I looked over at Marcie. Chris had just saved her from falling out of the tree. The way he looked at her made me...angry.I didn't know why, though.

I turned away again and continued thinking to myself. I didn't like Jessica that way...did I? I wasn't sure. I didn't really think of anyway, or that's what I told myself. My head began to hurt. I was confusing myself. I held my head in my hands. I didn't know what to do. Marcie hated me for some reason, and that really bugged me. I was just trying to get out of here, not that I had anywhere to go, but still. I hated this place. I mean, you couldn't really blame me. If someone was chasing you, trying to eat you, you'd want to get away from that place too.

Marcie:

I don't know how long we sat in those trees, but I was starting to get restless and fidgety by the time they came. The quicker they came, the quicker they left, right? I hoped so. I watched as the three men who had come searched the area, a large pointed spear in each of their tanned hands.
I closed my eyes and grimaced as they scanned the treetops.
Please. Please don't let them find us.
My brother...he needs me. Please, God? Please help us get out of here, safe. Please.
It was the first time I'd prayed since my father had killed himself.
I only hoped God would answer.

We were all still as the men scanned the area below. I looked over at Jessica, hoping she would be safe. Then I looked at Marcie. There were tears in her eyes, and she was struggling not to make a sound. I prayed they wouldn't spot us. None of us deserved to die here.

"Na!" One of them said, motioning for the other two to follow him. They walked away silently. We all still waited silently. We wanted to be certain they were gone and out of hearing range, then we climbed down.

"C'mon. Let's hurry and get out of here." Marcie said. She had wiped the tears away, so nobody knew she had cried. We all nodded in agreement, then started running.

Marcie Jones:

Crying wasn't my thing. Normally, that is. But being trapped in a jungle with a group of strangers (one of which annoyed you to wit's end) while being chased by cannibals was not, under any circumstances, normal.
So I cried. Cried for my brother, and admittedly, I cried for myself. Life wasn't fair, but that's what made it life, I guess. Whatever, I wasn't about to have an epiphany or anything over life.
Sighing, I climbed down from the tree after watching the cannibals leave.
"C'mon. Let's hurry and get out of here," I sighed heavily once more, and took off through the thick brush, ignoring the tiny pain I still felt from my cut.
The pain of life was harder.
Stupid jungle.

I stayed in the back of the group, making sure that the cannibals weren't following us. We ran as fast as we could through the brush, hoping we were close to the getting out of here.

It seemed like we had been running for hours, but none of us stopped, despite the pain. We were all focused on getting out of here, and we couldn't stop unless we wanted to be eaten.

All of a sudden, there was light. We all stopped, completely stunned. It took us all a second to realize it. We were out!!! I looked up at the sky. I hadn't seen it for weeks! Months maybe! We all started cheering at the same time. It was finally over! I looked back, trees and bushes behind me. All I could see was green. I looked forward again, and there was no more jungle!

Then I woke up...
I was on the jungle floor, everyone else was still asleep.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I didn't really know what to post.

Jessica

I jolted awake. "Saber." I whispered to myself. I had totally forgotten about him. He's probably following our sent, but I took him to stay! I got to go and find him
I looked around. I saw Seth sitting on a log, with his head in his hands. I got up and walked over and sat besides him.
"What's the matter?" I asked him softly.
"Nothing." He replied.
"Are you sure?" I asked once more.
"I'll tell you about it later, why are you up?"
"Well, I forgot about Saber. He won't leave his spot unless he's dieing of hunger, or is in danger. You guys might think that he's not that great, but he is. There's no way any of us could of saw the cannibals. They shot him with a dart, that would of happened to you. And, I am sorry that I sounded mad the night before the cannibals, that's just what I sound like when I'm tired. I didn't want to sound mean." I ran out of words to say. I wanted to show everybody who I really am. "Please understand...Anyway, I better go so I'm back before everyone else is awake."
"Do you want me to go with you?" He offered.
"No, you have to stay and watch over everyone else. I'll be back before you know it."

I was back just when everyone else was waking up. "Good morning!" I called brightly.
Charlie Bucket: You can eat the grass?
Willy Wonka: Of course you can! Everything in this room is eatable, even *I'm* eatable! But that is called "cannibalism," my dear children, and is in fact frowned upon in most societies.

I stepped out from behind a tree having not slept at all and praying that no one had noticed that I was gone. I grinned easily at Jessica. "Mornin'." I replied cheerfully. "Where have you been?" Seth asked. I froze for an instant then grinned again. I tossed a mango to him which he caught. "Figured everyone would like some breakfest." I said.
"You are without a doubt, the worst pirate I've ever heard of."

"But you have heard of me."

"Figured everyone would like some breakfast." Rose said, throwing a mango at Seth.
"Thank you, Rose. But, tell someone your going out for a walk before hand. The cannibals are still probably looking for us.
Now, I want Chis and Alista to go and get some water.Marcie, you can rest. Cami and Rose, you can go and look for, Destroyer plant, fruit, grubs, anything edible. I'm going hunting, if you please stay to the south, and I'll go north. Seth, you can do what ever you want, I don't think I need to tell you what to do. I'll keep Saber here with you."
"Hey, don't baby me! Just because I'm hurt doesn't mean I can't work!" Marice demanded.
"I know. But, your always worn out by the time we set up camp." I said quietly.
"What about your face!?"
"My face is fine! It's just a scratch."
"It's not just a scratch, your face is swollen! You probable can't even see out of that eye!"
"Marcie's right, It looks really bad. You take a break, and I'll go hunting." Seth put in.
"I'm fine!" I said annoyed.
"Your just as bad as Marcie!" Seth said madly.
"Gee, thanks!" Marcie said.
"You and Marcie have a lot in common! You stay here and talk with Marice, good bye!" Seth left in a hurry.

I sat down and crossed my arms. "So.... What do you do for fun?" I asked.
"I listen to music. What kind do you listen to?" She wasn't enjoying herself.
"I don't." I said dryly. Oh, joy, this is going to be fun I thought sarcastically.

I whistled and Fang ran to my side. "Find fruit." I ordered him. He barked and then set off immediately. I grinned at Cami and gestured grandly. "After you." I said politely. She looked at me as if I had ten heads. I smiled at her. "I know I'm a wierdo but I also happen to be a great friend and I would like to be yours." I said smiling gently at her.

I walked off in a hurry, not wanting to give either of them a chance to argue. The only reason I had said that was because I wanted them to deal out some of their problems with each other. I knew that Marcie and I had some problems, but I figured they needed to talk more. I was surprised Jessica hadn't told me to stay. I still had a scar from where that blasted bear had scratched me. I was glad, though.

I wandered around the jungle, looking for something to do. There really was nothing to do, so I went back to camp. I hid behind a tree, though, so I could listen to what Marcie and Jessica were talking about. I didn't want to interrupt if they were actually getting along.

"I listen to music. What kind do you listen to?" Marcie asked her.

"I don't." Jessica replied dryly. This wasn't starting out too well. "What about you?"

"Any kind, really," Marcie said, "but I think I like soft songs best." Jessica nodded. "What do you do for fun?"

Jessica thought for a second before replying. "I...hmm...well, I..." I held in a laugh. Did Jessica ever really have fun???

Marcie looked at her, a smug grin on her face. I figured she had been thinking the same thing as me. It was silent for a while as Jessica thought.

"I...hmm...well, I..." What's wrong with me? I do lots of fun things! I did. It all changed, I felt different before they found me. "Well, I use to sit up in my hammock, listening and watch birds, that's my music. I have a ton of books at my airplane to read, I bet I read them all over at least 20 times. I play with Saber, with all my other animals I left behind. I even have I CD player that runs on batters, that I listen to sometimes. There's lots of things you can do in the jungle, you just have to know where to look."
"Yeah, right, like this place could be any fun!" Marcie said.
"You might not think that right now, but after living here eight years, you find lots of things too do."
"I took you eight years to find something to do?"
"No, no. it took about two years to live in comfort, and three years to find out that I'm never going to leave this place. So when you all are out of the jungle, I will still be on the other side, waving goodbye.

Marcie Jones:

I rolled my eyes. Jessica was like some inhuman freak. She had "fun" in a jungle--the same jungle where I had nearly met my death just days ago. She didn't listen to music, unless you counted birds. And I definitely didn't count birds. Snorting, I listened as she said she would never leave the jungle.

Yep, that makes it certain. She's an idiot.

I voiced my thoughts.

"You're an idiot," I smirked, and sighed, "What, do you fancy having a cannibal eat you? Or are you hoping you'll get Seth to stay with you?"

I felt my face heating up. "Seth, Seth, Seth! We all know you absolutely adore him. But you're no good for him, you aren't. Not. At. All."

I gave her a hard, steely gaze, and waited for what she would say.

"Seth, Seth, Seth! We all know you absolutely adore him. But you're no good for him, you aren't. Not. At. All." Marcie barked. There was silence, and I decided it would be best to stop this. They weren't really getting along at all, as I had hoped.

I walked into view just as Jessica was about to speak. It was silent for a moment, but then I finally spoke.

"So, you guys have a good talk?" I asked, trying to act like I hadn't heard anything. There was sarcasm in my voice, and I normally was sarcastic, so it would seem normal. They didn't reply. They just glared at each other.

"I'll take that as a no." I said quietly.

"Why are you back here so early. I thought you were going hunting." Jessica said. I shrugged.

"I couldn't find anything, so I came back here. I'll go back out except I'll look over there." I pointed to the side opposite of the one that I first started looking.

I started walking out in that direction, but tried to stay within hearing range. Eventually, I found a rabbit. No matter how cute it was, I killed it, and returned to the camp. A fire had already been started, so I handed Jessica the rabbit. She knew how to cook it, I didn't.

I took the rabbit from Seth, and set it on the ground. I cut the skin at the head and peeled it off, so as to save the skin. Then cut off the head, and tossed it to Saber. Marcie had a look of hatred and of discussed. Well, I don't care what she thinks!
The rabbit was a decent size, fresh young meat. "Great catch Seth. But, why aren't you butchering it?" I said wiping the blood on my hands on my shorts. "Or don't you know how?"
"Oh, um, I just thought you like doing that kind of stuff." he said, turning red in the face.
"Yeah, she loves doing that kind of stuff!" Marcie said.
"Marice, your right. I do! All the warm blood, and guts on my hands. Ah, it just feels wonderful! Do you want to try?" I asked.
"No thanks." she replied, trying to keep cool.
"Are you sure?" Getting up and walking over to her,"You'll love it!" I grabbed her hand before she could move away.
"I said, No thanks! Ew, now look what you did! you got blood all over my hands!"
"So, your sure you don't want to help?"
"Yes! You idiot!"
"Then. Shut. Up. And let me work!" I yelled.

After I was done with the rabbit, I put it over the fire. It was done by the time the rest got back.
Everybody was starving, and they all ate the rabbit. Well, almost everybody. Marcie didn't, probably because she had seen what the rabbit had looked like before. Or, because of her anorexic thing.

I looked at Marcie as I ate.

"Are you sure you don't want to eat this?" I asked her. "It's pretty good. Plus, you haven't really eaten anything this whole time. Aren't you hungry?"

She looked at the cooked rabbit in my hands with disgust. "I'm sure." she said. "I'm not really hungry anyway." I heard a small chuckle from Jessica, and Marcie glared at her.

"Okay, but if you want to try some, just ask." I said. I wanted her to know that she had the opportunity. That way, if she really did want to try it because she was just so starving she might die, it wouldn't feel awkward to ask. I understood that sometimes talking could be awkward.

After breakfast, we all just sat around, doing nothing in particular. There wasn't really anything to do. Too bad we were nowhere near Jessica's plane. She had mentioned a lot of things there that she would do when she got bored. I was so bored, I would read, and I always hated reading.
