The last twenty minutes had been running around frantically. Victor couldn’t say Luna wasn’t a good part of the team no though. She had, besides her backpack full of stuff, given us everything left behind at the Cornucopia. The thing was most of the stuff people were aiming for at the higher levels got left because it was lost in the chaos. Specs had found a spool of barb wire that we placed inside the fountain. Me and Luna had disguised it with grass and algae growing on the edge of the lake. Specs had somehow made the wire electrified with the batteries from his flashlight and a big black box that Victor and he had found in an old building.
In her bag Luna had four precious grenades that we were going to set off if the people turned around and ran. Two were smoke grenades and the others would create enough noise. If only everything worked smoothly no one on our team would die. I swore under my breath me and Luna were hidden in some bushes. We had found some body paint mixed it with mud and smeared our faces, arms, and clothes with it. It itched like mad and I had the urge to go the fountain and rub it all off. Stay put, Stay put. Then I saw something moving.

I am with Luna VonTrapp, Victor Marks, and Specs Wrye. We are at the fountain with the clear water. We have set a trap. Anyone who comes into the fountain will get electrified, but the grenades I spoke of wont work. My character Charlie Carter and my other character Luna VonTrapp will attack you. I give you permission to kill Luna by drowning her, but please don't kill Charlie, and I would like for one of your team to die as well.

When I got back to camp Claire and Skye were eying me suspiciously."What?" I say,"A man can't kill someone and have blood on his face? Now sit back and watch the show. A take a seat when The anthem starts to play and the seal of the capitol burns bright in the sky. I see Dammar's picture in the sky and both girls go silent. "One down, 16 to go I tell them as I go in the cave and fall asleep. When I wake in the morning Claire and Skye are both gone, probably hunting I say. Luckily I see their footsteps and follow them. But before I leave I grab my dagger, just in case. I follow their tracks for about an hour, realizing that they tried to ditch me. But they also might be in trouble, so I keep following them. I know I'm close when I hear Claire scream. I run in that direction and I find a huge tiger facing Claire. I see it start to lunge but I jump in the way. I see it's claw rake my gut, but I bury my dagger in it's throat. As soon as she knows it's dead, Claire rushes over.

"Why did you do that?" she says as she assess my wound."You know I hate you?"

"Yeah, but we're in an alliance, and I gave you my word, so I guess I'm not so bad after all huh?" I gasp, now feeling the full pain of my wound.

"No, you're not. And you know, your parents are two very lucky people," Claire stutters as she starts to tear up. When she said that it made me realize that I didn't need to volunteer for the games. I now realize that my time has come, and apparently Claire does too, because she starts to cry and she starts saying,"You can't die, you can't..."

I grip her hand which silences her."Look Claire, I'm going to be fine, it's just you and Skye now," I croak. I feel my strength start to fade."Good luck," I choke, having to force the words out,"District buddy." As my vision started fading, I gave her that same cheeky grin.
Spoiler
R.J sacrificed himself for the greater cause. In other words R.J kicked the bucket. And if you don't know what that means I'll put it in simpler terms for you. R.J IS DEAD!

I awoke to the sound of rustling leaves. My eyes flew open, thinking it was a tribute trying to kill us. It was an animal I'd only seen in books and movies at school, something called a rabbit. It hopped behind the tree I’d been leaning against.

”Food.” I thought. I grabbed my knife and stealthily made my way around the tree. I saw a tuft of brown fur and lunged at it. I struck the handle of my knife against it’s head, and it was immediately dead. I carried it back and put it down in front of Sparkle. I considered waking her up to see if she knew how to skin it, but I decided she needed her rest, and she would wake up when she’s ready. I started a fire so I could cook the rabbit, and some smoke must have gone in her mouth because she woke up coughing.

“What are you doing? We don’t need a fire! It will only attract attention!” She said angrily, still half asleep.

“Well while you were asleep, I got us some breakfast.” I pointed at the rabbit. I could see her mouth water as she looked at it like a hungry beast.

“Do you know how to skin it?” I asked, hoping I would get a positive answer.

“Taylor, I was trained for this game, remember? Can I borrow your knife?” She didn’t even wait for an answer. She grabbed the knife and skillfully started to skin the animal.

“Try to save the fur if you can. We could use it for something.” After a few minutes, we had the animal cooking on a spit above the fire.

“Sparkle, I need to stitch up your wound.” She nodded, knowing it would be painful. I looked remorsefully at my dwindling supply of thread. I threaded the needle and stitched her up in under five minutes. I turned the rabbit, and in the end we had a slightly overcooked rabbit, but after my first bite, I realized that this was the best meal I’d had in a long time. After we had picked it clean, I finished it off with a drink of clean, refreshing water.

“So, do you want to move around, or should we make a kind of camp here? I mean, we could find a more sheltered area, but we could stay in this general area.” I thought about this before I answered.

“I think we should stay here, because there’s food, we have water and we’re kind of close to the fountain if we need more, and I haven’t seen any other tributes in a while. Although, we could walk around and see if there are any tributes near here. But I think this is a pretty good place.” Sparkle nodded. I helped her up and gave her my walking stick. She needed it more than I did anyway. I stomped out the fire and covered it with sand to make sure no one would see the smoke, grabbed my things, and we started walking. I know she couldn’t really help it, but she was being really loud on the leaves. She was half-dragging her foot, and it was stirring up the leaves and dust on the ground. I grimaced and hoped no one would hear us. After walking for about twenty minutes, we were both panting heavily.

“Let’s take a break.” I said in between breaths.

“No.” I heard her whisper.

“What’s wrong? Are you hurt?” I asked, concerned.

“No. I just remembered something we learned about in my science class. It is nearly impossible to walk in a straight line without focusing on one thing. Have you been looking at one tree in particular?” She asked worriedly.

“Um, no?” I was afraid of what her reaction would be. I had known from being with her that she had a short temper.

“No, this can’t be happening.” She looked like she was about to cry. I didn’t see what was so bad about it. We might have chosen a different location to make camp anyway. I heard a strange chattering sound above us. I glanced up and saw the most colorful bird I’d ever seen.

“You are lost! You are lost!” It squawked.

“It can talk?!” I screamed. Maybe this was one of the government’s creations. I wondered what else it could do.

“Yes, it can talk. You know why?” She said fearfully.

“Is it one of the government's hybrids?” I wondered.

“No. It’s a parrot. It means we’re in the Animal Kingdom.”

I watched the team work on the water fountain. It was a trap, though I really couldn't understand it much. It had something to do with electricity, but it could also be for drowning people. Well, I couldn't get any water from the fountain because the team would get me easily and the only way to get water was to steal from them which was next to impossible without a distraction that I didn't have. I needed water. And food, but mostly water. It was so close too, but inaccessible.

They were planning something big, so it really was only a matter of time before someone else showed up and triggered the trap for me, but I was really contemplating going in for it myself. I moved forward a bit and accidentally russeled the bush that I was hiding in. I was sure that their scouts noticed it, so I had to act fast. If I could possibly lure them away from their water...

I had to, I jumped out of the bush and drew my blade. It didn't look all that threatening (in fact I probably looked pathetic) and they probably thought so as nobody jumped out to meet me. Great, they were calling my bluff and I was sure that everybody was watching me. Maybe if I made it seem like I wasn't worth wasting their trap on. Or if I made it look like I fell for it. I moved to back of the fountain away from the hiding spot that I was sure they were in. I had to make the sacrifice for my water. I dropped my knife in the water. Nothing happened. Now, I had no clue on how electricity worked, but I thought something should have happened. Maybe I was wrong...

I had to go for it. I stuck my finger in the water and all of a sudden, I couldn't move. Then I was attacked by the group that I was stalking. I was able to pull my finger out just in time to watch one of the girl's blades fall go for my throat. I twisted around and the blade cut my arm instead. It was a deep gash, but I was alive. I retaliated by pushing my attacker and she fell in the fountain. I didn't stay long enough to see what happened. I ran to where they jumped out of and, just my luck, there was no water. The boys must have taken it somewhere. Well, I had more things to worry about, like the massive cut on my arm. I ran for the nearest tree and climbed it to assess the situation.

In a tree near the fountain. Injured. Pushed Luna in the fountain, probably not dead just yet but the trap has been set off so people can start attacking if they saw the entire thing.

I honestly didn't see what was so bad about being in the Animal Kingdom. I figured we could kill any animals we saw, and then we'd have a lot of food, and the fur we could use as-

Was this really what my District had turned me into? A freak who could turn anything into a piece of clothing?! I shook my head and started listening to what Sparkle said.

"-and go back the way we came. Okay?"

"Huh?" I was truly confused.

"I said, if we focus on one object in the distance we want to go, and then we could eventually make our way back that way. Were you listening that time? Or do I need to repeat myself?" She asked angrily.

"No, I was just thinking about something."

"Okay, well follow me. We're going to go back that way. And if we see the Cornucopia, then we'll have an idea of where we are. Alright?"

"Sure." I replied nonchalantly. I really didn't agree with what she was saying, but then again, I barely knew what she was saying. What was happening to me? Why couldn't I focus on anything? Was something wrong with me? I started walking in the direction she was. Was I going crazy? The voice of the parrot kept ringing in my head.

"You are lost! You are lost!"

What did it mean? We weren't lost. We knew we were in the Animal Kingdom. Did it mean we were lost physically, or mentally? Or did it mean anything at all? If it's job was to mess with my head, it was doing a pretty good job. I had been so unfocused I walked right into a tree. Sparkle laughed, but when she saw the look on my face, she knew I was serious. She ran over to me and grabbed my hand and felt my forehead. Or at least I thought she did. I didn't feel anything. My vision started to fade at the edges, like an old photograph. A sword appeared in her hand. Right before she brought it down on my body, I bolted up.

"It was a dream! I'm alive!" I thought. Sparkle glanced over at my sudden disruption of the still morning. I looked at her and saw a flash of that blood-thirsty version of her, and I scooted away from her.

"What's wrong?" She sounded concerned.

"Um, this is a weird question," I stood up and walked a few feet to my right. "But can you come over here and uh, um, pinch my arm?"

"Um, sure. But you're right, that is a weird question." She walked over and I tried not the think about her trying to kill me in my dream. She gave my arm a pinch and relief and fear flooded into my face. Relief, because she had not tried to kill me, and fear. The Hunger Games was not a dream. It was a living nightmare. I fell to my knees. She knelt down and looked into my eyes. I could feel them tearing up. This is not something a man does. Cry. I'd only cried once, and that was when my uncle died. I slumped into her arms and started crying. I think she understood, because I could hear her sniffling.

My family. I might not see them again. At least one of us was going to die soon. It was all too real. Way too real. Because it was going to happen. Possibly in a matter of minutes. They had won. The government had succeeded. They had broke me.

Luna was a faster runner than me and she got to the girl first. Just as I was about to hit her with the steal pipe Luna was thrown into the fountain. I grabbed the pipe and was going to try to work it under her so I wouldn't have to touch the water when I realized it would travel through. I was losing time I shoved my hands into the water as far as I could go. The electric shot through me. Trapping me in motion for a few seconds. Then I felt a crack run through my body. I grabbed the first weapon I saw, a dagger at the bottom of the fountain. I spun around and just in time to doge the next blow. The bitch had my pipe. I dodged to the side and lunged forward just scrapping the girls side. The girl swiped at me again this time hitting my hand. A horrible pain went straight up my arm and a sickening 'pop' rang in my ears.

I flew onto my back. The girl stepped forward again she put a foot on my chest. She was talking mumbo jumbo, "This one's fisty huh Zana." Who the heck was that? An pet or something? It is funny the weird thoughts you think in the most frightening times. I spun my body around frantically and kicked. As my foot landed in her crotch I grabbed the pipe that was again whizzing through the air and pulled with all my might. I was using both feet now. With my other foot I pushed against the ground pulling myself in order to grab her arm. I worked my other foot up to her stomach. I just needed to get a weapon. Then I remembered Luna, tangled in the wire at the bottom of the fountian. I was trapped, whatever I did, I had a chance of dieing.

I gave my biggest shove and finally grabbed the pipe out of the girls hands. She stumbled but not to the ground. I turned and ran back to Luna. Then I saw her. She was completely entangled. I, if she was even alive, would never be able to get her out in time. Her mouth and eyes open in a gasp. I couldn't look any more. I turned away again. I saw specs and Victor around a tree. Then had the girl by the arms. They were fighting her. I took a step forward, then another. I wondered how I could with the girl dead behind me, but life goes on.

I was in pain. My leg was pulsing in agony, and I literally wanted to rip it off. I checked my leg to see the inflamed burn streaded with red lines going u my legs past my shorts. I checked my stomache to see the thin red snakes there, too. I touched one and a burning pain exploded through my stomach. I knew what this was. Blood poisoning. I had a few hours left of agony at most.

" Ellette?" I called out wearily. My voice was scrachy and weak.

" Yeah? what is it Luna?" she came over to see what I wanted, and saw the straks of red on my stomach. " Ohh. . " Her voice faded off. She knelt down and held my hand. " IT's ok, you'll be Ok." I smiled weakly at her. We both knew she was lying.

" Can you give me that knife? I asked, pointing at the knife on the floor next to her.

" Sure," she said, giving me the knife. " What are you going to-" Her voice stopped as she gasped when I cut the knife across my neck. Blood was pouring out like the tears from her eyes. " I'm so sorry Luna," she choked. " I'm sorry it has to end this way.

I was sorry she had to be here for this, but I couldn't die alone. IT was comforting feeling her warm hand as I drifted off to sleep. . .

I walked toward the Animal Kingdom, listening to the echoes of animal noises. My arm started to throb again and I whirl around. Why can't I do anything? I feel my blood pressure rising and wish I could just rip off my arm and leave it on the ground. Breathing deeply I sit on the ground, rummages through my supplies. Flint? Useless. Water bottle. Eh. Pocket knife? Not with my useless medical knowledge. I look around. There. I saw something dead and fury on the ground. Leaping up, I glance around, not wanting to die with a knife in my back. I pick up the furry thing, a squirrel by the looks up. Exactly what I needed. I skin it and poor my water on it, but just a little bit. I wrap the squirrel around my arm, tying it at the tail. A little gross, but it would help the pain. I brush myself off and start heading toward what looked like a closed exhibit, good to hide. Gathering my supplies I sudenly hear a cry. Of pain? No those were tears, I'd heard of them before. I creep toward the noise instictively. It grows closer and closer until I feel like I am right next to it. I dart behind the nearest bush. Two tributes stand there, the boy in the girls arms. The girl was a career, I remember that. Vicious and harsh, she was. The boy's face was hard to see but he looked familiar. District 8. Didn't we kill him already? I feel a stab of annoyance. Can't these people just DIE alright all ready? They look well fed and I feel my own stomach rumble. Wish I could just kill them and take their food. No...the girl looked strong and their were two of them. Yet could I talk myself into an alliance? Nah, probaly not. They'd kill a big kid like me on sight.

"Get it together, Taylor." The girl whispers, sounded annoyed and sorry at the same time.

I creep lower into the bush as the girls eyes dart around. Don't kill, me.I prayed silentley. Seriously, or I'll kill you.

" Get it together, Taylor," I whispered to him. I don't know what shad come over him, but it wasn't helpful. I was stressed enough, having to deal with Austin's death, my injury, and the Games overall, now this? I felt for him, the games were hard for everyone, but I wasn't good at this comforting thing.

I heard a faint rustling in the woods to my left, and I saw a flash of white. " In the woods," I breathed into Taylor's ear. He stiffened in my arms. I felt around with my arm hidden by my body for my sword. When I gripped it, I relaxed a little, knowing that no one could hurt me now, whether that was their intentions or not. Keeping my sword in my hands, I kept feeling around for Taylor's knife. When I found it, I pushed it towards him until he grabbed it.

The thing in the woods moved again, this time closer. I tensed and moved a little away from Taylor. The thing moved again, and I caught a glimpse of a face. The guy from district 7, I think. HE didn't have the element of surprise anymore, and it was two against one. There was little chance he'd attack us.

" Do you want to attack him?" Taylor asked. I looked at him, and he was still shaken up. It would probably be me against the other guy, Taylor wouldn't be much help unless he pulled himself together.

" No. Do you want to call him out, or wait?" I asked back. I wanted to call him out, but I wasn't sure.

" Call him out."

"Ok" I whispered. The I stood up and faced our spier. " Show yourself!" I yelled. He paused for a moment, then walked through the trees with his hands up.

" Uh, hi, do you want to have an alliance?" He asked. I was surprised. I was sure he was going to run away, guess not.

Claire

"C'mon, hurry up. It's getting dark."

Actually, it IS dark already, dusky shadows spreading from the base of the buildings. The Animal Kingdom is louder than the rest of the arena, and bird song, or sometimes distant roars break the silence. But it's still quiet. A little too quiet for my liking. Hopefully everyone is at the cornucopia. Earlier we heard a cannon blast--someone else dead. We won't know who until the anthem plays. I've accepted that we're still alive, but there are still too many people. I've lost count. How many are even left besides us? Twelve? Thirteen? And what am I going to do if it's ever just us?

"Claire, do you hear that?"

"What?" I snap. The last thing I want to do is talk to her. And she keeps hearing things I don't. It's irritating. "No, wait. I hear it."

Voices. Three of them, one high, two lower. But where? Suddenly feeling exposed, I look around. We're standing in the middle of a shadowy path, and the way the landscaping is laid out makes it hard to see in any direction.

"They haven't seen us yet," she hisses. "This way."

We duck around the side of a small brick building marked "private." Sure enough, only a hundred yards away are three tributes. Two of them have their backs to us and are standing together. The third is standing halfway in, halfway out of the woods, staring at them. They aren't talking now. A confrontation of some kind? The breeze only blows snatches of their words towards us. I look to the other side of the building. If I go around behind, there's a bench there, a trashcan, partially burnt bush. I'd be concealed there, have a better angle at their backs while they're distracted.

Skye follows my gaze, nods at me. This could be our only chance. I move around, crouched, and clutching the first dagger in my hand.

In Animal Kingdom with Skye, concealed but looking at Red Ferring, Sparkle, and Taylor. In a few second's I'm gonna throw the knife.

"Uh, do you want to have an alliance?" He asked. I considered this.

"Well, I think-"

"Sparkle!" I interrupted her. "Could we discuss this in private for a few minutes first?" I practically begged. In this game, it could be fatal if you make the wrong move. I walked over a few feet, suddenly alert from my breakdown moments before.

"Look. I don't want to make the wrong move here. He seems like the kind of guy who could be easily tricked. I'm not sure if I really want an alliance." I stated my case.

"Well, maybe he could be useful?" She suggested.

"Yeah, but he was pretty stupid to come out in the open like that without a weapon."

"True. But maybe, we can use him is what I'm saying. But did you see him with a weapon of any kind?" I glanced over at him staring awkwardly at us. I didn't see a weapon. But he looked kind of pathetic. I felt bad for the guy.

"Okay. How about he joins our alliance, and then, when he's asleep, we can kill him, and take his stuff. I just really don't trust him."

"Alright, I guess. I'm not sure that he has any supplies that are worthwhile, but it's worth a shot." We walked back over to him and simply said, "You're in." The look of joy and relief on his face was unbearable, knowing we would have to kill him soon.

I have no idea what possesed me to go out there and ask for an alliance. Honestly, I looked pathetic and totally forgot my knife. They could have totally shot me. Or knifed me. Whatever. As the girl, Sparkle, and the boy were disscusing were my fate. I saw the suspicion on the boy's face. Idiot weaver boy. I must have been bigger than him and probaly stronger. They come over to me.
"Your in."
Relief floods through me, but I try not to show it. I didn't want to show weakness. I scan the boy's.
"Good. My name is Red. I know your Sparkle, but who are you?"
"Taylor Silk."
I almost laugh. Silk? From like the weaving district. Ha. We stand in an awkward silence when I here footsteps.
"Do you guys here that?"
Taylor shrugs.
"Hear what?"
"Quiet."
There's no more noise, but I see something glint behind an old rusted trash can. Someone was looking at us. I see the sun brighten. My insticts kick in. One of us was going to die.If I was lucky, I'd be that Silk kid, who still didn't trust me. I push Sparkle to the ground and she yelps as I dart to the ground.
"You miiight wanna duck," I whisper to Taylor.
"Wait what?"
I hiss in annoyance and pull his leg down.
"The game is trying NOT to die."
Crawling back to my bush I retrieve my knife, flint, and half-full water bottle. I'd been so useless with that thing...
"Someone's watching us," I hiss back at Sparkle and Taylor "so..."
I never even got to finish my sentence. 'Cause right then the knife came through.

The fiesty one just barely got away. The other was dead, Zana confirmed that. There was something wrong with the water. But Cos needed it. She had to have it.

"Don't do it." Zana warned, giving Cos an odd look.

"I have to..." Her eyes locked on the water, the beautiful, flowing, wonderful... She leaned way over the side, hands fumbling with the lid to her water bottle, mouth open to drink as much water as she could swallow...

And with a final spasm, her head splashed down.

She couldn't move. she couldn't do anything. Her wide, blank eyes watched the precious water replace the air from her bottle, the canister sinking as bubbles escaped. Zana ran about the bottom of the pool, panicking, pushing at her face, though her efforts did nothing. Water lapped about her mouth, acting as a barrier, keeping oxygen from finding her now burning lungs...

and then suddenly she could move. Numb, spasming fingers managed to grab the bottle as she dragged her head from the pool, her wet hair hanging before her as she gasped for air. She jammed the lid on her bottle, precious drops escaping as she did so, making her jerky way to the cover of forest...

"Don't go that way." Zana shouted, pawing at her face, trying to get her to turn around. Her paws went through Cos's skin with a warm tingle.

"Shh..." she cooed, still going. She was close... so close...

Then she nearly tripped over the small figure before her. Specs. Little Specs from training. She'd promised him She'd take care of him, protect him in the games. Tears of relief came to her eyes; she'd found him! Surely he'd remember her, he could watch out for her, she'd give him some of my water so he wouldn't have to go towards that horrid fountain...

"Specs..." Cos said, reaching out for him with my bad arm. His eyes locked into hers, and were surprisingly indifferent as they traveled down to her arm, to the hilt of the dagger.

"Blood poisoning." He said calmly. "It has been festering for a few days. Without treatment, it will spread to the heart in 14 hours. It would kill you in about 18, after 4 hours of excruciating pain."

"Specs?"

He reached forward, rocking on a contraption strapped to his leg, and laid a few fingers on the hilt, sending pain down her arm and causing her to fall to her knees with a cry. The dagger slipped out of her pus-filled wound easily, and there wasn't even any clean blood on it, only dried, crusty yellow. But blood was gushing now, pouring, hot and sticky, down her arm.

"Blood loss," Specs started. "Shorter, easier. I will not have to hunt you down or wait for you to die off if the trap works well enough today." He mused out loud, carefully stepping over her arm as she reached up to him. Her full waterbottle rolled away, but he had no intrest in that. He instead picked up her small bag, opening it to examine the iodine, sunglasses and tweezers. He nodded, putting the bag over one shoulder and pushing the dagger down his splint, not giving the dying girl a last look as he walked off.

It was cold, so cold. People had been passing her by for what seemed like hours, assuming she was already dead. Zana had left, too, leaving her alone, so completely alone as she shivered in the pool of her drying blood.

Though in truth, she'd been alone all along.

Specs Wyre

The dying girl was of no intrest to him. She had indeed asked for his alliance in training, but that was a long time ago. She would just hold them all back, groups of four didn't work as well. Luna Von-Trapp had also been a hinderance, but she, too, was dead now. Which was good, meaning he didn't have to find a way to get rid of her without alarming the other two. He still needed his team, now more than ever with his injured leg.

He'd share the new supplies with his teammates, but not the dagger. He'd positioned it in a place that both his pants and his splint hid it well, and it wouldn't injure his leg more. He needed it, especially now that the tazer was temporarily useless, seeing as the batteries had gone to powering the fountain.

Forming a rhythm with his splint and his good leg, he plodded off to find Charlie and Victor. They were near, he knew that. they would be happy for the iodine, and probably wold let him keep the tweezers, he would use those to fine-tune his splint.

He smiled slightly as he found them, seeing as that would be the appropriate response to the current events, what with the trap working and another tribute dead. But he felt none of the happiness that usually came with a smile as his mind worked out what to do next, and how to further the group in the games.

Cosette Tanner is dead. Specs has her supplies, except for the full waterbottle, which is somewhere around the fountain, and fair game for anyone who wants it.
Hmmm...this snake is called a "Water Moccasin" so in THEORY I should be able to strap them to my feet and cross this river like Jesus?

Hush. Optimus is speaking.
