Ben, Telepathy, Reno

In the darkness, Ben's senses were far more attuned than usual. This was, like every kidnapping, a delicate operation. The world around him seemed much more real. He could hear every creak of in the house, the sighing breaths of Ember's parents down the hall, could feel the smooth, slightly grainy wood of the door to her bedroom under his hand. He gave it a light push, watching it swing open.

Wide pupils, picking up every bit of light, every tiny reflection, saw the whites of her eyes through the shadows of that room. "She's awake." He said, voice low, and no doubt menacing to her.

The two stepped in, Ben's partner pulling on a pair of gloves. "Right." Ben said, voice still low and soft, "There are two ways we can do this, Ember. You can come with us quietly. Or I can make you come with us quietly. And believe me when I say that, because I can take over your mind any time I want..." In fact, he couldn't just do that instantaneously. But it would be better if she believed that to be so. At most, what he could do from where he stood was give her a sensory overload - which had a chance of stopping her from screaming, and a chance of making her do just that. Still, we can probably handle the parents...

He reached out towards her mind, seeking to read it, wanting to know if she posed any threat at all to them. What is your power, Ember Jenkins?

Ember

I felt a weird sensation in my mind. I couldn't understand the feeling. "Fire..." I whispered, without telling myself to. It was almost as if...someone else was controlling my mind.
I got out of bed and walked to the door, my limbs moving automatically. I couldn't think, I had no control over my body. I walked down the hall and saw dim shapes...I was walking towards them, and I couldn't stop myself

and hold for all eternity
For just one second I felt whole... as you flew right through me.

Ben, Telepathy, Reno

The two men exchanged a slightly alarmed glance at that one word. They'd have to handle her carefully, destructive powers like that could be very difficult to contain at times. Even more difficult to deal with.

They both looked to her as she walked out into the hallway, towards them, before Ben held up a hand. She stopped. His partner gave a slight grin. "You're getting better at this."

Ben nodded, "Bit by bit. But I don't know how long I'll be able to hold her like this. I'm already starting to get a headache. You'll have to carry me out." He walked to her, set the tips of his fingers against her forehead, and closed his eyes.

Through Ember's, he could see his body falling backwards, his partner catching him and starting to drag him out of the house. Ben made the new body stretch a little, trying to get used to the feel of it. Soon, he was following his partner, wondering if he should try out her ability while he had a chance, get a feel for how far she could go.

Maybe burn down her house. That would cut off a few questions about where she'd gone, after all. "What do you think about that, Ember?" He said quietly, chuckling a little.

Ember

"No!" Ember whispered. She could feel heat rising in her body. Something was making her mad, and was controlling her. "Please no...I don't want to hurt anyone! please..." she whispered, before she fainted, a small fire burning in her hand.

Chiara - Light Control - Reno

I arrived in Reno late into the night. I made my way through the streets quietly, and quickly.

I soon came across a seemingly normal house, but for a split second a tiny light burst through the windows, that which would be made by fire, but not that of a match - it was too different. Special. I walked closer to the house, past two cars. I crouched by the door. Another flicker through the window. A rather unusual occurrence for the middle of the night.

Slowly moving around the light patterns, I made the area slightly lighter. I could see through the window two men, and a young girl.

Shoot, what did I just walk in on?.

The door latch opened, and I quickly cloaked myself in a blanket of darkness.
Mo. was here. :) mwahahaha

"No!" The girl whispered, "Please, no...I don't want to hurt anyone! Please..." Then, Ember's body staggered a few steps, before Ben's grip on her mind forced it to right itself. But she'd fainted. All resistance to his control had been removed for the time being. He smiled to himself, starting to remove the other restrictions on her power, the flame burgeoning in her hands.

"Ben." The other man's hiss cut through the darkness, "What on earth are you doing? We don't want a disturbance here. Let's just get moving, alright?" He reached down, unlatching the door and lugging Ben's unconscious body through, while Ben himself walked Ember out.

When they were outside, Ben found his partner searching up and down the street, eyes narrowed.

"What's going on?" He asked, using Ember's body to do the talking. His, given that it was effectively dead, couldn't do such a thing until he linked his mind back to it.

There was a long pause before the other man spoke. "Nothing. I thought I heard someone, but there's no one here." He looked at Ember, "Guess I'm just a little jumpy after you pulled that little stunt. You know that the boss wouldn't approve of such things." He pulled open the door of the car, laying Ben's body down on the back seat. Then, he opened the boot, giving a mocking 'please, enter' gesture to it, smiling at the controlled Ember.

Ben marched her over to it, then paused, looking at his partner. "I've no great desire to spend the trip to wherever we're headed next in the boot of a car...mind hauling my body over here so I can swap back?"

A nod, and then Ben was being hauled back, the back door of the car left open the entire time. It was only when he had switched his mind back to his body, Ember dumped unceremoniously in the boot of the car, that he got around to closing the back door.

Chiara - Light Control - Reno

I watched carefully as the door opened, a man and a girl walked out, the man dragging another mans body. The girl walked and for a moment it looked like she was having an argument with another person inside her.

How strange. I thought.

The walked to one of the two cars I had seen on my way in. They opened the and dropped the man into it. And then the girl said the strangest thing.
"I've no great desire to spend the trip to wherever we're headed next, in the boot of a car...mind hauling my body over here so I can swap back?"

My body? What is this girl on about. I wasn't sure what a typical kidnapping looked like, but this seemed to follow the basic guidelines; unconscious person in the back, a young girl, and a suspicious looking male.

The back door opened, no-one paying attention to it. This was my moment. I quickly ran to the car and jumped into the back, making sure I kept the light from reflecting off me, to sustain my blanket of nothingness.

Sorry I haven't been posting... This probably won't be very long.

Xanthe listened as the others gave their names. Steven, Rae, Joan. The relief was still there: relief that she wasn't alone any more - and now there was hope, that maybe these people could understand her, like her, as well. Her powers had always set her apart from other people - but with these, didn't they make her fit in?
"My name's Xanthe," she said, and then realised how tired she was feeling. "I've never projected for this long. I'll have to get back home and come here in my real body. Can you give me the address, please? Or will you still be here?" She paused, confused. "How long does it take to get here from New York?"

Erm, how long does it take to get to Seattle from New York? And how would you get there? According to Google Maps it's 1 day 20 hours in the car.
"What if, doctor, we need these knots and these tangles because they're the only things holding our souls down - and if we untied the knots and untangled the tangles and stretched them out ... would our souls just float away?"
