The Saviors

This is my first storybook...Tell me how you like it.

Okay, so here's the plot line:

Humanity has almost destroyed the planet, through war and pollution. Some animals and plants have mutated into dangerous species that seem to have one purpose: devouring humans. They roam outside the walls of compounds that the last of our race now reside inside.
The governments of the world have begun to construct the "Space Arcs" (or just Arcs) to take certain people to a newly terriformed Mars. It is not intended to be a permanent move, for the top geneticists of the world have created an ingenious way to clean up the planet.
Getting desperate, scientists created a type of superhuman, known as Saviors. These humans have been engineered to have certain powers that are designed to remake the planet. Some can negate pollutive chemicals. Some can reverse the terrible mutations of the flora and fauna.
Humans are leaving. The Saviors are left to their task, with only limited resources and basic radios to communicate with Earth officials. The world will die if they do not succeed.

Here are all of the powers. There are four:

1) You can eliminate noxious pollutants, making them into oxygen or nitrogen. Basically, as you breath, you are cleaning the air. You do not need a gas mask.

2) You can reverse the mutations of plants and animals. When you are within a ten-foot radius of any mutations, they begin to reverse back to their normal selves. You need a gas mask to breathe in the atmosphere.

3) You can purify water. This power is somewhat like the first in that you eliminate pollution. However, you need to touch the water to clean it. You require a gas mask to breath.

4) You have super strength. You are not for remaking the planet; you are designed to protect the other Saviors from outside forces. You can breathe for limited times without a mask.

So, if the saviors are the protagonists, who are the antagonists? The animals? I'm confused.

I'll post my character anyway.

Name - Kitrina Rydale

Gender - Female

Age - 13

Description - Fair heart shaped face, smiling pinkish lips, Bright and wide brown eyes, small for her age, slender, straight brown hair reaching her waist. Mostly wears dresses or frocks.

Personality - Always cheerful and happy, and also kind and compassionate. Although she hates responsibility, she feels scared and weak when she's alone. And she's a highly emotional character, making her vulnerable to verbal abuse.

Power - Transforming pollutant air particles to oxygen.

Strength - Can react oxygen with nitrogen into a cataclysmic energy ball against deadly foes.

Weakness - Usually ends up throwing up or bleeding from the mouth after the cataclysm.

Short Bio - Although she was genetically mutated the same way the others were made, her transformation did not go so well. It had made her weak. Weak everything ranging from verbal abuse to full scale attacks from all sides. Her parents have left her, more than happy to leave behind the 'not-so-hoped-for' daughter. Although her mutation had done made her pretty and look smaller than she should be, it had done something else. It had made her forget she ever had parents.

Weapon - Surrounding air particles.

Other - Up for love. She is quite intimidated to kill or even hurt other people, who she considers as her allies, (even her sworn enemies that is). Although, if they become really mean to her, she would try to hurt them.

The antagonists will be, as you said, the animals/plants, and possibly some corrupt Earth officials who are trying not to return to the planet.

Here's my character:

Name: Ithycus Burns (Or just Burns)

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Description: Ithycus is tall and pale, with long black hair. He usually wears loose black clothing that's easy to move in. He's got a kind of pointy face, but there's always a smile there, or laughter. He is blind.

Personality: He's easy going, loves his friends, and is also fiercely protective. He is good at fighting, but does not like to harm anything, even enemies, and he can wield his power efficiently. He wholeheartedly enjoys his task of cleaning up Earth, and he never gets tired of it. He doesn't really have any love of the scientists who created him: it was painful, like torture. He knows what has to be done, though, and does it.

Power: Ithycus can reverse the mutations of plants and animals.

Short Bio: His parents gave his embryo to the scientists for the project, and, after he grew up and went through the painful experiment process (blinding him), he embraced his task. He volunteered to be left behind, in what was once South America.

Weaknesses/Strengths: He only ever reluctantly fights. It's very hard to urge him to do so. Most of the time, when he's fighting, it's to protect his friends. He has found that, much of the time, when he reverses the mutations on animals, they'll follow him around, and he can train them. Now he has his own mini force of dogs, cats, and squirrels.

Weapon: His power, a small handgun.

Other: Up for love.

Name: Mire Kadamitas

Gender: Male

Age: (13-25) 17

Description: Mire has strawberry blonde hair, with curls at the base. He has dark, mahogany eyes with stare straight into the soul and he is about average height. He has a rather prominent scar tracing vertically down his right cheek.

Personality: Mire is a horribly negative person with a pessimistic view on life. He has a very dark sense of humour, a deep and wide sense of honour and is rather sadistic. He seems bitter and hateful with his life.

Power: Slightly Flawed number four. He isn't exactly strong, but he has amazing reflexes, speed and agility. He can easily outrun a fleeing gazelle and has the eyes of a eagle.

Weakness: During his mutation to make the world a better place, a constant comfort during this was his sister, who never let him hand go. One day before civilisation left after the end of his mutation they had been playing in the yard when the mutated animals attacked. She was killed. He has a horrible weakness for any girl who has dark hair – as this reminds him of his sister.

Strengths: Barely has a conscience.

Short Bio: His family supported his decision to volunteer to do the monitoring of the planet. Back before his sister died he was a bright hopeful person who smiled at small things such as the sun rising, a warm hug and watching a flower bloom. After his sister died however, he became a bleak bitter person with no hope.

Weapon: (not obligatory) Acupuncture Needles – he throws them towards specials points in the body which renders that part unusable.(Which when combined with his power are almost like a quick and painless knock-out.)

I think you need an overall super-villain, because plants and animals seem trivial opponents, especially considering Ithycus Burns' power. But, it sounds interesting, so I'll give it a shot!

Name: Calli Poole (or Cal or Poole as nicknames)

Gender: Female

Age: 14

Description: She's pretty average overall. She has icy blue eyes and elbow length, straight brown hair. She usually wears baggy sweatshirts and jeans. Her gas-mask looks more like a silver surgeon's mask, only fits the contours of her nose and mouth perfectly.

Personality: she's always up for a challenge and an argument. Calli is spunky and secretly enjoys annoying the people she considers her friends. She also loves to play with words, which can further confuse her comrades.

Power: She can purify water with a single touch.

Weakness: Calli enjoys fighting, but killing is another thing. Blood doesn't scare her, but corpses do. She rarely finds herself able to sleep, which makes her weaker than she should be. She doesn't always think things through, and sometimes fears loosing her friends because of it.

Strengths: She can manipulate water to do just about anything, and can also make the water freeze, heat or boil. She's great at fighting, but her words tend to be just as powerful. But if any of her friends are in danger, she'll risk her life to save them.

Short Bio: Her parents abandoned her when she was really young, and some of the scientists found her. She went through many painful experiments which made her tight-lipped and aggressive. She spent the first part of her life surrounded by men in lab-coats or locked up in a white room, so she treasures the friends she has, even if she doesn't always act like it. No one has ever seen her cry.

Weapon: Water, as well as a small dagger in her left boot.

Other: Not exctly into lovey-dovey stuff, but she wants someone she can trust enough to tell things to.

Name - Zire Arian

Gender - Male

Age - 16

Description - He has bright green eyes and short untidy black hair. He's average in height and usually wears long trousers and khaki shirts or long sleeves t-shirts. His left eye has been removed and is covered by a eye patch.

Personality - He is a highly unemotional person in the outside but tends to open up to those he befriends. He usually cracks humorless jokes and sarcastic comments to annoy other when he's bored.

Power - Can we choose one that's already taken? if so then its elimination of noxious pollutants in air. If not then I'll change my profile.

Strength/Weakness - Hates to fight against other but once in a fight its hard for him to withdraw, even if he's close to death. Has the ability to poison anyone close to him by controlling the purification of the air in the way he wants.

Short Bio - Was forced into participating in painful and horrible experiments after he was found abandoned in the street at the age of three. He was forced into individual imprisonment and trained to do maximum damage when fighting with or without weapons. He last cried when he was being operated because his first and only friend was forced to stab at his eye.

Weapon - Air, all around him, anywhere.

Other - Up for love or what one would call a very close friendship.

Okay...All of your profiles are great, and since everyone's asking for an actual villain, here it is:

Unbeknownst to the scientists, a few species of canines have mutated beyond control, growing monstrously huge and vicious. They breed quickly, but cannot be changed by the 2nd power. They rampage across the planet, trying to kill any Savior in their path.

Maybe there could be subplot in which it is discovered that some corrupt scientists don't want humans to return to Earth, and so have released these monsters. I dunno.

Also, if anyone thinks of a better monster animal (instead of canines; I couldn't think of anything else), PM me.

Interesting plotline...

Name: Daniel Keiron

Gender: Male

Age: 14

Description: Brown hair, wears a makeshift gas mask crafted out of an old astronaut helmet, as he was the last to receive one and the pile had been depleted. Average height.

Personality: While Daniel tries to be positive and uplifting, he often finds himself swinging into monotone moods. He attempts to be friendly to everyone he meets.

Power: #2, though he has always desired #1.

Weakness/Strengths: Has no problem with mutated animals, but has an intense fear of transformed plants, despite his repairing power. He is often to frightened to hang around a plant long enough to fix it. Can create small, almost always uneffective, quakes in the earth.

Short Bio: Daniel was a strong protester against the decisions the governments made toward destroying the planet. He was taken by the scientists, and, in a cruel joke, forced to clean the world himself, it being what he always wanted.

Do all of the characters know each other at the beginning.?

I was kind of figuring that they were left in small groups all over the place. We could all be from the same group, or from different ones. Doesn't matter.

Name: Korri Tecumseh
Gender: Male
Age: 25

Description: Built like a pro-football player, he's tall, dark skinned, and bald with brown eyes.

Personality: A teddy bear at heart, he's vicious in a fight and will protect the people he cares for with single-minded ferocity

Power: super strength (a defender)

Weakness: He has a problem knee-cap that, though rarely, pops out of place and takes some work to put back and recupe from.

Strength: When he becomes angery (which is hard) he goes into what the doctors referred to as "Rage Mode". His strength increases two-fold, and he doesn't feel pain or fatigue until he comes out of it.

Short Bio: When the world went down the toilet, Korri felt a strong urge to help save it. It was most likely his instinct to protect his loved ones that drove him to volunteer to become a "Savior" at age twelve. The doctors gave him a suitable job, too. He was to be a defender for his team.

Weapon: Usually works with his bare hands and strength, but occasionally he'll use a bludgeon of some sort.
