Hi. I'm new (just joined a few moments ago) and excited. I'm also slightly confused but I imagine it will dissipate eventually. I'm so excited to be part of a new young writer's site!
I am a recent member; as a matter of fact I just joined thirty-minutes ago. I joined mainly because I wanted to explore writing and literature, and perhaps provide a few short stories (Nothing major though). I love writing because it is the best form of self-expression; creative/ abstract writing is my favorite form of literature.
I have a few questions though: How do I get started? I want to write a few things every week and receive feedback. Where do I go? And how do I get myself recognized?
Skye: If you remain confused, feel free to send me a PM with any questions you have and I'll help you get on your feet. YWS is quite a large site so it can take a while to find your way around and get used to it, but there's plenty of people like me here to help you out
yasmine: You just got started! Making a post here is an excellent first step You can start by taking a look around or you can jump right in, it's up to you really, but a great part of the site to check out is the literary forums. You get there by clicking 'Discover Works' in the banner at the head of the site. That's where you post your work and where your feedback will come from. It's divided into the different sections, as you've probably already seen, so just post your writing in whichever's appropriate.
A good way to get recognised is by reviewing people and getting to know people. If you review, then people see your name around the site more and get familiar with it and then when browsing what works they'd like to review themselves, they'll often go for those of people they're familiar with. Or for friends. Sometimes talking to people in chat or the community forums and getting to know them will find you a few extra reviews as people always like to review their friends, particularly if they review back. It's a gradual process. In the meantime, if you drop me a pm when you've got something up, I'll gladly review it
Once more, a big welcome to everyone out there! If you have questions, feel free to pm me and I'll try to answer them!
Hey! Welcome new members (and myself. Why did I just welcome myself? Oh well.) I hope you like this site. I've been only for a day, and already I have a story, a blog and I'm following 2 people.
"I can't just GO to Pigfarts. It's ON MARS. You need a rocket ship. Do you have a rocket ship, Potter? You know, I bet you do. Oh, look, it's Moonshoes Potter, Starkid Potter, traversing the galaxy on intergalactic travels to Pigfarts!"
IHI means hi backwards, forwards, vertical, horizontal, and any other way and is pronounced by saying the individual letters, like so I H I. I came up with IHI as my thing, don't take it or I will send a scary monster after you ; D
This is less of a hello and more of a goodbye for I'm going to head over to the new InkPop.com (Harper Collins) that launched recently. Looks pretty cool and I love the new features the redesign has. But it was very nice interacting with you all, and you should check out the new site sometime. Bye.
I am a new member on the YWS site as well! I am very excited to be apart of this writing community and cannot wait to share my pieces with you all. You can call me dreamer or distant, whatever you prefer Looking forward to reading all of your work!
Hi! I'm just saying that I'm new, I litterally just joined about five minutes ago.
I hope to have some stories posted soon!
It isn't schizophrenia when you write about the voices in your head and get it published. That's talent. "I have figured out what C.E.O. stands for: It means Caveman, with an Ego, who is Obese." -Jase Robertson, Duck Dynasty
It's like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story. — Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind
