Else

"Undercover!" Eden suddenly exclaimed. I had been sitting with her, trying to get her to see the future.

"They are coming undercover, when?" I asked her.

"Um, soon." I stood up and ran to find Charlie.

"Charlie, I need you to do me a huge favor. I need you to put me in the center of the Australian government building."

"Why?"

"Please trust me. And don't tell Nick, he will have a fit."

"I will send you. But I am telling Nick anyway."

"Its your life." I warned him. I already had put on my best outfit. I had to beg with them for protection, plead for there help. The world went white around me. Then I was in the building. I was in a room, where people were arguing over who-knows-what. The sight of a random girl appearing seemed to startle them. One just stood up and pointed, mouth open. I let him have a minute to calm himself.

"W-who a-a-are y-y-you?" he said.

I let out a sigh. Nick was going to kill me. "I am a misfit, part of a traveling circus. But we are different, and we all have powers. The American government wants to capture all of us and kill us. I came to ask for your protection."

"No."

"Why not?" I asked. Then a woman stood up. She was aged, but no older than fifty, with grey blond hair and blue eyes. They were the exact same color as mine.

"Else?" The woman asked. I realized with a sudden shock, this was my mother.

"Mom?" I asked. She came over and hugged me, tears in her eyes.

"I thought you were dead." She said.

"I thought about coming back, but I lost my memory and didn't know where to come back too. I had no idea we lived in Australia! When did you become a governor?"

"A few years after you left I went to law school, and then I married Mr. Kellina and he helped me become a governor. You don't look a day older than when you left." She said, gesturing to a man beside her.

"Ah, so this is the lovely Else I have heard about so much from your mother?" He stood and we shook hands.

"You know her?" Another governor asked. My mother nodded.

"So," the chief said, "you march in here an expect us to protect you, possibly killing my best men and..."

I cut him off, "When I am too old for the circus I would gladly..." My thoughts trailed off.

You don't look a day older than when you left. My mom's words rang in my ears. We were not aging! Or aging so slowly none of us noticed. I had been gone years, and I had barely changed.

"When I am no longer in the circus I would gladly be a part of your military. I can change my density to go through any object I choose." I quickly demonstrated.

He stared shocked, then said, "Where should I tell my men to go." I looked to my mom, and my new dad, and I knew things would be okay.

I gave him the address, thanked him, and then I asked quickly, "Would you mind giving me a ride home?" The chief made a quick call, and then I was escorted to a limo that would take me back to the circus.

H. Smith

A long line of black vehicles drove to a secret headquarters somewhere in the US. Out of the first car, I stepped out.

I strode quickly to the doors and traveled to the innermost chamber. There, my master waited.

"Report," was all he said. His voice was stern.

"They eluded us," I admitted. "But not to worry. I have dispatched a undercover squad to Australia, to get them once and for all."

"Excuses," muttered The Leader. "We must obtain those Misfits, Mr. Smith. It's for the good of our country."

"Yes, sir." I replied quickly. "I will not fail again."

"You better not."

Else

As the limo pulled up to the camp, all the camp began to panic. They assumed it was the Americans. As I stepped out, I saw the sun had already begun to set.

Eve shouted, "It's just Else!" The camp as a whole seemed to sigh a breath of relief.

Eden came up to me, "Glad to see your safe."

"As am I." Charlie said, his face grim.

"What's wrong Charlie?" I asked.

"You were right about not telling Nick. He is furious at me now, to put it lightly. You better go talk to him. He is in his tent."

I ran over to the tent, where Nick was. I opened the flap. Before I even had it open, Nick said, "Go away Charlie."

"It's not Charlie." I said softly, he didn't respond. "Please don't be mad Nick I did something to help us, and it worked. we now have protection from the Australian..."

He cut me off. "And what if you hadn't, what if you had made them want us as much as the Americans do. We would be dead for sure Else. They could have killed you, or worse."

"I found my mother."

"Oh, so life is some sort of fairy tale for you now? You saved the day, got us protection and found your mom all in one day! You keep trying to do things that could get you killed and every second your gone I picture one more bad thing that could happen to you. You don't get it Else, there is so much you don't know."

"Enlighten me then!" I shouted.

"You.. and Juliette, and what if you had died?"

"You're getting rhetorical you know."

"Why don't you just go back to the humans where you belong." His words hit me worse than if he'd slapped me. I almost wish he had. I took a step back. His eyes met mine.

"Else, I am sorry."

By now tears were streaming down my face. "You really want me to leave?"

"Of course not Else, I am sorry. The words just slipped out. I was angry at you, and Charlie. And Juliette is going to drive me insane."

"So I can stay?"

"I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Wait, what's this about Juliette?" His face colored.

"It's a long story, I will explain tomorrow."

"I am going to hold you to that."

As I went to walk out the door I realized Eve was standing there.

"How much did you see?" I asked.

"Everything after 'You're getting rhetorical you know'." She said. She shot me an annoyed look and as I walked out whispered, "Just tell him already."

Nick, teleporter,

I won't deny it. Else is getting beyond reckless. And everyone is siding with her. I didn't mean to make that "go back to the humans" comment; it just slipped out. God, my life is crazy. I stalk out of my tent, confused, as is usual these days. I sit down on a boulder at the edge of camp, staring off into space. Before long, someone comes and sits down beside me. It's Aron.

"Nick..." he begins.

"Don't say you're sorry, Aron. You've got nothing to be sorry for," I say gruffly.

"I wasn't going to say that, Nick. You just need to calm down. You can't control everything that's happening. And trying to won't help."

"I guess I know that, but...you guys are my family. I can't just do nothing while those creeps from the government do who knows what to you."

"Us, you mean,"

"Yes. And they've probably got more kids. More people like us. More people who never found the Circus,"

Aron puts a hand on my shoulder. I don't do anything, and he eventually takes it away. We sit in silence, watching the skies. Finally, I speak up.

"They're beautiful, aren't they? The stars."

"Yeah. I've never seen them like this before. We've always been to close to the cities."

I crack a smile, "It's nice to know that there's something that they can't control, isn't it?"

Else

I watched Nick and Aron.
He turned and said to Aron, "She can be so reckless, sometimes. If she got hurt... I don't even know."

I wasn't trying to be reckless. I was just trying to help.

"She is behind us." Aron said.

I hid behind the tent, but Nick called out, "Else, come out from behind there."

I came out. Aron inconspicuously left us.

"I am not trying to be reckless Nick. I just want to help."

"I know that Else, but..."

"I promise I won't do it again. No parading off to go try and save us." I thought for a minute, then tacked on, "Without your permission."

He smiled and shook his head. "Else, I promise never to make you do anything dangerous."

"Shit, then my life won't be any fun."

"You have still got me, and the rest of the circus..." he said.

"Yeah, I've got you Nick. I think my life might be okay. I can try and live without constantly putting myself in a life-threatening position. Because I really do that totally jut for fun." I laughed at my sarcastic joke, and so did he.

Then we both stopped and looked at the stars. At some point his hand touched mine.

And he didn't move it.

Hopefully I was supportive enough I thought. Nick's move seemed to lighten a bit after I had finished talking to him. The camp was beginning to take shape as the others unloaded their personal belongings.

I saw Maeve and Sam practicing something and decided I would go and take a look. I figured Nick would have no problem forgiving Else in the end. I think there is something between them, but I am not one to comment on relationships so I left them to talk.

"Hey" Sam called as I walked over.

"What are you guys up to? I can help if you need it?"

Maeve turned and looked to where my voice had come from. Her expression was kind of exasperated. With my passed experience this meant she wanted me to leave her alone probably because she wanted to be alone with Sam.

"Oh, I just remembered I have to go unpack my things." I said already walking away.

"Thats too bad." Sam yelled back.

I guess I am left to talking to myself unless I can find someone who isn't busy I thought.

Else

Nick must have carried me back to my room, because I had no memories of moving or walking into my room. Or maybe he just teleported me. It didn't matter. Today was the day before our first Australian circus. I walked out of my tent.

"What are you doing?" I said, walking up to Charlie just as Maeve disappeared into thin air.

"Oh, she is going to go make and hand out fliers for our circus. This isn't a bad place to set up. I am glad you picked this spot." I nodded my thanks as a black limo came up to our circus. Everyone froze but me. I knew it was some of the protectors that had been sent.

"Don't worry people, they are here to protect us. To make sure no member of the American government tries to ruin our show." Everyone calmed down. A few people in casual cloths stepped out of the limo.

One came up to me, "Are you the one called Else?"

"I am." He nodded, Why are you in such casual cloths?"

"Until you need us we will simply be people attending your circus. Incognito, as you would say in America."

I nodded, "And your boss has explained our...powers."

"He has, I find it amusing, disturbing and amazing all at the same time. I am curious though. Do you mind if we walk around and watch you practice your acts?"

"Not at all." I said. Nick came up behind me.

"Who are they?" He asked.

"Some of Australia's best protector's. My mother, as I told you last night, is the governor and managed to send us in a little help. no American government here." Nick smiled. I had explained everything about my past to him last night. Or at least everything I knew. The guards started walking around the circus.

"Hey, Nick. Why don't we preform together?" I asked.

Nick, teleporter,

"Yeah, I'd like that," I grin.

"Good!" Else says, grabbing my hand and pulling me along after her, "I was hoping you'd say that!"

"I bet you were," comes a snide voice. I jump, and whirl around.

"Kili!"

"Yep!" she sneers. Then she takes off, screaming.

"Nick loves Else! Else loves Nick! They LOOOOOVE each other!"

"Yep," I mutter, "Just a day in the life of a teen freak,"

"Don't pay attention to her, Nick," says Else soothingly.

Maeve, physical transformation

Handing out fliers was quite aggravating, especially being that tiny, underfed body of a child. She had left the circus and found a young child in the street. Maeve gave the poor child some change, and had made sure the physical connection was a good one. Once she had gotten far enough out of the way, she changed into the kid and started handing out the fliers. Some people were rude, and some people actually took the fliers. Most of them were younger kids, in their teen years.

Maeve couldn't help but feel paranoid. It was almost like she was being followed... She left the town and went back to the circus, still in the form of the young child. She dodged as many people as possible and found Nick, their leader.

"Psst! Nick!"

Nick turned and saw her in the child's appearance, "Hey there kid, this isn't a place for-"

"Nick, shut up! It's Maeve. I didn't change back to normal because I think someone was following me!" Nick shot straight up and looked around.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"No! That's why I came to you! I think some one's following me, but I'm not sure." She looked around nervously, but didn't see anyone out of place.

Eden psychic telekinetic

Eve had unpaked the few things we had. I took my violin and made by way to the outskirts of the camp. Finding a place of solitude I began to play. The feel of the bow across the delicate strings was comforting. The songbwas one of my own, the first song I had ever played, and it was this exact song I was playing when I first had the vision that led Eve and I to the circus.

The music was rich and enchanting as I played the melencholoc tune. Closing my eyes, letting the music take over. The blackness from the back of my eyelids had disipated into afoggy whitness. I saw a small girl standing before me with an almost emaciated look. Her blue eyes were sharp in her sunken sockets.

"Hello Eden." she started. I was not surprised to see her, for I could sense that she too was like me.

"I need to tell you that you must be careful of the outsiders you have let into the circus. The government is smart and will not be fooled easily. You must also be cautious of the people inside the circus. Bad things are afoot and you must let the information come to you. No more walls, embrace your ability Eden. Be safe." she concluded and then she was gone, replaced by the blackness of my eyelids.

I had noticed I had never stopped playing, so now I did. Taking a deep breath I started playing a different song. Playing helped calm my nerves and I loved it.

Aron, Tracker ~

The past day had come and passed uneventful and I needed something to do. Wandering around the camp was getting very boring, no one needed help setting up or critique on their acts. I was walking by Sam's tent when Maeve walked out looking kind of happy I guess. Without a word she walked off toward the edge of camp facing the nearby town. Sam walked out about thirty seconds after Maeve had.

Unlike her he instantly acknowledged me. "Hey, Aron do you have a minute?" Hopefully he has something for me to do I thought.

"Yea, I was kind of just wandering around camp looking for something to do." I replied.

"Well what I was wondering is if you could sort of stalk Maeve and make sure she makes it back ok? If she is taking a long time about it then make her notice that you are following you so that she comes back."

"Sure I guess I could do that for you." I already started walking away.

"Thanks" he called.

It was easy to track her like anyone, but she took forever in town, so eventually I sort of made my self known so that she would head back to camp. It seemed to work pretty well and she did hand out a lot of flyers for our show so I didn't mind bringing her home before sunset.

******

Rushed their at the end because my family was walking out the door for church.

Else

If it wouldn't have upset Nick in the long run I would have killed Kili right there. I was about to, but Nick held fast to my hand, not allowing me to kill her.

"Don't worry Ncik, I will let you do the finishing blow." i said through clentched teeth.

"To bad I won't let you kill her," he said, "violence won't solve anything." I untensed my musles, realizing he was right.

"That's better." He said. I almost asked him if what Kili said was true, that he loved me. But I am not sure what would happen if he denied it. Sam called Nick, and he ran off with a quick wave. I waved back.

I walked towards the music I heard someone playing on a violin. Much to my surprise, it was Eden.

"Ready for the show tonight?" I asked. She put down her violin.

"As ready as I will ever be."

"Hey, I play guitar, do you mind if I join you?"

"Not at all."

I ran and got my guitar out of my case. I went back to where Eden was sitting.

"What songs do you know?" She asked.

"Pachelbel's canon, Au Clarie De la Lune, Midnight in Madrid..."

"I know midnight in Madrid. Lets try that." I must admit it sounded awesome. My guitar added a Spanish flair, while Eden's violin made it more classical. We played for almost eight minutes, it was that long. When we were done we both had the biggest smile on our faces.

"That sounded so Spanish, the way you played the guitar."

"Yeah, well it is a Spanish song."

Aron came out from behind a tent and clapped. "Brava." He said. I got up and did a mock bow. Eden quietly left the fireside.

"Wow, Australia. I never thought I would preform here." Aron said.

"It is cool, isn't it?"

"I hear that Juliette is going to train a kangaroo. That will be cool to see." I said, as Aron laughed.

"Else, listen to this joke I heard one kid say. Last winter a kangaroo caught such a fierce cold that come summer her family began using her pouch to hold Popsicles. And her baby joeys became known as the neighborhood chilled ren." We both laughed. It was a lame joke, but it was funny.

And I thought to myself, this circus might be the best thing that ever happened to me.

yeah but theirs always space for one more.

Charlie: Empath

I liked it here at the circus it was peaceful, sort of, and the people weren't all assholes. I heard some music playing in the distance and thought about going to follow it when my head started searing, luckily I was in my area and maneged to fall on my bed before the vision came. It wasn't of the future but the past, of course my old friend who the power had belonged too had always said that the past had more to do with the future than we thought.
I didn't have as many visions as my friend had had mostly because I tried to forget about the power and all the memories associated with it. Some times visions did come through.

A younger me was walking around a campfire ,it was only a few months ago, David my old friend came out of our tattered tent.

"were not going to the circus" David said.

" What why not" I asked puzzled.

"I say were, I mean you are not going to the circus" David said.

"why not?" I asked louder and David took a step back.

"because I've seen what you will become if I let you consume power even once." David said The Younger me was oblivious to David taking out his pistol and cocking it.

"what do I become" I say stepping towards David, He has the ability to show others his visions.

"it would only scare you" David said and pulled the pistol out. I backed off I had some powers but he already had the gun pointed at me.

"what are you doing David" I ask knowing exactly what he's doing.

"I'm sorry friend but it's you or us, I have to prioritise" Davis gun is shaking. This isn't a sign he's not going to do it, it's a sign he's definitely going to do it, he just doesn't want to. His finger twitched on the trigger and I Raised my hands creating a shield of fire, I sit behind it each bullet he fire fizzling to nothing, what they imply is important. The sound of each gunshot leaves little cracks in the my heart, he was my friend, my brother, I trusted him and in a sudden wave of rage I had to shut my eyes to stop myself from being blinded by the light that erupted from my body. After a few dazed seconds I opened my eyes the forest around me for ten ten meters was fizzled and burnt to a crisp, the trees at the edge were loosely burning.

"uhhh" came Davids voice I followed it and found him , what was left, The whole of his front was burnt and blood was seeping from every were, the gun had melted in his hand.

"I'm so sorry" I tried to say but as I touched him he convulsed screaming now an eerie gold glow of power floated from his body into mine. When the last drop of power left him the light faded from his burnt eyes.

"what have you done?" Came the sweet innocent voice of Davids sister and are traveling partner, she was only ten.

"Sarah calm down don't do anything rash" I tried to tell her but she let out a scream. I saw the sound waves traveling towards me in all the power. As they hit me I rolled back until I hit a trees and was pinned up against it. I could feel my body being ripped apart by her power. I had her power too in only I could talk, I could defend myself. The surge I had felt before came again I wanted it to stop but I couldn't.

"no" I bellowed the sound waves crashed through hers before hitting her, I closed by eyes not wanting to see what happened next, Behind were Sarah had been standing was a blood splatter in her shape on the tree.

"what have I done" I shouted, I tried to fly away but I couldn't, I then tried to summon fire, I couldn't or use my sonic scream. It seemed using them and boosting them to so powerful had made me lose them, good riddance. The visions were still their though, I'd stolen them. Now that I'd had a taste my body wanted more even if I didn't.

You don't need to follow me! You don't need to follow anybody! You got to think for yourselves!
