So... I was told to come here by a friend who read a poem I posted. As most people probably have been when joining this site, I am completely and utterly lost. I don't really know the point of this message, so I guess I'm just making myself known

Hello everyone! I'm just feeling in the mood to greet some new poeple! I've only been here for a little while, but I already love this crazy family. I'm sure you'll all enjoy it. I've met so many amazing people and if you guys honestly have any questions there are so many enjoyable, knowledgable people on here that'll answer any question. Trust me, i've needed more than one answered!

Currently working on a novel at the moment and hopefully want to get it published once I've finished it.

Welcome to YWS.

It's great that you want to get a novel published, in fact there is a section in the litreature forums called Advanced Critiques, here you can put your novel on here for 500 points and people will help you with it.

Someone helped me with over 60 pages of mine

There are a free rules on YWS that we go by;


Arrow We have a ratio of 2 reviews: 1 piece of work, it just keep things fair

Arrow No swearing in your reviews, no one likes it especially the site moderators

Arrow Please reframe from graphic sex scenes, though light intimacy is fine

Arrow Give your work a rating depending on it's content (pg-13, R, g...ect)

Arrow Try to edit your work up to the best of your ability before you put it on here


There's tons of stuff to do and if you need help with anything you can always PM me with questions.

We have the 2:1 ratio, it just basically means review two other works before posting one of your own.

Please, no cursing in your reviews. You can do it in your work but please rate it.

Rate your work! If it has swears words, I'd do PG-13 to be on the safe side. And if it uses the "F" word or has sex scenes in it, "R" please.

Hi people. My name is Dominique and I'm a girl. I say that because well..some people think my name is a guys name and I'm like "Umm...OK? No you're wrong." LOL, anyways, I'm a writer, duhh, that's why I'm here.
I have written one book already. It's called Book One: Mya. I am working on the second book but I put it on hold. My computer was down for 5 months so I decided to write a new one. I am currently working on it. It's about Vamps, because they are awesome. It's like, about this family of vampires who read Twilight, and after reading it, they found similarities with them and the Twilight characters and use the Twilight names as their nick-name at home. But my take on how Vamps are is mostly, in some ways different from Stephanie Myer (who is an amazing author I might add) . I also write poems and well...yeah short stories. It's fun and that what I like to do in my spare time. LOL
But yeah. So I'm new and umm Hi-Ya! To everyone who reads this

Well, I'll tell you the obvious first. I'm female, and you can call me Jacinta or by my username, though I would probably respond to anything. I'm in highschool, which means that (for me at least) I will post quite often then I will go all of a sudden silent. Then I will come back, just, then disappear again. This is just me doing my school work and trying to study psychology, history, Latin, singing and my many varied intrests. I can't wait to get to know everyone, though at the moment I have several assignments which are due within the week so I will have to wait for holidays probably.

Hey all! I'm Xan (or you can call me by my username, I really don't care). I'm 15 (almost 16), a sophomore, and I live in the US. I write mostly short stories and novellas, but occasionally I'll write a poem or two. I don't generally subject people to my poems, but sometimes I make exceptions. I play soccer and field hockey and I drum...um...I'm an extremely fascinating person, as you can probably tell. I guess that's it.

Oh, and I'm kind of like Jocinta. I may disappear for a few weeks at a time. This generally means I remembered I have school and actually need to pass, or I've been grounded. So yeah. I'm a newbie and hi!
