Every step, every silent moment as they had trudged through the undergrowth on their way back to the camp had been hell for Luis. His cousin's final cryptic warning to stay away from the jungle at night had him jumping at shadows. He was so alert that he could feel his ears pricked up, picking up every slight rustle amongst the greenery around them.

"How far in did we get?" He asked after a while, "I wasn't concentrating when I went in, but it feels like we've been walking for hours!"

"I think we must have been pretty far." Kate said, half-whispering, "I yelled out for you a couple of times, and you obviously didn't hear me."

He spotted the fire again, it had vanished for a while when the jungle had started getting thicker, but he could see it again now, "Quick, just go straight for it." He whispered back. Luis wasn't remotely keen on spending any more time in this eerie part of the island than he had to.

I had kept running, the sickness was gone and now replaced by other feelings.

I forced myself to run away from the camp, and not towards it. I had to keep going.

I reached the other side of the island before long, it was decently sized. I trudged out on to the sand, illuminated white in the moonlight.

I sensed something on a large rock near me.

Crap.

I turned and sprinted back into the jungle, knowing that whoever was on the rock only saw a small shadowy figure disappear back into the jungle. Hopefully they would not follow me.

It was already nightime when i came back to my tent. I chewed off the fish from my arrow taht i cooked over the rocks.

"Hey, what do you know, those kids must be so suffering. They do not even noticed that a fire is here or the point that i am making a living here," i said to myself as i put the person i carried on the ground.

"How did you get there?" i said again remembering on how i found him floating by his luggages on the sea shore. I was lucky enough to save him before he had drowned. I threw his luggages to the outside to avoid his to be mixed from mine and put a warm rug over him as continue eating. I do not worry for over eating for i never get fat.

And as i waited for him to wake up, i saw a tiny faint light by the forest.

the past few hours had been tiresome. I had finalyy found the way to my tent and I was now in it. Sleep didn't come as fast as I expected. i expected that the moment I lied down I would fall into a deep slumber. I didn't. I was too worried to go to bed. I didn't know exactly why, but I sat up in my tent long after everyone else had retreated to their tents, possibly asleep.

I went out to get some fresh air. It was nightime and the fire was out. I sat by what used to be the fire for a while. Suddenly someone came from behind me.

"Can't get any sleep, huh?"I turned to face him/her.

(*anyone can jump in*)

Chris:

Alexis had eventually returned to the camp and I felt relieved that she was back. We sat around the fire for a while waiting for everyone else, but eventually we all went to our tents. Sleep came faster, than later for me thankfully, even though I could hear someone snoring.

Somehow I had managed to get control of myself and come back to camp. It helped that the sky had clouded over and morning was on its way.

Chris had waited up for me, I don't think he wanted me to notice as he was sitting in his tent. But I noticed.

I crawled into my tent quickly before I felt sick again and went to sleep.

James

I woke up at some point near morning. I couldn't sleep anymore so I got out of my tent and noticed Kate sitting by the fire, which had burnt down quite a bit.

"Can't get any sleep huh?" I asked her.

She turned to me, she looked a little startled but quickly eased up.

"Nope. Looks like you can't either." she said.

"I've just had a pretty stressful day, you know plane crash and all." I sat down next to her.

Luis

He lay awake for what felt like an hour, hands clasped together behind his head. At first, he couldn't sleep because he was trying to figure out what his family was doing involved in this, and who could possibly be pulling their strings.

After half an hour of this, though, he became aware of a whispered conversation. He couldn't distinguish most of it, at most single words at a time. Words like 'Kids' and 'Plane'. Luis rolled over, thinking it must have been someone outside talking.

"...offering..." One of the voices whispered. Luis froze up, his ears pricking up. Had he heard that right? "...Unsure..." A whisper, he couldn't be sure if it was the same one. There was more that he couldn't pick up, and then, chilling Luis right to the core, "Sacrifice."

Luis squeezed his eyes shut and blocked out the whispering. After a long while, it finally, mercifully subsided, replaced with normal conversation from outside. He could hear James' voice.

"Can't get any sleep, huh?" He asked someone.

The voice that came back was Kate's and Luis felt - oddly - a pang of jealousy run through him. "Nope." Kate said, "Looks like you can't either."

Luis closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths. So far, none of the voices he'd heard in the night had been welcome ones.

I smiled slightly as James sat down beside me.

"Yeah,I can imagine how that feels..." He laughed slightly and we talked for a bit. He was in the middle of a sentence when someone yelled at us to shut up because some people were trying to get some sleep. We laughed a little, but then went to our tents.

Of course I didn't get much sleep. Whenever I dozed off something happened and I woke up again. there were all these weird noises and there was too much to think about.

Soon, I could see the sun rising. I stayed in my tent until I heard voices outside. That's when I came out.

Alexis and chris were both out taking out some of the provisions and making breakfast. I helped them and we served it together.

Someone came out and said:

"Mornin' everyone!"
(anyone can jump in)

Chis

I woke up first and I just kind of hung out until Alexis came out. She looked really pretty.

"Good Morning." She said. "You're not hungry then?"

"I am, actually." I said.

"Well, let's make breakfast then." She said.

And we did.It was fun. We got to actually talk about stuff. It was as fun as when we put up her tent. When we were almost finished, Kate joined us.I sort of regretted that, because it had been fun to be alone with Alexis, but I didn't let it on.

The sun had finally rose so I felt comfortable coming out of the tent. Plus I was starving.

Chris was sitting on a log when I came out. I smiled a little to myself. Chris was nice and easy to be around. It was a change to have someone I enjoyed being around.

We decided to make breakfast, which I actually was pretty good at since I usually cooked at my last foster home.

We talked about different things while we cooked. We basically talked about what we were doing before this incident and where we were from. We didn't talk about the crash and it hardly seemed like we were on a deserted island.

Kate joined us eventually. I was a little dissapointed. I didn't enjoy Kate's company as much as I enjoyed Chris'.

James

Kate and I had talked for a little while, but were eventually told to be quiet and sleep by someone in the tents. We laughed a little and went to our tents.

I slept soundly until voices outside and delicious breakfast smells woke me up.

I went to join the group and quite a few people were already out there.

Maeve

I had slept very well under the circumstances. Voices woke me in the morning, I went to join the group for breakfast.

"Mornin' everyone." I greeted.

"Hey there Maeve." James smiled.

"Yum breakfast." I said, noticing a plate of food on his lap.

"Here Maeve." Chris handed me a plate.

I immedeatly started eating. I guess I hadn't noticed how hungry I was. "So did all of the kids from the plane make it to the camp?" I asked.

Luis

He stretched as he left his tent, yawning loudly and glancing around the camp. The beach seemed to be littered with tents, spread out around a large central area where a few people were feeding more wood into the fire, trying to get it going again from the night before. It seemed that he’d overslept, and Chris, Alexis, James, Maeve and Kate had made breakfast already.

Luis made his way over to them and sat down on the sand, smiling, “Morning everyone, room for one more?”

Alexis nodded, handing him a plate, “It’s in the pan.”

Luis helped himself to some of the camping food that had been cooking in the frying pan. Not the kind of food he was used to, granted, but it was still pretty good. “How’d everyone sleep?” Luis asked, surreptitiously trying to check if anyone else had heard anything, even as he pretended to be wide awake.

Soon after breakfast we started making plans about today. We knew that Star, Comet, Jhoanne and Lindy were missing so we decided to organize a search party to find them.

" We should make sure WE don't get lost, while we're trying to find THEM." Chris said."'

"So how are we going to organize this?'James asked.

Everyone thought about it for a while.

I finaly spoke up.
"Well, we should keep the fire going, if we get lost, we should just follow wherever the smoke's coming from, so we don't get lost."

"Yeah, that means that someone should stay behind." Alexis said.

"Who wants to sat behind?'" Meave asked.

"Okay so we need two groups, people who stay behind and people who go for the search..."- Luis joined in.

Chris:

We had been discussing the way we would go about finding the missing people.
" I think, I'll go with the search party."Kate finaly said, after an awkward pause.
"Yeah, me too." I said.
We waited for the next person's opinion.

Although Camille had only warned him about staying out of the forest at night, he knew that meant it was probably still dangerous during the day. Even so, the smoke from the fire meant that there was less chance of getting lost.

Luis himself almost felt an obligation to go. He needed to learn more of this island, and moreover, he needed to make sure none of the others got themselves into any serious trouble.

"You can count me in." He said after a pause, "But I don't think we need as many people staying back on the beach, either. Two or three people should be able to cover that, that number's just so they don't get bored." He glanced around, "Do we want to split the search party up into smaller groups, or keep everyone together in one big one?"

I admit it, I was pleased Billy was joining the search party.
"Well, we're not sure whether they were together or not." Chris said. " Maybe we should split in two..."
"Yes, but then we're more vulnerable to danger."I said. "Because...I mean...well we don't know what;s out there , shouldn't we stick together?'

Chris

I considered what Kate said. She was right, to an extend. My face turned mocking:
"What's the matter Kate, too scared to go into the forest alone?
She looked at me angrily:
"Fine, I don't care. Let's split up, then." She said, angrily. She had a bit of a temper I noticed.
Alexis, James and Meave, were still unsure of where they wanted to be.
"Well, we'll give it a couple of minutes so we can cool down, but we need one of you guys to come along so we have two groups and then the other two can stay by the fire."-I said.

That guy, Luis, suggested forming a search party to find some of the others who were missing.

"I'll go." I volunteered. It sounded like a good chance for adventure.

Alexis and Maeve offered to stay behind to watch the fire.

"We should also use this as an opportunity to check out the island." I suggested.

Alexis

"I'll stay behind." I decided. Going into the jungle did not sound like a good idea for me. I didn't really know what that would do to me, all I knew was how I felt at night.

"I'll stay too, Alexis and I can bond." Maeve said, smiling at me.

Woo hoo, I thought to myself.

Maeve

"Ill stay behind with Alexis." I offered. I still felt achey and I didn't want to leave Alexis behind. "We can bond."

Alexis didn't seem to enjoy this idea too much. She looked at Chris as if she was willing him to stay too, but he didn't notice. He was just like any other guy, wanting to explore the jungle and have adventures.

He was already dead when i checked him the nexy day. He had died from his wounds when i checked him. I never noticed that he ahd a large wound by his side. It must have get infected somehow.

I buried him by the jungle and made a tiny marking before his grave. he is not the first person that isa w died. I've seen many. I've fell on my knees, clasp my hands and uttered a small prayer.

The camp was buzzing when i checked over the hill. People are beginning to adapt life here though i can see that tehre are those that are not yet used to such a tragedy. It did not bother me. I simply went back to my camp, exile, i call it and try to find a new lunch for me.

It looked like I was the only girl willing to go. Wow. Well, whatever, at least one girl had to go, anyway. I looked over at the guys and waited to find out how we would seperate the groups.

Chris

I was dissapointed that Alexis wouldn't come along. However, I tried to keep a bright face. I mean I got to explore the jungle! that sounded exciting.

"Right, so how will we seperate?" James asked.
