TANYA

"I'll be back," she sighed, to Sadie. She was upset about Lyanna having to leave and was very concerned about what might have happened to her.

Tanya raced off in the direction Lyanna had left. Then, a limp mound caught her eyes. She walked slowly over to it and swallowed. It looked like...a girl.

"Excuse me?" Tanya asked, running towards the limp shape and kneeling

Tanya screamed as she saw Lyanna's bloody form there. She instantly thought to use her healing spell, but the damage was far too much for her to heal. Tanya trembled and fell away from her.

"Oh Lyanna," she whispered, hot tears leaking from her eyes. "Oh my goodness!"

There was dried blood on her face and down her front, most of it coming from her nose and mouth. Buises seemed to be making themselves known, covering nearly all of her body.

"Oh, God, Lyanna," she whimpered. She touched her face lightly and her body shook with more force. Humans were nasty and barbaric creatures. She had been sheltered from this at home, and now she wished she had never come to this place.

Tanya tried to lift her but her tiny shape wouldn't allow it. "Help!" She screamed. Tanya wanted to scramble away from the beaten form, but Lyanna was her friend and she had to help her.

"Please!" She screamed. "Help!"

"Help!" Lyanna recognized that voice. Her eyelids fluttered.
"Tanya." Lyanna murmured.
Her body was racked with pain, her arm and leg felt like they were broken, and she tasted warm blood in her mouth. The rest of her was burning like it was on fire. "Lyanna!" Tanya sounded like she was crying. "You're going to be all right, I'm going to get help." Lyanna moaned in pain, and Tanaya began crying harder. "I can't believe- I mean, how could-" Tanya broke off with more sobbing. Lyanna saw red and blue flashing lights coming towards them. Then she lost consciousness.

He could see Sharonda leaning over him. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, what happened?" He asked sitting up.

"You fainted after the officer left," Sharonda smiled at him.

Dylan looked arounf the room, noticing that David was just coming into focus. "Where's Gil?"

"Oh, he's right over-" She pointed and turned to face the area behind her, but stopped short when she didn't see Gillim. "Hmm, that's funny. I could have sworn that he was right there a second ago."

Dylan got to his feet and started looking around, "No sign of him over here. Hey David, where did you go?"

Sadie

I started running up the road, I'd had a wierd feeling and I knew something was wrong. I guess it was my intuition. That and the sirens, anyway.

I arrived at the spot just as the ambulance pulled away, leaving nothing but a couple of spectators and a faint smudge of red on the tarmac.

No-one looked at me, so I ran up to a middle aged woman who was standing near.
"S'cuse me, could you tell me what happened here, please?"
The woman looked grim.
"Some poor girl was lying here, beaten within an inch of her life poor thing. I didn't notice at first until another came along, just a few minutes ago. She shouted for help for help, the ambulance came and they both got whisked off."

Tears started to run down my face.

"Thank you." I managed to blurt out, before I turned away and started to run. I knew my way around here well, it would only take 15 minutes to get to the hospital if I ran fast.

Lyanna, Lyanna. Please be Ok.

Tanya was trying to control herself.

"Ma'am?" She heard a small, comforting voice talking to her. "Do you know this girl?"

They were in the ambulance. Tanya was still in shock, though her sobbing had subsided into a slight hiccup and trembling.

"Y-Yes," she wimpered. "She's my friend."

Tanya clutched Lyanna's hand. When she woke up, Tanya wanted to be there. She would stay up the whole night if she had too. She brushed a stray hair from her face. The woman beside her had cleaned up most of the blood, but could do nothing for the nasty bruises.

"Oh Lyanna," she sighed. "I'm so sorry."

"Lyanna? Is that her name?" The woman asked. Tanya just nodded.

"Why don't you take a break honey," she woman replied, kindly. "We'll be at the hospital soon."

Tanya shook her head. "I'm staying with her."

"Why don't you tell me this young ladies parents?" the woman asked. Tanya turned to glare at her.

"This is not their concern. Please don't even mention her parental authority to me again," Tanya hissed. She didn't know what had gotten into her. Tanya had always been the kind, nuturing type. Still, seeing Lyanna lying there, motionless. Well, she thought really terrible things about her parents.

Gillim

Silently, the fairy slipped the window open and leaped lightly out onto the sidewalk. There was no one out walking around as far as he could see and very few cars. He frowned. Poo. It looks as though I'm going to have to find new targets first.

Suddenly a big white van with flashing lights and a siren went streaking past. Gillim let out a low whistle. Loud noises and obnoxious blinking lights? Those were two of his all-time favorite things! He had to see where the wonderful vehicle was headed.

Spotting a beetle on the sidewalk, he grabbed it between his fingers and turned it into an enormous black horse. "Gee up," he called as he swung himself onto its back. It tossed its mane and galloped onwards, Gillim steering it towards the hospital.

Sharonda ran to the window, which was open. She sighed in frustration. "He's gone." She bit her lip. Gillim may be annoying, but she liked to consider him a friend. She shook her head. I should just let him go. She thought, before climbing out the window.

She fell about five feet and landed in a crouch. She saw Gillim, chasing a car that was screaming and flashing lights. It looked like he was on a horse. She raced after him, glad that she had spent so much time running around the forest.

Then a hand grabbed her mouth, and another wrapped around her middle.

She was dragged into an alleyway. She kicked and fought, biting the hand that covered her mouth. "Ow!" The hand retreated and Sharonda let out an ear-splitting shriek. She felt something grab her hair and jerk back, hard. She shrieked again. Fear completely took her over, and she froze up.

Gillim

"Whoa boy." Gillim frowned and turned his horse around. That scream... it sounded a bit like Sharonda.

He bit his lip, unsure of what to do. On the one hand, he really wanted to see where the shrieking flashing truck was going, but on the other the scream sounded pretty desperate. After a moment's hesitation, he leapt lightly off the horse and took off towards the alleyway where the scream had come from.

"Sharonda?" he called. "Was that you?"

"Sharonda? Was that you?" Sharonda's heart leapt. Whatever had her was dragging her off. "Gillim!" She shrieked. Something hit the back of her head, and she saw stars. She also saw Gillim coming into the alleyway.

Gillim cocked his head when he saw that something had Sharonda. A very angry look crossed his face, but it smoothed over almost immediately into his usual obnoxious grin.

"Hey there, I'm afraid that doesn't belong to you, sir. Mind if I just...?" He came closer, hand outstretched. If he could touch either of them...

Sharonda knew it wasn't going to work. But then again, Gillim did have a way with people. She saw his hand. The person who had a hold of her seemed unsure of what to do. Before they could decide Gillim had grabbed the person's wrist. She felt the hands fall away. She didn't look to see what had happened to the person, but immediately flung her arms around Gillim and burst into tears.

Gillim froze up; he'd never been in a situation like this before. "Er, are you alright, Sharonda?" He sounded as though he didn't quite know what he was supposed to say.

Sharonda nodded but didn't say anything. Instead she sobbed into his shoulder.

Feeling a little panicky, he patted her back with one hand. The other was firmly gripping a little ball of yellow feathers that was chirping loudly.

Tears continued running down Sharonda's face. Her entire frame was shaking. "Gi-Gillim." She sobbed. He patted her back hesitantly. She had been frightened out of her wits. She broke down into more sobs. Gillim obviously felt awkward, but Sharonda didn't care. "I-I'm sorry about ear-earlier." She whimpered.

Gillim winced. "Please stop crying, you're making me very uncomfortable. I mean, you were mad, of course you yelled at me. I'm used to being yelled at. Just... stop crying." He was pleading now.

The canary in his hand continued to warble angrily.

Sharonda nodded and took a deep shuddering breath. Then another. She let go of Gillim and wiped her eyes. "Okay, I'm fine." Her limbs were still shaking from adrenaline. She continued breathing deeply, and closed her eyes. When she opened them again Gillim still looked uncomfortable. "I really am sorry. I don't know what came over me." She said. Her voice was hoarse from crying and fear.
