Everything went past so fast. I just ran and ran, it was unbelieveable, really. I didn't pick anything up, this was very unlike my nature. I'm a person of planning. Of brains. Not incredible speed and doing anything to save myself.

I eventually found myself with my district partner, Tenchi. We was safe for the time been. In some tall building away from the ruthless players outside. I closed my eyes to a moment of happiness, I saw myself winning this thing, the dream was a bit over-dramatic, with a giant trophy and the other tributes cheering. "Go Sparrow! You won it!" They say you have a feeling of complete happiness before you freeze to death. Ah, well, if I freeze to death atleast I'll be happy.

I awoke from my dream of winning the hunger games to a great fire. I don't know who started it, I don't know if anyone has died. "I don't know anything!" I shouted outloud in panic. I ran out of the building, trying to block the screams of terror out of my head. I bolted towards a huge dome, I avoided the middle of the arena and stuck to the dark parts were nobody could spot him out. Wait...of course they could target him. He was weak, and scared. He was the perfect kill. I saw someone come towards me, hiding a knife. She came right up to me so she could stab me there and then. But instead she asked for my name. "Vincent Knight...you?" I hope she was going to become my new partner. I needed some items desperatley and hopefully they'd atleast give me their non-useful or uneeded ones.
Tell the people Mazzi is here! To defend the defenseless! Befriend the friendless! And to defeat...the defeatless!

P.S and to love Lemurs!

I was scared. In fact, I was terrified. I looked around, and all I saw was the thirst for blood in the eyes of my enemies. I heard the gong and I was off.
I knew I was fast, but apparently everyone else here was faster. I could see the Cornucopia, and I was hoping I would get something worthwhile. I arrived at the Coruncopia and grabbed the first thing I saw. Luckily and coincidentally, it was a needle and thread. I also grabbed a knife, some dried fruit, and a flint stone. I didn't dare to go any closer to the middle. I turned around just in time to see the other tribute from my district stabbed. I didn't really know her, but I had seen her around at school. She always seemed nice, and now she was dead. I was in shock, but I knew everyone here would be dead soon anyway. I knew that for a fact, because I had to go home. My family. Home. All of these thoughts flooded into my head as I was running. I saw a wooded area in the distance and headed for it.
When I got there, I set up a camp. I made a fire and curled up next to it. I absent-mindedly played with the thimble around my neck. I thought about what I said to my sister before she went into the games. "Please come home." Then I remembered my family watching the games, and seeing her killed. And now that I was in the games, I was afraid that the same thing would happen to me.

So, it seemed like my competitors were idiots. But I'd always thought that of the people in my District, so maybe human beings were just idiots. Or maybe I just wasn't human.
No bother, though, I had bigger things to deal with.

I'd managed to survive the roaring fire that had swept through the arena by sheer luck; probably because I was just as terrified of water, so I'd headed up high. I hated heights, but I hated the thought of drowning or burning more. Now, I was stuck. Well, not really stuck. Stuck mentally, per say. I just wasn't sure what to do.

At first, I'd just been patient. I stayed the longest at the starting line, waiting for people to go off and hack each other to pieces over useless objects--something I knew always happened.
I'd then wandered off, deciding to stick to level one only. I'd crossed the strip of land, shaking at the realization I was surrounded by water, then found what I needed.

It was simple really, especially since everyone seemed to have dashed off before they claimed their right. Of course, I stuck to whatever shadows I could find and stayed out of sight. Out of sight, out of mind. That was the best thing. I'd found the blade of a pocket-knife, a tarp, and an empty water bottle, then found some sunglasses lying on the ground. I wasn't sure where they'd come from, or who'd knocked them out, but I'd taken them anyway.

Then I'd high-tailed it out of there.

I'd found a place to stay, not sure where, and everything had been fine. Until the fire started. My plan had been to hide out, then out through what was left at the Cornucopia. That hadn't worked, obviously.

So now I was in some part of Animal Kingdom called "Asia", up on what seemed to be a fake mountain, with all my goods held in my white t-shirt.

I frowned at the thing. White was obvious. I'd need to find some mud to get in...

I just shook my head and watched the fire burn out, animals racing across the grounds, looking for some sort of escape--some on fire, some not. The grass was mostly gone and many trees were black.
I had the feeling the Cornucopia would be empty--or burnt out.

He got the tarp, the empty water bottle, and the pocket-knife blade from level one. He is now in the Asia Section of Animal Kingdom.

((First post...way late...yeah...I'll move things along in the next post. This is just an assumed re-cap.))

Thank you, guys, for posting so I didn't have to do a double-post!

James Haltinger

I sat up in bed suddenly, trying to forget the wild dream I'd just woken from. Sunlight was streaming through the windows, and as I looked outside, I realized that the wildfire sent by the Gamemakers was finally over. Thank goodness for that.

"Suppose it's really over," I sang quietly. "Didn't want to believe it. How could you do this? Did you ever think about how we would feel? And what about our district? A mother's love reaches far beyond what she can see.

"I can't really change it, what you've done for us, now, though my heart is torn in two when I think about you. But in the end, I guess, it really was for the best. Just remember, hold it close, the thought that I'll be always thinking of you."

I held the last note out for a long time, and then sighed and reached for all my belongings again. I'd have to make my way out of this place back towards the trail Maple had laid for me. So I got to my feet and tested out my left leg. Hmm...the movement when it walked wasn't nearly as jagged or abrupt as it had been yesterday, but it still shot pain up my leg. Better than yesterday, though.

As I walked back towards the stairs, I noticed a dusty old elevator to the left. Oh, how tempting it was to rush over there to rest my aching legs, but I knew that to do so would lead to my death. Who knows where the Gamemakers could send me in that thing. Besides, it could break down the instant I set foot inside it.

After trying--and failing--to go down the stairs like I normally would, I resigned myself to a childish way of sliding down the steps. It bounced my leg all around, shooting lances of pain at me, but it was much better than making my way down the first way. If only there were still mentors and gifts allowed. Then, I'd actually have a chance of dragging this stupid leg around without being slowed down.

I cautiously went out the back exit that had been locked from the inside, eyes scanning the forest for any sign of enemies nearby.

Nothing.

So I began walking again, but every once in a while, I'd check around me (and silently complain about my leg again) to look for other tributes, or possibly worse things around. The trail was not as clear as it had been yesterday, but I figured the path with all of the burnt petals on it would be the one Maple had laid the original flowers on. After a little while, the trail branched off into two separate paths, but there weren't any petals.

As I raised my head skyward in exasperation, I saw the old, long-disused Monorail tracks rising above me.

Wait a minute...Monorail tracks! They followed a trail, too!

My gut feeling told me that this was the way to go, and I naturally followed it. I had a slight bit of misgivings as to whether or not my gut feeling was actually right this time (most of the time, it had been at least partly right, but there had been several painful exceptions), but I shook them off and continued on my way.

Soon enough, I reached a dusty road that also followed the Monorail tracks. I didn't want to just stroll down the road, and I didn't want to cross it either. Something about those dark woods over on the left side of the road just made me feel like there was something dark and evil in there.

So I moved farther away from the road back into the forest on the right side of the road, but every quarter-mile or so I would make sure I was still following the road and the Monorail tracks. After about, say, four times of doing these, I looked up and saw a Disney resort rising gracefully to meet the sky.

Was this the one?

I glanced at the road. It curled around the building and then led to who knows where; same with the Monorail tracks.

Then I saw the beautiful flowers planted in the little garden just before the moat-style water in front of the actual resort. Yes, this was it. The problem was, where would Maple be in this building? Because I'd never before seen so many windows winking in the sunlight. I sighed. Well, at least the place looked comfortable. Maybe the beds here would actually have blankets.

So, after checking once more to make sure nothing threatening was sneaking up on me, I entered the quiet building and looked for some signs that would direct me to where Maple was, or at least a place I could relax in before going to find her.

The nearest one said that the spa was to the left, while the bedrooms were either upstairs or to the right. Without hesitation I chose the spa. It would be a wonderful place to rest my leg. So I rushed to the left and, sure enough, at the very end of the hallway were the double-doors announcing 'SPA' all over them.

As I reached for the doorknob, I hesitated. There could well be unfriendly strangers in there. And they might not take so kindly to me barging in on what they considered their personal space.

I took out the two daggers, including the pocket-knife I'd retrieved with all of its little tools, and held them ready, one in each hand, as I slowly turned the doorknob and rushed inside, in a defensive stance, looking wildly for any unwelcome visitors.

Then my eyes widened as I saw....

I woke up to bright, warm sunshine shining right into my face. I got up and looked out over the edge of the roof at the burned world below me. I could see scorched trees and plants everywhere, but there was surprisingly little damage compared to fire. The Gamemakers didn't want to ruin everything, just us, I suppose.

Now what could I do? Stay here, go somewhere else? I decided I might as well move on, maybe I'd find something to help me live. Nothing here would help me, so, might as well move on. I looked over the roof to try to see the best place to go. There was buildings, but those were limiting. Rides, but those were unpredictable. My best chance of survival, it seemed, was in the woods.

I began the decent down the building thinking about Austin. I new i shouldn't, the winners never thought about the dead, but I couldn't help it. He was even younger than me, and he gave himself up. What if I died, would someone think about me? I told myself I couldn't think those thoughts, those were loser thoughts. and I was a winner.

I reached the door out of the building, and checked my stuff. I opened my backpack for the first time. I had some poison, a sweatshirt and socks, which I put both on, bug spray, crackers, and beef. I ate three crackers and moved on.

Soon, thirst was ripping at my throat. I shouldn't have had the crackers, I wasn't that hungry anyway. I looked at some of the murky water near me, it didn't look safe, but nothing was in the games. Maybe if I had some without the muck, I'd be safe. I went towards the water and searched for a patch that wasn't to murky. I soon found one that looked alomost clear, it would do. I leaned over to sip some, and the smell hit me. It was sickly sweet, not like normal water. I scooped some up in my hands reluctantly, and the smell disipated a bit. I sipped a little, and it tasted almost normal. I spent the next fifteen minutes slowly sipping it away. I felt fine, but would I in a hour?

Well there was still a little light, in the day, I had been able to find some leaves for a bed. I used my needle to weave a few together, and I had a makeshift blanket. I figured I'd be warmer than most tributes.

As the sun slipped below the horizon, a darker light emerged. I squinted to see flames burning in the distance, getting steadily closer. I panicked. These were the games, and that fire was meant to kill us tributes or gather us. Based on the speed, I'd say it was more of a killing fire than a gathering one. I gathered my stuff clumsily and ran away from the flames.

The next few hours her a blur. All I remember was running, tripping, and getting back up. I didn't see any other tributes, but that was good, right? It meant they might be dead, and I might have more of a chance of winning.

I reached some woods, and the fire seemed to be slowing. The fire just reached the edge, but the heat reached me. It was warmer than anything I had felt, it was like my skin was burning away. I ducked my head and hid behind a tree until the fire dissapeared, which it finally did. Exhausted, I slumpt to the ground. This would have to be my bed for the night.

I'd never been in the woods much, and here I am, trusting them with my life. I didn't know that at night the trees seemed to come alive and bend towards you, just waiting for you to get up and be entangled by it's snarled branches. I didn't know how the snap of a twig breaking could wake you up with your heart pounding, but now I do, and I'm scared. No point hiding it, I don't need to impress any sponsors. And all the people watching, why not give them a weak tribute to watch? Then I thought of my parents and siblings watching me die, like we'd watched my sister. I couldn't be weak for them, I couldn't let them see me give up all hope. I fell asleep dreaming of hope, hope and winning.

I woke up to a sword pointed at my face.

"No!" I shrieked. I tried to make up an excuse, to not show my sentimental spot for animals. "What if it comes up and bites me or something?"

"just kill the bear!"She growled.

"F-Fine. With what, though?"

"Try to grab the dagger, while I get the other things." The dagger was closest to the bear.

"You mean you want me to be bait?"

'No! Get the dagger and stab it!" She ordered.

"I'm crazy. Wish me luck." I mumbled, drawing in closer to the bear. It began to growl lightly. I yelped, throwing myself back, into Clair. We both fell, sprawling in opposite directions as the great bear tottered up. Confused, he looked back and forth between the two of us, but ultimately begins towards Clair.

'Clair!" I shriek, getting up and ignoring the pain. I sprint to her, grabbing her arm and pulling her out of the way of the bear's huge jaws.

"Thanks." She said.

'Thank me when this...thing is dead!"I grab a rock from the ground and throw it at the bear as I rush the opposite direction from my friend. She seems to be hurt; she isn't getting up. Hopefully she's just winded.

"Hey! Stupid!" I scream, throwing another stone. It growled, beginning towards me. I try to sprint past it to grab the dagger; I succeed with a bite mark in my lag. I grab the other dagger while I'm there, and pass it to Claire. Thank heavens she's getting up.

"Your turn."

I woke to a jingling sound. I waited a moment, thinking it was a bell, and I was back in my bed in district 11, but then I felt the messed up skin beneath me and the smell of rotting wood in the air. My eyes flashed open and I looked around for the source of the jingling. It was the doorknob.

I weighed my options. I could freak and try to run, but that wouldn't be logical. I could hide, but there was nowhere good to hide and I breath to loudly. I could attack whoever was coming in, ruling out the possibility of animals due to there inability to open doors. But I had the upper had here; I knew someone was coming and had a weapon; my tooth. And what if it was James?

I chose to wait. I twas agravating, but I focused on holding my makeshift knife correctly instead of worrying. Finally, my patiance was rewarded. The door opened to reveal James, whose wary face instantly looked relieved.

" Hey, good! You're alive!" He paused and looked at the dead carcas in the corner. " And you have breakfast!"

I smiled slightly, feeling proud. I'd gotten us food and a blanket, kind of, well he'd found me. I obviously had the upper hand here. He limped over to the tiger and examined it.

" Hey, how did you hurt your leg?" I asked.

" Oh, at the Cornucopia, someone hit me." SInce he was walking on it i figured he didn't break it. I went over and looked at it anyway. It was all black and blue, like what happened to my leg when a branch fell on it once. He'd be fine as soon as he stopped walking on it, but I wouldn't tell him that. It increased my chances of winning by being the stronger in the alliance. I'd tell him tomorrow, maybe.

" So, do you want to stay here or move on?" I asked.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

My hands are shaking. It's because I'm scared. No. It isn't. My entire body is shaking. "Skye," I choke out, stumbling. My eyes waver in and out of focus. The boy is lying there, and I notice for the first time the piece of rope cluched in his hand He didn't deserve to die. Neither did the bear.

Then the concrete is rushing up to meet my face, and I can't control my body. Then I hear the Gamemaker's voice, echoing hollowly through the arena, but I can't hear what he's saying.

I'm having a seizure. Why am I having a seizure?

It's because of the water. It's the only thing I've allowed past my lips since I entered the arena. But what can I do? The sky has black spots on it.

"Claire! It's dead!" Skye's voice sounds odly loud. "The fountain. Should we go for it? Are you ok?"

I moan, lifting a hand to my face.

Still in Animal Kingdom with Skye.

Hey, sorry for not posting. Before and over Christmas, I was too busy to post, and after that the task seemed a little daunting so I just put it off, but I'm back and will try to post at least once a day now that the holidays are over.

Ellette Brynn

Dexter momentarily abandoned Luna, who had passed out, and helped Ellette fight the monster. It looked to be some sort of demented fish, morphed and mutated by the sludge, most likely. It had a long torso, sleek and slippery, and a long snout and tail fin. Rows of tiny, needle-like teeth jutted from it's wide mouth.

Not a goldfish, Ellette thought, but not too much worse.

The fish sank away and shot back up, teeth bared. It rammed into Ellette's torso, pushing toward the side of the lake. Sparks lit her sleeve, but she dove under the water to douse them. When she came up, she kicked the fish monster, on the snout and gills. It squealed and swam away.

Across the lake, the fire started to die down, then finally squelched. It only took a few minutes.

"Come on," Ellette said, "there might be more fish things. Now that the fire's gone, we should get onto land."

"Great!" Luna said.

Together, Dexter and Ellette swam Luna to the shore. Because Luna's leg was still awful, and they didn't have any hope of getting a sponsor gift, they decided to try and camp out then search for supplies, water, food, whatever.

Luna leaning on Dexter, they walked to the nearest main ride, Ellette in tow. The ride was some sort of faux mountain in the corner of the animal place. Roller coaster tracks wove in and out of it.

"I'm going to check out in there," Ellette said. "Dex, stay here with Luna. I'll be back soon."

Ellette hopped over a railing onto a cement path by the entrance. She ducked into the shadows as she entered the strange building. Sloping ceiling and wooden stairs, the building echoed despite Ellette's soft steps. She walked the labyrinth of roped-off paths.

Along the paths, displays with tribal masks, fake documents, old mountain climbing gear, and so-called yeti sightings stuck out. Each was creepier than the last. Finally, Ellette came to a more open room, a long shelter that was open on each sides. Two coaster tracks lay side by side going out each opening. Operator booths stood vacant and the empty lines were desolate. A shiver ran up Ellette's spine.

It's just a Game. This is just part of the Game. Make it through this, and you'll be that much closer to winning. Winning's all that matters. This isn't so bad. And it's empty.

After searching employees-only hallways and rooms, Ellette ran back outside. "It's all empty. And best yet, there are lots of hallways before you get to the main part, and it all echoes, so we'll know when someone's coming!"

We've got a leg up in the Game.

"Good. Now let's get inside." It was easy to tell that Luna was getting wary from being out in the open. Sure, she had Dexter, but he was one person. And with her being crippled and Ellette pint-sized, cover was there best bet.

Slowly, because of Luna's leg, they made their way into the building. Once in the main room with the tracks, Luna lay against the main operator's booth while Dexter and Ellette crouched beside her, and they discussed what to do.

"We need water," said Luna. Her need was probably only increased by what Ellette imagined would be searing heat in her leg. Ellette winced at the thought and blocked it out.

It's just a part of the Games. And it's not as bad as it looks.

With the red skin blistery and scabbing and raw all at the same time, how could it?

"We also need food," said Dexter. "And some other supplies wouldn't hurt either."

"Well," Ellette said, "look outside. It's getting dark and'll be night time soon. We should sleep tonight, and in the morning I'll go try and find some stuff. Dexter, you should probably stay with Luna."

"Can we wait that long before getting dehydrated?" Dexter looked concernedly at Luna.

"It's too dangerous at night. Even if I went out, it'd be too hard to find anything and I wouldn't be able to see anyone coming. We should wait."

They all agreed and decided to rest. It took a while, but they all managed to fall asleep.

...

When Ellette awoke, a booming voice echoed through the hall - the Gamemaker.

"Tributes the fire seems to have left you with clear sweet water. Do you dare drink it? I noticed that the fountain in front of the cornucopia is up and running again. Maybe that is the only water that hasn't been tinkered with. Then again it could hurt you worse. It is really your choice."

Looks like searching for water wouldn't be so hard after all.

At Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom with Luna Jasmine and Dexter Roland. Oh, and guys, what supplies do we have, if any? I forget.

...Nothing. The entire spa was empty. I shrugged, limped over to the thermometer showing the water temperature, and glanced at it skeptically. 86 degrees wasn't particularly hot, and yet there was steam rising off the surface of the water. I carefully got down on my knees and hesitated as I stared down at the water. Should I risk it?

Gingerly, I dipped my fingers in the water, and then relaxed as no sudden lance of pain shot up my arm. I proceeded to lower my injured leg into the water and sighed. Ah, that did the trick wonderfully. I could feel all the damage slowly draining away as if by magic. How long I stayed there, I don't know...but I eventually remembered about Maple, and guiltily got to my feet and hurried out of the spa. While I was hurrying towards the actual rooms in this resort, I glanced down at my leg and nearly started as I saw its condition: still black and blue, like it had been since yesterday, but not nearly as bad as earlier this morning.

But now, which room would Maple be in?

Probably a room on the upper levels, just as a precaution from the fire. I looked at the sign and saw that the three upper levels were floors 3, 4, and 5. Looking around for an elevator, I rushed to the end of the hallway and got in. There were no buttons, so I simply prayed to an unseen god that there wouldn't be enemies waiting for me wherever the Gamemakers sent me.

The doors opened and I walked out to see a big level 4 sign right in front of me. I limped over to it and looked to see the room designations. Straight ahead were rooms 400-411; down another hallway, to my right, were rooms 412-425. My eyes, though they read the whole sign and looked at all of the numbers, kept getting drawn back to 411.

Might as well give it a try, I thought. Only twenty-five rooms each floor, times five floors total, equaled a hundred and twenty-five rooms. But I'd narrowed out the first floor completely, so that made a hundred. And then there were the rooms that had the number of our district tacked on at the end.

Five.

I smiled and limped to the nearest room. 411 already? Well, I wasn't complaining. But I glanced around me first to make sure no one was sneaking up on me from behind or anything like that, and just in case, I took out my two knives. Then I tried the doorknob.

Locked.

I sighed. Oh, this was just great. But it was one of the rooms that held the best chance of housing Maple inside. I couldn't just ignore it now that I'd come right in front of it. Quickly, I took the pocketknife out, examined the blades briefly, and used the sharpest one to jiggle the lock back and forth. Eventually I heard something click and felt a wave of exultation rising up in me, but I hesitated before opening the door.

Whoever was in there had locked the door. And right now, they had all the advantages.

I didn't really want to break the door down, partly because I'd already unlocked it, but mostly because that would be another injured, bruised part of my body to deal with: my shoulder. So I'd have to open the door and face whoever was inside. Great.

I edged silently over to the door, holding my two knives in my right hand, ready and pointing outward, and put my left hand on the doorknob.

"Get ready," I told myself silently. "On three. One...two...three!"

I swung the door open and immediately got into a defensive stance, gaze searching wildly around the room for any potential enemies. And then I saw Maple.

She looked a little tired, but relieved to see me. I noticed that she also had a weapon, some sort of makeshift knife that looked strangely like...a carnivore's tooth?

But I shook those thoughts away and smiled, hiding my feelings of worry at how she'd react to my presence. "Hey, good! You're alive!" Then I noticed the carcass slung on the floor in the far corner of the room. "And you have breakfast!"

I noticed that she smiled slightly. That was a relief. But I didn't like the calculating look in her eyes, the gleam as she appeared to size me up. I didn't let her catch me staring, though, as I moved over to the carcass--whatever dead animal it was--and examined it. A tiger, eh? Like that old horror movie they'd told us about back home. Apparently this was the creature she'd gotten her weapon from.

Well, I couldn't say I was useless either, remembering the different supplies I'd gotten, however random and unsatisfying they seemed at the moment.

"Hey, how did you hurt your leg?" she asked suddenly.

I grimaced and turned back towards the tiger, pretending to shrug it off. "Oh, at the Cornucopia, someone hit me," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant about it. While my back was turned, I was clenching the hilt of the pocketknife so tightly my knuckles turned white.

After a pause where I felt someone's eyes boring into me, Maple asked, "So do you want to stay here or move on?"

I carefully put the knives back into the little bag I'd taken from the supply lines and turned back towards her, chewing my lip as I considered the pros and cons of each option.

"It's pretty comfortable here, and I haven't seen anyone around the vicinity lately..." I began slowly. Maple nodded in agreement with what I said, and I continued, "But we can't just stay in one place all the time. It's only the second day, but a day's walking is plenty of time for the other tributes to catch on to where we might be. Particularly those that move fast."

"So...when do we leave?" she asked, face a mask.

"After breakfast," I replied automatically, reaching behind my back to reveal the water jug that was still pretty full.

"All right," Maple replied, walking over to the carcass. But suddenly, our work was interrupted by an announcement that somehow, through unseen speakers, made its way into our room, no doubt from the Gamemakers:

"Tributes, the fire seems to have left you with clear, sweet water. Do you dare drink it? I noticed that the fountain in front of the Cornucopia is up and running again. Maybe that is the only water that hasn't been tinkered with. Then again, it could hurt you worse. It is really your choice."

Maple and I exchanged glances with each other.

"We're not about to go straight out to the Cornucopia again," we said in unison.

Specs Wyre

It wasn't the worst thing ever to be carried by Charlie. Humiliating and degrading, yes, but it took the pressure off of his leg. It was stupid of her to come and 'rescue' him, if the lion had recognized her weakness and distracted-ness in that moment they would've both been dead. Charlie kicked the door closed behind her, loping in an awkward way up the stairs with the boy. Luckily, lions couldn't open doors, so that particular one just resorted to roaring loudly (and though Specs would never admit it, it caused him quite a scare) at the door.

"You should not have done that." Specs said stubbornly.

"You're welcome." She panted, coming up on the next floor. "Victor?"

"What the hell was that?" Victor was pacing the loft. "Seriously, we've been chased by careers, thrown out windows, trapped by a fire, and now there's a lion?" He was clearly distressed. "I mean, it's only the first night!"

Charlie looked at specs, then around the room. "Uh, hold on... Well..." She looked sheepishly at Specs. "I'll just..." She lowered him awkwardly into a corner, amongst scattered two-by-fours and bits of metal. "Uh, stay there." She turned to go get Victor to calm down.

Specs wasn't phased in the least by his unceremonious positioning, in fact, he was quite pleased with it. The supplies at hand were perfect...

A few hours later, with the tazer sparking away for light a safe distance away, he bent the last piece of copper wire around a discarded screw. It was rough, for his work, at least. But the splint held his broken bone in place, while still giving him use of his leg. Granted, the attachment at the end made the broken leg slightly longer than his good leg, but that was necessary to displace the weight to his hip, above the broken part. the one major downfall, however, was that he had to move the knee joint manually, and in his tests the joint had a habit of sticking, but maybe with the added weight it would run easier. He tied a black, plastic-covered cable to the joint for easy maneuvering. He should've tried it out, he really should have, but he was dead tired, and 75% of tributes died while fatigued or sleep-deprived.

"Kid? Uh, kid. Poindexter or whatever."

Specs opened his eyes. The sun came through the windows at a particular angle, it was still rather low in the sky. He calculated out the angle, applied with the time of the year and relative latitude-longitude to find that it was about 8:00 to 8:15 AM. Victor was leaned over him, looking doubtfully at the contraption made of copper wire, electrical power cords, rusty screws and 2x4's strapped to his leg.

"Did you catch any of that? Big announcement?" Victor made a vauge motion to the window.

"A Gamemaker announcement?" Specs asked. He positioned the splint, raising himself from the dusty floor. "What did they say?"

"Tributes, the fire left you with clear sweet water. Do you dare drink it? The fountain in front of the cornucopia is running again. The water there might be clean, but it might be worse." Charlie paraphrased. "It's a feast, isn't it?"

"Sounds like it is a tactic to get the tributes in one place." Specs piped up. "Do we go? Or do we wait? 78% tributes go at the beginning, we-"

"Please, no more statistics." Victor massaged the skin between his eyes.

Specs shut up. He felt the rusty hinge in his splint grab and slip at random, it wouldn't be reliable at all, but it was the best he could do for now. It was up to the others whether or not they took the gamemaker offer. His throat was dry and his stomach empty, but he could deal for a while. The human body could last three days without water, three weeks without food.

hopefully...

Hmmm...this snake is called a "Water Moccasin" so in THEORY I should be able to strap them to my feet and cross this river like Jesus?

Hush. Optimus is speaking.

Charlie Carter

I was tired, hungry, thirsty, and I ached all over. The sun hitting my eyes was nothing. I blinked rapidly dots filling my vision for a few seconds. Sitting up made pain shoot through my body, but I knew the only way to get rid of the soreness was to stretch. I ran my tongue across my teeth looking for a bit of moisture. I wished Victors jug was full. My stomach rumbled and I thought of the beef jerky that had been lost in our adventures last night and sighed. It would have just made me crave water more, I tried to comfort myself. It didn’t work.

I wondered what he was thinking right now. Back home. I had no idea what he would be doing. I stood and turned my thoughts away. Don’t think about it. Of course that made me think about it more seeing I was going to die soon and I would never see him again. I realized then that Victor was already up. He was staring out of one of the broken windows over looking the arena. I walked over.

“Hey, watcha looking at.”

“Nothing.”

“What are we gonna do?” He started to reply, but a voice boomed out across the whole landscape.
“The Gamemaker,” I whispered. He just listened.

"Tributes the fire seems to have left you with clear sweet water. Do you dare drink it? I noticed that the fountain in front of the cornucopia is up and running again. Maybe that is the only water that hasn't been tinkered with. Then again it could hurt you worse. It is really your choice." My ears listened to the words, but my eyes wondered. The closest thing to us seemed to be a bunch of slides. Everything was white. The light shone of something and I squinted trying to see if it was water. I thought so, but you couldn’t be sure, the whole place shone.

Just as the talking stopped I remembered the kid. I wiped my head around expecting him to be holding a knife to my throat. I had heard him tinkering in the middle of the night and I had realized anyone was really capable of anything. But, I felt foolish when my eyes landed on the small body that was obviously deep into slumber. Me an Victor were silent for a while I turned back to the window and sat in the opening watching the sun travel up the sky and he stood as lost in thought as I was watching whatever dudes watched. Finally I had to turn around not quite sure how long it had been since the announcement.
“Kid?” I paused for a reaction, “Kid.” No response, “Poindexter or whatever.” I couldn’t remember, but it didn’t mater because his eyes fluttered open.

"Did you catch any of that? Big announcement?" Victor still sounded mad and I was wary of him not sure what he could do or who he was anymore. Last night he had just blown up. Sure he was stressed, but all of the tributes had gone through the fire. The kid sat up

"A Gamemaker announcement?" He yawned, but I was sure he was fully alearted and interested you could tell from his eyes. They always seemed to need to be everywhere all at once. "What did they say?" I watched as he worked with a strange splint like contraption on his leg. I stared for a moment, before realizing Victor was to busy fuming to speak,

"Tributes, the fire left you with clear sweet water. Do you dare drink it? The fountain in front of the cornucopia is running again. The water there might be clean, but it might be worse. It's a feast, isn't it?" I asked just for clarification still staring at the little dude who was now standing. Awkwardly, but he was still standing. It was nice work for a broken leg.

"Sounds like it is a tactic to get the tributes in one place. Do we go? Or do we wait? 78% tributes go at the beginning, we-" The kid sounded happy, bursting to tell his knowledge, but Victor cut him off,

"Please, no more statistics." O.K. so maybe the kid annoyed me too, but he wasn’t that big of a headache Victor was slightly overreacting. It didn’t matter though, I couldn’t just leave them. I needed them to survive even if they were two oddly paired smelly guys. Then again I was glad I couldn’t smell myself at the moment. My aroma was probably something like, blood, burnt hair, sweat, and butt crack.

“We won’t be traveling quickly with your leg.” I eyed the weird contraption, it looked very rusty. “So, there is really no point in trying to move quickly. I mean by the time we got there other people would be waiting with an ambush. Anyway how can we trust the gamemaker?”

“A trap,” Victor was mostly talking to himself.

“I just said we won’t be able to make it there in time.” I was already annoyed.

“Cus of me.” The kid sounded bummed. Bummed enough to say ‘cus’ anyway I never thought such a word could pass through his brainy lips.

“But,” Victor looked like he was concentrating really hard. “I have the skills, if only I could get the supplies I could make a trap. Maybe if I had enough stuff and time all around the fountain.”

“Only careers can do that sort of operation. We would need more people.” I was completely against this plan. That is when a girl popped her head through the window.

“Hi, I’m Luna!”

I am in the top of the Tower of Terror with Specs, Victor, and the female tribute from district two, Luna. I am going to make her character in the DT as soon as I post this. But, she won't be my main person. Only temporary. So control her all you want.

You'd better wise up, Pony... you get tough like me and you don't get hurt. You look out for yourself and nothing can touch you, man.
