I have returned!

Seth

"Do any of you want to try to get the monster?" Jessica asked. I chuckled, then took the grubs from her hand and walked over to Marcie.

"Hey Marcie." I said.

"Ya?"

"I have a question for you." I said. She waited silently.

"Do you want to die here?" I asked. She looked like I was crazy.

"Of course not." she said.

"Well then, you're going to have to eat these." I held up the handful of grubs. "Trust me, they're not that bad." To prove it, I shoved one in my mouth and chewed. She looked discussed, and thought for a minute.

After a while, she sighed.

"Fine." she said, taking the grubs from me. She put them all into her mouth and chewed.

"See, not that bad." I chuckled. Her expression was hilarious. She looked like she was about to puke, but she continued to chew until she finally swallowed them. I knew she was going to hate me, but I didn't want her dead.

Marcie:

Oh, God. Why in the world had I let Seth talk me into eating food--and grubs, at that! I gasped as I swallowed the last bunch, and then I turned and glared at Seth, but it was weak. I could feel the grubs coming back up. I sort of skip-ran to the bushes, my cut making it too hard to run, and then I puked.
Seth came up behind me.
"Uh, is this like your anorexia or just because you ate grubs?" He asked, looking slightly disgusted.
"Probably both," I sighed, and sat down only a few inches away from the mess I'd just made.
"Well, you have to eat something, Marcie."
"I don't have to do--"
He cut me off. "Yeah, you're right. Have fun dying."
I burst out, "Dang it. No. I just...argh!"
"I didn't know teenagers threw such big tantrums," commented Camile as she walked by to go help Jessica, who laughed at Camile's remark.
I glowered.
"Fine, Seth. Get me another handful of that crap."
Seth sighed and handed some more grubs to me. I chewed them and swallowed each one. He looked at me carefully, waiting for history to repeat itself and for me to puke again. I didn't...to even my surprise.
Seth smiled. "Good girl, Marcie."
"I'm not a dog, idiot."

"I'm not a dog, idiot." Marcie said harshly. I chuckled.

"We should start walking again. It's getting dark and we're not even halfway through what we need to travel." Jessica said.

"Alrighty then." I said, standing up. I pointed ahead and said, "Onward!" Camile laughed. I was surprised to find myself actually having fun. Things weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be. It was going to be a fun journey, but one thought kept crossing my mind. I was getting used to this jungle. What if I wasn't going to want to leave?

I stopped thinking about that and remembered the comforts of home. I began to get hopelessly confused, so I tried not to think about that at all.

Marcie:

Jessica was either insane or just hyperactive. I'm thinking insane, because honestly, who sits there and says "lets go hike more! yay!" I mean, really. Is she just that weird?
The cut on my stomach was burning, and it hurt like heck as we walked. I was in the back of the group, with everyone else a ways ahead of me. My breath was ragged; I'd never been much for exercise, and this cut on my stomach didn't feel right at all.
I stopped and sat down on a rock. Chris saw me and motioned to Seth and Jessica that I had stopped. Great, now Jessica was probably going to give me a lecture how I had "brought this all on myself" and was "slowing their progress".
The others walked back to where I was sitting, most of them looking annoyed--not at all worried for me. Idiots.
"Are you okay?" Seth asked.
"Yeah, I'm totally just panting like a dog just for fun," I said bitterly. "No, idiots. The freakin' cut is like...burning. It hurts."
Jessica sighed.
"You need to toughen up if you want to get out of here," she said to me.
"You need to shut the heck up," I countered. "Or I'm going to go psycho and end up killing your precious tiger, too."
"No--you wouldn't dare--"
"Try me." I glowered, and then gasped, my hands going to cover the cut on my stomach. I gritted my teeth and writhed in pain. It felt like it was on fire.
Chris looked skeptically at me, "It's probably infected...the cut, I mean."
"And...?" I sighed through still-gritted teeth.
"We need to put alcohol on it, or something to wash out the bacteria that's infecting it. Thing is, I don't think we HAVE any alcohol or sanitizer..." Chris shrugged.
Seth smiled, "Do you need help walking, Marcie, seeing as we can't do anything to ease your pain, little princess?"
I frowned. Seth usually wasn't like that.
"I'm s-sorry for stopping everyone. Let's go," I said.
Again, I kept to the back of the group, but this time I made no effort to stay with them. Chris watched me from the corner of his eye, and soon looped back and walked with me, supporting me as I felt like crumbling.
"So, you like Seth?" He asked me.
I looked shocked and even stopped walking for a moment before continuing on.
"No, I don't."
"Hmm. Alright then."
I raised an eyebrow. "I guess I did like him, a little bit, I mean he used to be the only guy out here. But it's obvious he's crazy for Jessica."
Chris chuckled. "Yeah, pretty obvious."
"Look, I'm probably going to die, so...you should just leave me here in this clearing and catch up with the group."
Chris shook his head. "No way. I'm playing Superman today."
I laughed.

I kept looking back at Marcie and Chris. I felt bad for what I had said earlier, not knowing why I said it. I was just really tired. Jessica was so much tougher than us all, so it was hard to keep up with her. I was going to go back and help Marcie, but Chris already took care of that. I didn't want to ruin their conversation by apologizing. I decided to help a different way.

"Jessica?"

"Ya?" She didn't stop.

"Maybe we should stop. It's getting late, and Marcie looks like she's having a lot of trouble. I know we haven't gotten that far, but I really think we should stop."

Jessica sighed, then stopped. "Fine." she said. "I guess you're right. Everyone looks tired."

I smiled, then turned to face everyone.

"We're going to stop for today." I said. I heard everyone sigh in relief, then plop down right where they were. I chuckled, then went over to Marcie. Chris and I helped get her settled in a comfortable position then would help her cut not hurt during the night.

"Thanks." Marcie said. I just smiled, glad that I helped. Then I apologized about earlier, and went to sleep.

Everyone else went to sleep, besides for Alista. She was sitting on a log, with her arms crossed on her lap. "What's wrong?" Jessica asked.
"Nothing, I'm fine."
"Are you sure? You don't seem like your self."
"How would you know what I'm like! You barely ever talk to me!"
"I know, and I'm sorry for that." Jessica said looking down at her hands.
"Don't be, I can take care of my self!" Alista said loudly, almost waking the others up.
"I know I got off on the wrong foot, But can't we start over?"
"No, whats done is done, You're just a mean brat, and I hate you!" That time it did wake the rest of them up.
"Hey, What's your guys problem?" Shouted Camile.
Jessica turned around and said "Nothing, go back to sleep." Turning back around she said, "Now, I going to the river to clean up, your welcome to come with me."
"No thanks, I'll stay here."
"Okay, fine, you get your rest. come Saber" Jessica said to Saber, and left.

Marcie:

Being as I didn't really sleep that much, I had heard their whole conversation--Jessica and Alista's, I mean. I didn't know Alista felt that way about Jessica, that Jess was a mean brat and all. I thought I was the only one who truly didn't like Jess all too much. What can I say, though? Jessica was ruining it for herself. Soon, half of these people wouldn't care to listen to her.
But it was nighttime, and going to the river alone to wash off...at night wasn't all that smart of Jessica, Marcie had to admit. This was the time of night when creatures came out, and Jessica would be dumb to walk through the jungle alone at night.
I half expected Seth to get up and follow her, but he didn't. He wasn't asleep yet, either, though, and his eyes followed Jessica as she disappeared into the shrub.
I whispered, "You like her a lot, don't you?"
Seth looked kind of surprised. "W-what? Who?"
"Jessica. Or the Queen Idiot. But I'm sure you'd rather me call her Jessica."
Seth shrugged, biting his lip. "Just go to sleep, Marcie."
Idiots! Telling me what to do!

Camile

All this drama around me. I felt like I was the only one who wasn't in love, wasn't angry at someone, or hadn't been in any real danger lately. Maybe that was why I was always trying to cheer everyone up- no experience, you know. I saw Jessica walking into the forest. Would she be alright? I wasn't going to follow her, of course, but I could use a walk myself....

I stood up and went into the jungle. I wasn't looking for Jessica... but if I found her along the way, well, that wasn't my problem.

"Just go to sleep, Marcie." I said.

"UGH!" Marcie groaned. "Why is everyone telling me what to do?!"

There was silence for a while, then I finally spoke.

"I'm sorry." I said. "I seem to be messing things up with you. We really got off on the wrong foot. I just..." I didn't know what to say, how to explain everything. I was confusing sometimes, even to myself.

"It's all right." Marcie said, calming down a little.

Camile got up to go for a walk, and I got worried. I knew that Jessica could handle herself, and she didn't like it when people doubted that. Plus, she had a tiger by her side. Camile was strong, but I didn't want her to get hurt. She was all alone, and I didn't know what was out there.

"I'm going to go make sure those two are okay." I said a few minutes after Camile left. "It's late, and they might get hurt."

"I'll come too." Marcie said. I smiled. "You may be strong, but you're really clumsy. You could fall and break your leg or something." I couldn't help but laugh, knowing it was true.

I walked deeper into the river. It was cold, but it felt good. "Come on boy!" Jessica called to her tiger. She was treading water when Saber jumped in. "Good boy!" She said, let her hair fall in the water.

I spotted Jessica and her tiger. Well, they both seemed fine. I went farther into the forest. Suddenly, I heard a growling behind me.

"Jess, if this is some kind of joke with your tiger..." I said, not turning around. Silence. Closing my eyes, I decided that seeing what I was up against was better than not knowing. I jumped around.

It was a bear unlike I had ever seen before. Huge, like a- a hybrid of some sort. Unreal. I pulled my flimsy knife out of my pocket. Oh, yeah, like THAT was going to help against this gargantuan thing.

I heard someone say something, I couldn't tell what though. I crawled like a ape up to shore. "Come on Saber, let's go and see who that was." I slowly jogged towards the noise. I saw Camile standing in-front of a bear with her little pocket knife drawn. She looked towards me, "Jessica, what do I do!?" She asked, a little on edge.
"Run, don't stop!" I said as I charged for the bear, "Go get Seth, I need his help!" I picked up a log, and drew my knife, Saber went in-head of me. He tor at the bears flesh with out giving the bear a chance.
What am I going to do! I hope Seth gets here soon, or else I'm screwed!

I ran as fast as I could. I tripped and twisted my ankle but I kept going. "SETH!" I screamed as loud as I could. I saw him and said, relieved and panting, "Jessica is in danger! There's a bear- she's to the east-"

Seth ran off.

"Help her," I whispered. "If anything happens, its MY FAULT.'

Before I left, I told Marcie to help Camile back to camp, then ran as fast as I could to where Jessica was. It started to rain hard, but I finally found her, and I also found the bear. It was huge, hard to miss!

"Jessica!" I called. She looked over at me, then focused on the bear again.

"Help!" she yelled. I ran towards the bear, pulling a knife from my pocket as I did. About 10 feet away from it, I stopped. I picked up a stick and threw it at it. The bear turned to look at me.

"RUN JESSICA!" I ordered. I knew she didn't want to leave. She always felt the need to help, but I wasn't going to risk her getting hurt. She wouldn't move.

"Hurry! I can handle this!" I shouted. Still, she was hesitant. I couldn't blame her. I wasn't sure myself if I could handle it, but I didn't care. Finally, she left. That was good for me. I needed to focus on the bear and not worry about anyone else getting hurt.

I slashed my knife in front of the bear, and of course it only got angrier. It swiped it's paw, scratching my face. I tried not to yell, not wanted the others to be worried. The bear advanced on me, and stood on two feet, roaring loudly. I wanted to run, but I knew I had to stay.

The rain began to pound harder on my head, and it nearly blinded me. I could barely see the bear in front of me, walking towards me, an angry look in it's face. I walked backwards and tripped on a log. I looked up, the bear about to tear me to shreds. I knew this was the end, but I couldn't give up either way. I held the knife out in front of me, just as the bear struck...

There was a yelp of pain, and I was so horror stuck that I couldn't tell if it was from me or the bear. I didn't know what was going on. It felt like I was alive, but I couldn't feel the rain. Something was on top of me, and I realized what had just happened. I pushed the bear off from on top of me and climbed out into the rain, glad that I wasn't dead. I ran to the camp, giving everybody a hug. I hated having death being dangled right in front of my eyes. It had felt so terrible, like there was no hope. But there was, and I was glad to be back at camp.

((Sorry it's so long. I like detailing epic moments. :D You don't really have to read it all. Basically, Seth beat the bear and returned to camp and everyone hugged!))
