Brooklyn liked, no loved the feeling of being so close to Jayke in so little, but her mind was on the Matt guy. He was still staring at her even though he was playing tonsil hockey with the girl he was with. Brooklyn didn't need another Jason-like encounter. Even if they were friends now, Jason still freaked her out the way he stared at her, and Matt was sharing that stare. "I don't like him," she whispered to Jayke, who was still holding her around the waist tightly.

"Not a lot of girls do, unless they're one of the cheerleaders of course," Brooklyn smiled up at him cheekily.

"Well of course. They wouldn't care what he looked like as long as he was willing to give them what they wanted." Jayke laughed loudly and nodded. "I'm going to get out for bit," she smiled and glanced over to the stairs, where Matt was hanging out with some friends, all of them staring at her. She shuddered and sighed lightly. "On second thought, I'm just going to hang out right here, until they move at least." She grinned up at Jayke worriedly, resting her head on his arm.

"Come on." He walked towards the stairs putting her in front of him when they went up so he could make sure no one touched her. He glared at Mike as they walked by. "I'll be right over, I need to have a talk with Mike." He said patting her arm then walking abck to the pool and standing in front of the group.

"Whats with the scowl?" Mike smiled.

"She's mine, stop looking at her like she's a piece of meat. No one is going to touch her. Understand. She's not available to any of you and never will be, so stop it. I don't want to even hear that you looked at her the wrong way." He said firmly.

"Sorry dude." Mike smiled. "Figured the ol' rule applied, any girls free game to football players."

"Not this one. Ever." He replied firmly. "Don't try, I hear you did and I swear you'll never be catching another pass for the rest of your life." He climbed back out of the pool and walked over to where Brook was standing talking to Taylor and Trent.

Brooklyn smiled slightly when Jayke walked back over, looking pissed. "Are you okay?" She smiled, her brows furrowed in concern. Jayke smiled slightly, running a hand through his wet hair and grinned, nodding slowly.

"I'm fine, just a little angry, that's all." Brooklyn laughed lightly and nodded in understanding.

"You know, it's so odd that we live in Colorado, and it's October, and everyone's in a swimming pool," she grinned, Taylor laughing lightly and rolling her eyes. "I know that it doesn't start getting cold till November and stuff, but jeez Louise this is something we'd be doing in Florida."

"You're not cold are you?" Taylor teased, receiving a glare.

"Of course not! It's just odd doing it all again," she grinned, grabbing Jayke's hand and threading her fingers through his playfully.

**Thats fine**

Jayke squeezed her and. He liked the feeling of her hand in his. But he liked the feeling of her in his arms better. He glanced back towards the pool to see Mike still watching. He frowned, he just wasn't going to give up. Jayke wrapped his arms around her shoulders pulling her close.

"Well welcome back to crazy colorado." He smiled.

Brooklyn smiled up at him brightly, restng her head on his shoulder. Taylor and Trent smiled schematically, giving Brooklyn an uneasy feeling. "You two freak me out when you do that, you know that right?" The two just laughed loudly and Brooklyn rolled her eyes.

**Don't worry**

Trent looked at Jayke and Jayke smiled a little. He felt right with her in his arms. He always had, he just never knew how to tell her.

"Hey, your house is locked." A girl called. He looked over to see a couple trying to get inside.

"Go to your own house to screw today, i dont' feel like cleaning it up." He yelled at them. They pouted but soon disappeared. "Stupid horny teenagers." He growled. Brook lauged as Trent and Taylor did too.

"Like you aren't one," Taylor teased, causing a blush to appear on Jayke's face, which made Brooklyn and Trent bust into laughter. Brooklyn poked him in the side playfully, locking in on his eyes with a grin.

"Dork," she teased with a lightly laugh, soon getting locked in a headlock. The whole time, however she couldn't push the feeling of Mike's eyes burning into her back lustfully.

Jayke picked her up and walked towards the pool.

"No, Jayke, stop, please don't." She said squirming in his arms. He smiled and jumped in holding her close so she wouldn't get hurt when they hit the water. They surfaced and he smiled at her wet face.

"Jerk!" She laughed splashing him. He laughed and splashed her back pulling her under the water then surfacing again. He looked past her at Mike who was swimming over.

"So you going to introduce your new girlfriend?" Mike asked. Jayke frowned, he wasn't about to admit she wasn't his girlfriend.

"I'm Brooklyn, and I don't like you." Brook said as she moved close to Jayke who wrapped his arm around her waist holding her close.

"Hey, I'm sorry about earlier. Honest." Mike smiled.

Brooklyn liked that word when it was associated between her and Jayke. Girlfriend. However, she knew it would never happen. She'd have better luck being just friends with Mike rather than being Jayke's girlfriend. Brooklyn poked her lips out, still a little nervous about the way he was staring at her. The way his eyes were clouded over with lust and mock honesty. She knew that look from heart. The last thing she wanted was an enemy though, especially one that Brittney could team up with. "It's cool, I guess," she knew Jayke was staring at her in disbelief. She'd have to explain herself later and she knew it.

"So, we cool?" Mike smiled childishly and Brooklyn half-smiled.

"Yeah, we're cool," she grinned half heartily.

Jayke frowned and glared at Mike. He tightened his grip on her waist. "Come on, we're going to go get some food." He said pulling Brook with him. He pulled her inside and to the kitchen. "You DON"T want to be friends with him."

"But I have logic, let me....." She started.

"No logic. You don't need to hang out with him. I should either, but he's on the team." He said.

"But I don't want Brittney to have someone to team up with." She replied.

"I'll make sure Brittney doesn't mess with you." He replied. "I don't want you getting hurt."

"I dont' need you to act like a boyfriend when you don't want or need to." She replied. He stepped back feeling like she'd hit him in the gut.

"I didn't know you disliked the idea so much." He snapped. "Never said I didn't want to." he muttered the last part as he turned around and walked out of the kitchen.

**Ever get that feeling that you have a rock in your stomach while thinking, oh my god, what just happened here? Haha! I just got that! Random I know, but oh wellll**

That's it! Brooklyn had had it! Guys were just globs of confusion! She let out a loud groan of annoyance and stomped out of Jayke's house, slamming the door behind her as she hurried over to her house, tears of every emotion she could feel rolling down her face. God she'd turned into such a cry baby lately. First it was Jayke three years ago, then Jason for two years, then the Matt guy at the party, then Brendon, then Mike, and now Jayke. She was tired of it all.

I'm becoming a hermit. Will you buy some dog food for Elvis whenever I need you too. I'm going to install a permanent lock on my door and make a pulley out the window. I'll send Elvis down when he needs to go on a walk. I also need someone to pick some mice up for Monty when I need it as well.

Thanks love,
Brook the to-be Hermit

She sent the message to Taylor and collapsed on her bed, after locking her door of course. Elvis was downstairs, running around and Monty was asleep. Brooklyn rolled over on her bed, letting her anger, confusion and just plain annoyance out in quiet tears.

By the time Jayke reached the back door he decided he was going to tell her the truth. He turned around and walked back to the kitchen, but she was gone. He ran outside to where Taylor was looking at her phone.

"Where's Brook?" He asked. Taylor held the phone up and he read it.

"Shit." He turned and walked over to Brook's house and up to her room knocking on the door.

"GO away." She yelled.

"I need to talk to you, Brook." He replied.

'GO AWAY!" She yelled again.

"Fat chance of that. Just let me in, I'm not leaving until you do." He replied. "I'll stay here all night and tomorrow if I have to. But you gotta eat some how."

Brooklyn glared at the door, hugging her knees to her chest. "If I starve I starve, okay?" She retaliated angrily, running her fingers through her hair. Shit the key! She thought quickly and ran towards the door, attempting to get there before Jayke remembered the key above the door.

The door swung open when she was only a mere two feet from it, a rather annoyed looking Jayke standing there with a key in the lock on the door. Brooklyn stared at him in the eyes for a few minutes before her eyes set into a glare. She stomped over to her bed, throwing the covers over her head in sheer anger.

"Brooklyn," he started.

"I don't care Jayke! Ugh!" Brooklyn wiped her eyes on her pillow angrily, leaving dark stains from her eyeliner on the red pillow covers.

"Alright, but you know what, I do." He replied walking over and yanking the covers off her head. "And your going to listen then I'm going to leave. GOt it?" She just glared.

"Alright we understand each other." He smiled a little and then got serious again. "I know how you feel on the matter you've made it very clear, but I'm going to tell you straight up what the deal is. You see, I love you. I have sense we were little but I've never had a chance and I figure I still don't have a chance, but it's out there now. DO what you will with it." He stood up and started walking to the door grabbing the key to take it with him.

Brooklyn stared after his retreating form for a couple seconds, his words sinking in. He loved her and it took him seventeen years to say so. She swallowed the quickly forming lump in her throat and clawed the covers off her body, tripping out of bed. She hit the hardwood floor with a thump, her feet still knotted in the sheets. With a growl of annoyance she kicked her feet angrily, untying the sheets around her feet before she shot after Jayke, sliding across the slick ground here and there. She stumbled down the stairs and slid into Jayke's back right as he reached for the handle of the front door.

Brooklyn wrapped her arms around him from behind tightly, burrowing her head in between his shoulder blades before letting out a choked noise, her tears welling. "And it took you seventeen years to tell me this?" She sniffed, still holding on.

"Yeah Brook, it did, but you obviously don't feel the same way though. You've made that obvious." He tensed, his muscles flexing freely through his polo shirt.

"How did I make it obvious? Have I ever said straight to you that I didn't love you?"
