-Scado-

"So you think you can get us out of here?" Scado asked supiciosly.

"Sure," Meer said. "The only problem would getting him to let me only take a few guards."

"As long as you can get us out of here," adam said.

"I'll be back." Meer stood up and left, locking the door behind him.

"You think he can pull it off?" I asked Adam.

"We'll never know," he replied.

Hours passed without word from Meer. I was worrying that he really was like his father and only was trying to get our hopes up. More hours passed when he finally returned.

He slammed my cell door open and stormed in. "Get up prisoner!" he yelled.

"What the hell is this?" I shouted.

He grabbed my collar roughly and pull me to where our noses were nearly touching. He whispered, "Play along." Then his voice returned to his commanding, angry tone. "Put the Werewolf and his friend here in shackles, and make sure they're uncomfortable. It's going to be a long walk."

Yes, this was was strange. A little fairy was currently perched on his cobbled, azure shoulder. She almost dissapeared in the sea coloured hues of his mane.
"Uh, nice to meet you," he managed to grumble, unsure of how to be polite. He stayed very still, his head still resting on his claws.
"Altu, your beak is wonderful. Such lovely colours," she reached out and brushed a hand against its smooth surface.
She was brave, this fairy. He liked that. His sombre face relaxed more. He almost felt a smile coming.
"The others don't like me. Hrumph," he broke off, looking at the alan's deep frown.
"C'mon and sit with us."
Altu gave in and stood up slowly, trying not to knock the fairy off his shoulder.
"Fine... I suppose..."

April~~

"So..." April was a little off the edge right now, her mind was literally swimming in circles. So a wizard was perched on her shoulder and she didn't notice, the thought didn't register actually and she felt dumb.
A little while after they all sat around the fire, the orange flames licking the slightly damp wood, it was going to rain again soon, April could taste it.

"It was also said, that when they were more plentiful, the race was called the arbiters of the gods." April stated, she felt like she was reciting.

"Arbiters? You mean like they controlled them?" Pippa asked, again dryly.

"Yeah they were kinda like the parents of the gods," Ra said sarcastically.

Keenan seemed disturbed that we were all talking of this but was listening in anyway, he seemed not to know much about his own powers and his kind's history.

CRUNCH[b]

Some cringed and others just looked dully over to the witch who was munching on a leafy piece of celery,

"Would you all like some?"

"Where did you get that?!" Someone asked across the fire.

"My bag..I haven't eaten since yesterday night" April offered to the group and most shook their heads no, not the green type really April presumed.

"So.." She looked at Keenan when she swallowed the last of it, "Who had enough power over you to get a slave collar on a Celestial Dragon such as yourself?"

*I have always wanted a Mary Poppins bag!! XD*

Ra

Keenan didn't answer April's question right away, he just glanced down, looking quite awkward about the question. "You don't have to answer," Ra said, feeling a slight twinge of pity for the boy.

"It's just... a sore subject, one I am trying to work through myself," Keenan muttered as he slowly traced circles in the dirt on the ground with his toe.

"I could take it off for you if you wanted," Ra offered, as he pointed at the silver collar.

"What?!" Keenan asked, suddenly getting excited, "You could?"

"Sure," Ra answered with a shrug, "Though there is a fifty percent chance you could die." Keenan blanched and April reached over to smack Ra in the shoulder. "What the heck was that for!" Ra asked, slightly surprised.

"You don't just offer to free someone and then let them know they would probably die in the process," April admonished, "You scared the poor kid."

"He won't probably die," Ra said with a slight sniff, "I said there was a fifty percent chance."

"Why only fifty?" Keenan asked, looking up, his face a bit pale.

"Your slave collar was made with powerful magic," Ra answered, "I can tell by the aura surrounding it. Whoever made that used the most powerful magic in existence for it."

"What kind?" April asked, obviously interested in the discussion.

"Blood Magic," Ra replied simply, "The caster mixed their own blood in with the silver when the collar was formed. It was made so only the caster could remove it, if anyone else tries it will kill the person it is enslaving."

"Blood Magic," April whispered her face going pale, "I thought it was impossible to remove things wrought by blood magic."

"Nearly," Ra answered with a grin, "I'm just really good!" he paused, and glanced over at Keenan, "It's your choice kid, if you don't want to risk it I can at least cast a spell that will lessen the pull of the collar."

"Do you... know a lot about Celestial Dragon's?" Keenan suddenly asked, his nervous gaze meeting Ra's eyes.

Sighing heavily Ra slowly nodded, "You could say that."

"Were they really... the Arbiters of the gods?" Keenan asked eagerly.

Ra let out a snort of disgust, "Hardly," he muttered, "But there were on a level with the gods themselves, some of the older ones were even considered gods in their own rights. But things have changed, war fell upon the earth and many of the dragons died, some at the hands of the god's themselves," Ra whispered as he glanced down at his hands, turning them over in the soft fire light as if looking for something that wasn't there. "I have fought them, even killed them before. Like Peace said, there was once a good Celestial Dragon, years ago, but he went crazy and turned dark."

"A thousand years ago," April whispered, "But that means you are-."

"Old," Ra cut in, "I am ancient by most regards." Sighing heavily he leaned back on the ground and said, "Some day I will pass away, but time is a fickle thing, it holds us in its large hands and yet sometimes we can manage to slip through its grasp." It was quiet for a few moments, as everyone pondered what had been said. "So what do you say boy?" Ra asked, "Want the collar off? Or maybe just a spell to hold back its power a bit?"

A guard came and pulled me over putting tight restraints on my shoulders and around my neck. Meer pulled me and Scado along and when we were put in the caridge Meer sat down in the back with us 8 guards around the cart and 2 leading the carrige pluse a group of twenty lagging behind slightly.

"sorry but apperently a large group has assembled to rescue Scado so my father wouldn't let me go with only a few guards." Meer said and I nodded.

"no shit" I said.

"slave colars pesky little things" I said to Keenan.

"you know of them" Ra said not knowing.

"yeah Adam use to be the slave of a vampire hunter until they came after me and I well killed the hunter and me and Adam have been together ever since but It still took a year to get the collar off" I said and then heard the sound of. Rolling wheels and Adams voice.

-Scado-

Scado heard the slight rustling of the forage up ahead. He knew that his rescue party was here. With what little movement he still had, he nudged Adam and whispered, "They're here."

He nodded and signaled towards Meer. "Halt!" he yelled.

"What is the matter, sir?" asked one of the guards. "Do you see anything?"

"No, I just figured it was around dinner time and thought we should eat. Everyone rest up."

"Bust sir, what about the rescue party?"

"It's only going to be an old Werewolf and some others. I'm sure they won't be problem to you."

"No, sir. Soldiers, at ease." All the soldier leaned against trees dropping their weapons, but still keeping them close by.

Suddenly Scado's bindings released and a black clothed item dropped from above. The soldiers were alert now. Scado unwrapped the item revealing the Blood Blade, his fathers personal weapon. An evil smile came to his face as he shift to his Werewolf form and attacked the first soldier and soon other creatures popped out subdueing or killing the other humans.

-Scado-

Scado stopped Lane as she was about to attack Meer. "Stop!" he shouted.

"It's just a filthy human," she said.

"He helped me escape." Scado pulled the Blood Paw Armor out of the black coth and put it on in human form. Then he shifted to Werewolf form and the armor easily stretched and pulled to match his changing shape. "Where's Adam?" Scado asked once he shifted.

"Over here," came a weak voice. He smiled showing sharp canines in his mouth. "Little tired. I guess that happens after you die and come back as a Vampire."

Lane:

Lane crossed her arms as she landed on Scado's shoulder as Pipppa walked over and looked around them.

"Why he not tied up?" She frowned looking at the guy Lane had almost killed.

"He's a friend." Scado replied.

"Ok." Pippa smiled. Lane smiled a tad and shook her head. Pippa was more eaisly to be ok with trusting a human then Lane was.

Pippa:

Pippa turned to the human as Scado was about to talk to Adam, at least that's what it looked like. She smiled and stuck her hand out.

"Hi, I'm Pippa." She smiled.

Ra

"A caravan is coming!" someone suddenly called out.

"Quick, douse the fire," someone else whispered as a bucket of water was tossed onto the fire, dousing the ember flames with a hiss as a cloud of white smoke rose into the air. In a matter of seconds the camp was deserted as everyone headed to the side of the road.

"What is going on!" Ra hissed to April as she pulled him under a bush.

"A caravan is coming, supposedly it has the prisoners in it, or at leas that is what Lane said. She spied it out in her small form, and supposedly they know we were coming for Scado so they are moving him," April hissed as a wagon came rolling by. It was surrounded by numerous guards who were holding spears and torches as they marched on pass. "Get your head down," April hissed as she tugged Ra down.

He stumbled, and fell with a slight grunt. "How do you humans do it," he muttered as he scrambled along. "These bodies are so lanky and... odd."

"Well it works fine for me," April responded as she peeked through the leaves as the small caravan pulled off the side of the road and began to make camp.

"So when are we going to attack?" Ra asked, "I could start, things off with as little bang!"

"We start when things... well start," April muttered as Ra gave her an odd look. "Okay," she hissed, "Im not sure how this whole thing is starting, all I know is that we need to rescue Scado."

"Hey guys," a voice muttered as Keenan came crawling up to them.

"Hello young dragon," Ra chirped, "Welcome to our... bush."

A sudden howl tore through the night and they all looked up to see a young werewolf go tearing through a guard, teeth glistening in the night as the terrified human let out a shriek of pain. The other soldiers were instantly ready, their swords and spears coming out as they turned to fight. "I am guessing that was the signal," Ra murmured.

"Come on," April yelled as she yanked out her wand and went running toward the soldiers, everyone else following.

Ra just sat there, feeling slightly bored as he watched the battle ensue. A soldier let out a scream of pain as a griffin tore into his side, its beak slicing through the tender flesh like a razor. Other soldier burst into flame as Fawke's released a fire ball at him. In a matter of seconds the man was turned to ash, his empty armor clattered to the ground as what was left of him was blown away by the wind. Keenan proved to be a good fighter as well, he leapt forward, a sword glowing in his hands as he spun and struck. With one blow he cleaved off a man's sword hand before burying his blade in the poor soldier's gut.

As the sounds of battle faded Ra crawled out of the bushes, making sure to brush himself off as he walked toward everyone else. They were all breathing hard, checking their wounds and making sure everyone was okay. April glared at Ra as he came sauntering into the camp, "Where were you!" she demanded.

"I was... busy," Ra sniffed.

"What good is having a wizard if he won't actually do anything," April demanded.

"I can do plenty of things," Ra replied, "I just didn't see the need to."

"Hey, adam's hurt!" someone called.

"Adam, who's Adam?" Fawke's asked a she alighted on a nearby branch.

"He's Peace's human," Ra muttered as he hurried over with everyone else. Peace was kneeling on the ground by a young man, a large hole blood hole was in his chest, and a discarded cross bow bolt lay nearby on the ground.

Kneeling over the human Ra felt his pulse and let out a heavy sigh as he shook his head. "My healing powers are quite extensive as you know Peace, but even he is beyond my means."

"I know," Peace whispered softly as he reached down and stroked the boy's cheek, gently brushing back a strand of stray hair. "I guess now is the time." With a slight growl Peace's fangs popped out as he leaned forward and plunged them into Adam's neck with a growl...

Joran

I cast a cautious glance at the firedrake standing in front of Lethero before nodding, my eyes once again shifting to his calm gray ones. "I can fly you there, I think, but I've never carried anyone on my back before. I can't guarantee how fast we'll get there, so pack food and warm clothes. It gets cold when you're up higher."

The old werewolf nodded to show he understood and moved off into a back room, leaving the firedrake and me alone. I shifted awkwardly and rubbed my hands together, my eyes flickering to her curiously more than once.

Finally, I couldn't stand it any longer.

"So you knew my mother?"

She smiled, as if she had been expecting this question. "Yes, for a brief period of time. She was a good fighter, if a bit stubborn and temperamental," the firedrake responded with a small huff of laughter.

"She mentioned a firedrake in her stories she told me when I was younger. Was that you? You two were friends?"

"You could say that," she said, her red shoulders lifting in a slight shrug. "Our focus was mainly on stopping evil during the time we spent together, but we got along well I suppose you could say. I'm Fyra, by the way."

"Joran. Though most just call me Jo."

Lethero walked back into the room, a small brown pack slung over his shoulder. "Alright. Lets go."

Amistin

I flexed my wings irritably, a small puff of steam forming in the air as I exhaled a sigh. The cold wind bit into my skin like burning daggers and I resisted the urge to simply land and make camp for the night. The thought of a warm fire and sleep was appealing and my wings were beginning to ache, but I knew if I stopped, another innocent life would be lost.

I lowered my head against the wind and plowed on, keeping my eyes locked on the horizon. It couldn't be much farther until I could walk the rest of the way. At least, I hoped it wouldn't be much farther.

My hopes were dashed when under me passed a landmark that only told that I was halfway there, and already I had been flying nearly three hours. I was flying slower than I thought and against the wind as well, and with the knowledge that I still had at least another three hours to go I could feel my wings getting heavier.

Just think about what will happen if you don't make it. Imagine what those innocent people will have to endure if you fail. If you're not strong enough, I told myself, forcing my wings to flap harder and faster.

A little over two hours later and I was still flying, numb to the bone and having trouble keeping awake. My eyes drifted lazily over the ground beneath me, looking for any landmarks that might tell me where I was. Trees, trees and more trees flew by and I almost didn't see when I passed over a small clearing where what appeared to be a battle was taking place. I passed over it before doubling back and flying a bit lower to get a better view.

Creatures of all shapes and sizes were attacking what seemed to be a small caravan of prisoners. There was so much movement that it was nearly impossible to make anything out, but then I caught sight of something that made my spirits soar. A young werewolf wielding the Blood Blade, an ancient weapon I had only seen in texts.

This was the one I was looking for. The one I had been told to save. Pushing all pain and exhaustion aside, I tucked my wings closer to my body and dove towards the fray. But by the time I landed, the fight seemed to be over.
Be the cartoon heart. Light a fire, light a spark. Light a fire, flame in my heart. We'll run wild, we'll be glowing in the dark.

April~~

April looked at Ra then back to the ensuing battle, she spotted Scado taking charge of his pack and smiled. She hadn't dome a gosh darn thing and she smiled more for some odd reason. Ra was leaning over a sleeping Adam and she joined the group of kneeling people.

"Peace did your transformation hurt?" April asked solemnly as she reached into her bag and dug through it.

"I barely remember it, it was so long ago," Peace answered still looking at Adam.

"Let's be careful shall we?" She pulled out a canvas sack and untied the rope around it, her comment was answered with a moan from Adam.

"What's in the sack?" Ra said questioningly, "I have never heard of herbs that null that sort of pain.

"Oh it's my own concoction of stuff herbs, water and alot of other things..."

"Can I?" She motioned to Adam and Peace nodded.

Meer

He was still in shock from everything that had happened. The screams of one of the guards still echoed in his ears, "Traitor! Lord Crayas will see you and your friends rot for this!" And no doubt his father knew of his treachery as well, one of his enslaved wizard-trackers would have seen it happen. And as if that wasn't enough, he'd found himself very nearly killed by one of Scado's werewolf friends for his trouble.

Now, everyone seemed to be gathered around Adam's prone form, trying to make sure that the new vampire was okay and not too thirsty for their blood. Well, everyone except for someone - a fairy? - who instead approached him, sticking her hand out, "Hi, I'm Pippa." She said with a smile.

He looked at her hand cautiously for a moment, then shook it, smiling back. This was the kind of person he'd always imagined magical creatures to be, friendly and unworried by the tensions between their kind and his. "I'm Meer." He replied, "Nice to meet you, Pippa."
