Hey!

Lillie: You don't have to rate your posts, you have rate your work! It should be there somewhere...... :P

PadrePio: Manila? Seriously? My parents were born in Manila! I've never been, but I'd love to go. :)

Xan: Hello, hello, hello! (sorry, I can't think of anything else to say. )
Help! I can't remember if I'm the evil twin or the good one!

Hello and welcome all to our re-built, magnificent home : The YWS.
I'm Shauni and it's a pleasure to have you here! :D
I'm sure you have already been introduced to the rules but a remimder never hurt anyone, right? ;)

*No caps and/or chatspeak.
*Rate your works according to what they are.
*Please keep a 2:1 ratio.

And also, don't forget our chatroom, just for our members. Sometimes it gets crazy "down there" when we free our writer's mind but we are always nice.
We have also the Groups we you can find *everything* that you can imagine on groups matters.

PM me if you need anything.

Have a great day! (:

Hello everyone,
I've got the 2:1 ratio down pat; I need no reminding :) I'm sure you all get tired of saying it.
I've critiqued quite a few things already, and asked others for critiques on my work, found a writing buddy and asked someone to be my mentor.
And I think I'm in love with this site.
It's truly amazing; you can never run out of things to do. The amount of members is a little daunting; but I hope to make some new friends here.
And I want to thank everyone I've encountered online so far; everyone has been hospitable and very, very, nice. I feel like I belong here.
But enough sentiment; all this saccharin is clogging up the keyboard. :)
Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart.

Hi I'm Fern Richards and me and my friend Simon are writing a book- We've nearly finished and there's a publisher interested! whoop!
As well as this, I am writing my own book, the Strangeness, and I'm doing my GCSE's this year (ok, so i've got a lot on...)
Anyway, I have read things on certain websites which annoyed me, about how "teenagers can't write, unless by accident". Thanks for that, I don't know who you are, but I'm mightily peed off about it. I know it's not likely we will make it big- the publisher we have contact with is quite small and based in Wales- but from little acorns, big squirrels grow. So, anyway, I'm going to post a few extracts of my story and maybe our collaboration too.

Hey Fern,
It's nice to meet you *shakes hand* I'm Dakota. I hang around the Fantasy Fiction most but sometimes I slip away to check out other stuff. *eyes flash deviously* Wow, that's awesome you have a publisher interested already! *claps hands excitedly* I'd love to read your "excerpts" when you get them posted. I'm not submersed in school terms and all, so I had a (probably dumb) question. * looks away sheepishly* What is your GCSE's? I live in the USA so maybe it's different here??? I also agree with you 100% about people thinking teenagers aren't able to write. HELLO! I mean our minds are fresher and with the time... no offense old people but your brains were born a long time ago... * nods knowingly* It's more like grown ups don't have the time to read teens stuff so they don't get the chance to see how much we rock! Good luck with your publishing experience. If you have any questions or need a friend feel free to PM me. *waves goodbye*

~Dakota

Hello! I'm Heartsleeves (feel free to call me Heather if you want to) and I've been writing since I could pick up a pencil. Sadly, I have a knack for starting things and never seeing them through, so I have a lot of stories that only have two pages on them. (Blame the AD/HD!) Which is why I bought myself a book on writing. (Ever heard of The Writer's Little Helper? That's the one.)

I agree with Fern down there. Whoever has been saying that teenager's can't write apparently has never heard of the website Teen Ink. Anyways, nice to meet everyone, and I can't wait to get writing!

Hiya!

Another Heather on the site! Mind if I just call your "Heart"? I don't think there's anybody else with that nickname (yet. Nicknames on YWS tend to get filled up quickly enough)

I haven't heard of the Writer's Little Helper. Which is odd, considering how many writing books I own. How is it so far?

A lot of people seem to have this habit. I find what works is imagining a good scene (preferably several) of a long project every time you're bored. Works well to engrain the story in your head, I find. ^_^

Just remember to read the rules on the posts above before you get going. :) Great to have you on YWS!

PM me if you need anything!

Hiya and welcome Thunder and Bluepetra!

Please make sure to read the rules at the top of the page or on the first page of this thread. :) Follow those and people will be very happy with you as you get to know the site!

Thunder- YWS is a great place for writers. ^^ I've been here a few months and have made some great friends, and improved my writing by leaps and bounds. I'm sure you'll be happy here! :D

Blue- I hope you don't mind me calling you that. :) YWS is a very good place to get motivation, especially if you post a story from the start. If people like it (and it's likely they will at one level or another) then they'll beg you to post more. That means you're on the hook for writing more!

Hope to see you two around the site!

Hey WritingWords,

I'm pleased to make your acquaintance. Welcome to YWS, and I'm sure you'll do great here.

Points are basically a YWS currency. You earn them by posting reviews and also in some of the subforums within The Writers' Corner beneath the "Writing Resources" tab at the top of the screen. These points are used to post in story books and for numerous other things such as calculating the Featured member.

As for how you post reviews, merely click "Read / Write" at the top of your screen, go through the forums and find a story you want to review. Click "Reply" beneath or above the post and you're on your way. :)

I hope that deals with all your questions. Enjoy your stay here. :)

Have a great one! ;)

Hi,

Hi Mythical! You should be glad, this site is amazing!

And Winter, hey! Basically, you get points for reviewing other people's work. The highest you can get for a review is 100 points. It then costs points to post your work, storybooks and to reply to a storybook. So you can only post your story/poem if you have enough points.
And yeah, grammar is pretty important! But don't worry, everyone here will shape you up in no time!
