We should try everything. But we should hurry, because I bet other tributes from farther off are going to come too." She then walked over to the nearest tree and peeled off a few pieces of bark. She knelt down and picked some moss. She squeezed it and a drop of water made a satisfying "plop" on the ground. She handed them to me and sat down and started sharpening her sword on a rock. After a half-an-hour I had something that could potentially hold water.

"Finished!" I exclaimed.

"Good. I'll go fill it up."

"Be careful." I warned. She set off, creeping stealthily along the edge of the woods. As she started to make her way towards the fountain, I thought I saw a flash of white in the woods not too far off. But if I warned her now, then they would find me. An arrow flew out of the woods right at her. She tried to avoid it, but it lodged itself in her thigh. She stumbled, then sprinted to the fountain. She stuck her head in, then quickly filled up the "bottle". She was headed back this way. I thought they would pursue her, so I gathered our things and was ready to go. It was perfect timing, because I could hear her scream, "Go! Quick!" I started running into the woods. We had been running for a few minutes and I was panting so hard I could barely hear myself say, "I think we've gone far enough." I turned around and noticed Sparkle wasn't there. I had started walking back and I saw her sitting down leaning against a tree.

"Sparkle!" I ran over to her. "Why'd you stop?"

"Well, maybe because I have an arrow in my leg!" She pointed down and groaned. I had completely forgotten about that!

"Do you want me to pull it out? I'll have to bandage it up fast, but it will make it better. Honest."

"Sure. I just want this thing gone!" She cried. I prepared myself to pull it out, but went over and got some giant leaves and a few blades of grass.

"Are you ready? One, two-" I pulled it out on two. I wasn't prepared for the fountain of blood. I hadn't really been much of a doctor. I tried wiping off some of the blood, but it just kept coming, so I out a leaf around her leg and wrapped it with a few blades of grass. It slowed the blood flow, but I could see it wasn't going to stop soon.

"You need to lay down. You need to keep your blood pressure low, then less blood will come out." I wrapped another leaf around it and tightly tied some grass around it. She took a giant drink from the "bottle" and ate a slice of fruit, then laid down and fell asleep. I realized how tired I was, now that the adrenaline rush was wearing off. I hadn't gotten much sleep since the beginning of the games. I decided not to make a fire tonight, because I saw how well that worked out last time. I leaned against the tree and thought about my family as I dozed off.

"Yes, that goes into the equation. So, I say we just stay secluded in a little corner, as not to draw attention to ourselves. We jeep out of the way, move often. When they all kill each other, we'll come out." Iexplained as I sat on the ground. I gave Claire a look, saying We'll kill him first, then we'll talk.

"No way." R.J Spat.

"Hey, are you the one who made this alliance? We let you join us. You don't get a say around here."

"I'm just as smart as you are! That's a stupid plan!"

They begin arguing, loudly.

"Be quiet!" I hiss. "Others will find us!" That both quieted. "If you two can't get along, we'll have to eliminate you, R.J."

"I'm all for that plan." Claire grumbled.

"What do you propose we do, then?" I demanded from R.J, not acknowledging Claire's comment.
