War of the Tsurekin

Taura got up yet again. There were multiple dents where Sahara slammed into him. The Tsurekin seemed to struggle to stand.

Ivy frowned and said, "Sahara, finish him off."

"As you wish, Miss Stone." Sahara's eyes shifted to red as he opened his mouth. Just as before, light began to collect in his mouth. The light grew brighter and brighter until he let it out in a concentrated beam that pierced straight through Taura's shoulder with ease. The Tsurekin let out a pain filled roar as it fell to his knees.

Bulgar frowned and jumped off the brick fence. "You think you've won? I've still got a trick up my sleeve." He approached his Tsurekin. As he moved, he slowly raised his hand toward Taura. For a split second there was fear in Ivy's eyes, but she was turned away from the others so they didn't see it. She raised her own arm toward Bulgar. The man suddenly stopped, his hand inches away from his Tsurekin. There was a pained look on his face.

"I don't think it would be smart to do that, especially with the C.I.A. looking for your Tsurekin." She raised her arm, and as if by magic Bulgar's body began to levitate off the ground. The pained look in his face changed to panic. He started clawing at his own neck, as if grasping for hands that weren't there. He opened his mouth to scream, but no sound came out.

"These children are under my protection," Ivy said. "I'll let you go tonight, because I want you to relay a message to the Tsurikansen. If anyone else so much as steps foot onto this property, I will kill them." Ivy dropped her arm, and Bulgar came plummeting back to the ground. He breathed in hard, as if he had been holding his breath for too long. He got to his feet as he struggled to breathe. "Now, get out of my sight."

Bulgar glared at Ivy, but said, "Taura, let's go." The minotaur managed to get back on its feet. The two of them walked out of the mansion's grounds through the hole in the wall they had created.

When they were gone, Kai said, "Ivy, what was that just now?" She turned to face them. Kai, Skylar, and Sean all had shocked looks on their faces. Even the Tsurekin looked surprised.

She simply said, "As your bond with your Tsurekin grows more powers will awake, in both your Tsurekin, and yourselves."

"Like magic?" Skylar asked.

"Kind of. When the time comes you will fully understand what it is." She replied. "Now, you need to finish eating." They walked back into the mansion and Skylar finished her food not even paying attention. What they had just seen was amazing. She glanced at Tala who was sitting next to her. What could Tala do, and when they got closer what could she do? The thought made Skylar giddy. She couldn't wait to find out.

When they were done Ivy had them go back to their area to relax. "You'll have a long day tomorrow, get some rest." She told them before they left. Skylar knew she'd hurt tomorrow, but the thought of having powers and being as conected to Tala as Ivy was to Sahara made it not seem like a bad thing at the moment.


**Off to a college class. **

(Have fun. I was thinking of having Kai become stronger and create fire, Skylar can move faster and have her sense of smell enhanced, and Sean can become more agile and climb things with ease. I have a funny way of having them discover their powers.)


They all said good-night before retreating to their rooms. Kai closed his door before flopping down on his bed. Ryukin curled up at the foot of the bed soon after.

"That was amazing, the way Sahara fought," Ryukin said.

Kai nodded. "It sure was. It's obvious they have a lot to teach us. It looks like we made the right decision in coming here."

"Not to mention we're living in a giant mansion now, as opposed to that box of an apartment," Ryukin pointed out.

Kai laughed. "Yeah, that too..." A yawn escaped his lips as his eyelids suddenly became heavy. "Good-night, Ryukin," was all he could saw before he drifted off to sleep.


(I was thinking we could have a time jump to the next morning.)

**Sounds good to me**

Skylar woke up the next morning and as predicted her legs didn't even want to move, and her stomach muscles were killing her. She got up and forced herself to walk to the dresser as she got dressed. Tala streched and looked at her.

"Your sore." Tala said matter-o-factly.

"Thank you captain obvious for defending the world with your crow bar of duh." She snapped back.

"Well, I'm sorry." Tala smiled.

"Sorry, I'm fine." She said as she walked out to the living room area. "Just really sore."

Kai and Sean came out of their rooms a little after Skylar did. It seemed as though they, too, were feeling sore from their ten laps the other night. Sean seemed the most tired. He was only up for a few moments before he crashed on the couch.

"Man, I'm so sore. Do we have to go to school today?" he asked.

"Yes," Skylar said, "Now get up."

Reiky jumped onto Sean's back and started poking him in the head. "Ivy said it's only going to get worse," she said. "You'd might as well get used to it while you can."

"Easy for you to say. You're made of metal, you don't have muscles."

Kai sighed and made his way toward the door. "Come on, Sean. You're going to be late if you don't hurry up."


(How was your class?)

Skylar followed them down to the area where the cars and all were. She got on her bike and bit her lip. "this is going to be a fun ride."

"Want to ride with me?" Sean asked.

"No, I'm fine, I'm not going to change my routine." She replied as she started the bike and took off. It hurt when she hit bumps but she soon got used to the pain and it soon grew numb.

Science class came first, like always. It seemed as though things hadn't died down much since Kai was on the news. A few kids pestered him again at the beginning of class. Skylar chased them away, of course. She was becoming more and more like a bodyguard.

Kai couldn't pay attention to the lecture. Thoughts of the night before drew away his attention. One thing in particular worried him. When Taura was defeated, Bulgar didn't seem that worried. Sure he was frowning, but it was a frown of annoyance, like at a fly that won't leave you alone. When he went to touch Taura, Ivy seemed very intent at stopping him, so much so that she used her powers to almost choke him to death. What was he going to do that would worry her enough to reveal her power to them?

Something else worried him. What if Ivy hadn't been there to protect them? Against such a large Tsurekin, even the three of them together might not have stood a chance. She had said their most powerful weapon was the bond they shared with their Tsurekin. What kind of powers would they get if that bond grew strong enough? More importantly, would they be enough to take down a member of Tsurikansen?

Kai wiped a bead of sweat off his forehead. Today was proving to be quite the scorcher. He wondered if the air conditioning was broken today. He leaned over to Sean and whispered, "Sure is hot, isn't it?"

Sean gave him an odd look. "No, it's not hot at all."

Kai cocked an eyebrow at that. "It's not? I thought the air conditioning was broken or something."

"The AC is just fine. If anything, the room is a little chilly this morning."

"Huh..." Kai went back to trying to concentrate on the lesson. It was proving more and more difficult with each passing moment, as the room kept getting hotter. It got so bad that he was starting to feel dizzy.

Kai raised his hand. "Sir, I need to go to the washroom."

The teacher nodded. "The hall pass is beside the door. Don't be too long."

***What am I supposed to post? I'm lost. ***

(You can have Skylar notice something is wrong with Kai.)

((Ok, but it'll be short, then I have to go get my brother. I'll get back on when I get home))

Skylar watched him walk off and she glanced at Sean. "Something isn't right." She whispered.

"What do you suggest?" He asked.

"We need to check on him." She replied. The teacher glanced back and she acted like she was paying attention.

"May I have a hall pass to use the restroom?" Sean asked.

"Fine." The teacher said. Skylar watched him leave then she waited a few minutes and started coughing. "Is something wrong?"

"No..." She coughed again and he frowned.

"Go to the nurse. Now please." She nodded and kept the act up until she was far from the class then caught up with Sean.

"How'd you get out?" He asked. SHe started coughing and he laughed.

The closest washroom was small with only two stalls and three urinals. The sink was a metal fountain with a bar at the floor that when you press your foot down on it the water comes out.

He soaked his face with water. It felt better for a few moments, then the water seemed to evaporate right off his skin. He leaned against the fountain with both hands on the edge. He looked at his red face in the mirror and thought, What's wrong with me?

He heard the creak of metal under his hands. When he looked down he gasped. The edge of the fountain that he was holding onto had caved in, as if someone took the world's strongest vice and crushed it.

Kai moved back out of shock, putting him against the wall. His hand brushed against the paper hanging out of the paper towel dispenser. As soon as his skin touched it, it went up in flames. He yelped with surprise and jumped back. That's when he tripped over the metal garbage can. It's contents spilled out onto the floor beside Kai. His hand brushed against one of the discarded towels, and it caught on fire too. The fire spread to the rest of the trash.

Kai panicked and rushed for the door. He grabbed the handle and turned it, but it snapped right off the door. It wasn't even an old handle either, and Kai broke it by merely trying to turn it. Now he was trapped with the growing fire.


(You can have Skylar smell the smoke before the fire alarm kicks in, then she can rush down the hall with her new speed from her bond with Tala.)

**Ok**

They turned down another hall way and Skylar froze.

"What?" Sean asked.

"Don't you smell that?" She demanded.

"Smell what?" He asked.

"Smoke!" She replied before taking off for where the smell was coming from. She stopped at the door and looked around. Sean was no where in site. She blinked, she shouldn't have gotten there that fast. She shoved the door open and saw Kai pressed against the wall looking at the fire right as the fire alarms started to go off. She grabbed Kai and let go. "Your burning up!" She said looking at her hands that still stung.

"Can we just get out of here?" he asked. She nodded and they walked out of the bathroom. Sean ran over.

"How on earth?" HE demanded.

"I don't know." Kai replied looking at Kai.

"Not you, her!" Sean said. "She smelled the fire three hall ways down and then ran here like lightening."

"Doesn't matter, lets get out of here first." She said as students started milling outside. They blended in until they got outside and then they went back to where their class was.

"Whats going on?" Sean asked in a whisper.

"I don't know," Kai said. "I touched a paper towel, and it caught on fire somehow. When I tried to get out the door handle broke."

"What do you mean, it broke?" Skylar asked.

"I mean it snapped right off the door. That's why I couldn't get out."

Skylar bit her lip. Now that she thought about it she did see a broken door handle on the ground in the washroom. It looked like it had been torn right out of the door. "You are you feeling now?" Skylar asked.

"A little better. My body is starting to cool down."

Skylar risked touching his forehead. It wasn't as hot as before, but his skin was hot enough to pass as a fever. "When they put out the fire and call us back in we'll tell them you're coming down with something. When the nurse takes your temperature she'll believe us. We'll call Ivy to come pick you up. She'll know what to do."

Kai nodded.

"What about you?" Sean asked. "That'll only get him out."

"I'm fine, I'll just go back like normal." She replied with a shrug. She caught herself from saying she was only concerned with Kai's safety and health. When the fire was put out though, school was closed until they knew for sure what had caused it and that it wasn't going to start again. Kai got into Sean's car and Skylar got her bike and followed them back to the mansion walking right to Ivy's office knocking on the door.

"Come in." Ivy called. They opened the door and walked in. "Why aren't y'all at school?"

"It's closed for the rest of the day." Sean replied.

"Why?"

"I nearly burned it down." Kai said. "And I don't know how."

"What about you?" Sean asked. "That'll only get him out."

"I'm fine, I'll just go back like normal." She replied with a shrug. She caught herself from saying she was only concerned with Kai's safety and health. When the fire was put out though, school was closed until they knew for sure what had caused it and that it wasn't going to start again.
