Paul took a deep breath and they stepped through the door. Everything changed as if they had walked into a whole new world. Which he figured was the case. He felt Nyla tighten her grip on his hand. He looked down at her and smiled.

"I'm sure we'll be fine." He said to her.

"Who goes there?" A deep voice demanded. Paul tensed a little looking around for the person behind the voice.

"Paul and Nyla." He called back looking around.

"We have been waiting for you," the voice boomed. Nyla covered her ears she hated loud noices.

"Come out and show yourself then," Nyla demanded. "I hate hide and seek games, they seem cowardly if you ask me."

A squeak of protest erupted and a small little man stood before them.

"Ah, so you are Nyla and Paul," said the voice, more softly this time.

"Yes, yes," Nyla said irritated. "How many times do we have to confirm this?"

The man looked startled, "Follow me," he said simply.

Paul followed and grabbed Nyla's hand. She speed up to match his pace. "Listen here, I'm tired of people telling me what to do, and where to go. Stop and tell me whats going on this instant," Nyla angrily said.

The little man stopped to her surprise. He had actually listened.

"I'm sorry, this must be difficult," he apoligized. "My name is Rumpelstilskin. I'm the gatekeeper to this realm and protect it. I monitor who comes in and out. Right now I am taking you to the palace here. You will go before the Queen and they will tell you everything. Beyond this, I hold no answers."

Paul burst in a fit of giggles,"You mean, you're the little man in that fairy tale?"

He glared at Paul, "Stupid storytellers get it wrong every time. That girl forced me to spin gold, and that child was mine not hers. That baby was stolen."

Paul quickly stopped his laughter. They followed him until they saw the grand palace. Nyla gasped at the beauty of it.

"Beautiful, isnt it?" Paul whispered in her ear.

Nyla simply nodded.

Paul was surprised at the beauty oft eh place. He was still surprised that Rumplestilkskin esitsed and that the stories were all wrong. He followed the man up through the hallways their footsteps echoing loudly. He moved a tad closer to Nyla as she did him. He wasn't sure he would be excepted very well here, but he would get over that. He was there to help Nyla and help nyla he was going to do.

They stepped into a huge room where there were two people sitting in thrones at the other ends. They were anooced and beconded forward. He nearly gaped at the queen and king. They were perfect, every bit of them was perfect, not a flaw could be found on either.

Nyla could sence Paul's surprise.

She was also awestuck by the King and Queen. They were indeed flawless. The Queen's hair casaded down her back in golden locks. SHe made a barbie doll look ugly.
The King had brown hair that looked windblown, it added to his beauty. Each looked about six feet tall.

Glancing around the room, she saw the gothic arched domes, and crystrals seemed to hand in midair. Statues of equally beautiful people lined the walls.Lights flew around illuminating the room, that reminded her of fireflies.

Turning again, she faced the royal couple.

"Welcome Nyla, daughter of Gwenivere. You have been waited upon to arrive. We hope that you find yourself comfortable here and will view this as a decent home," boomed the King. "We wil make sure that this human will be one of the higher servants-"

"This man is not a servant, but my partner in this adventure. He has hlped me discover this place and part if my past. He will be treated with the same decency as I!"

Paul turned pale beside her.

the King looked like he had been slapped, but quickly recovered. "I apologize, we will harbor him in the room close to yours. You will find this acceptable, yes?"

Nyla nodded. She still had no idea what was going on, but she knew that she must hold considerable power, for the royalty to give her anything that she wanted.

Paul let his breath out when the king agreed with her. He knew he wasn't about to be a servant.

"How about you both settle down and relax, we will explain everything over dinner." The queen smiled beconing a servant. The servant lead them to two separate rooms that had another room adjoing both. Paul walked around his room. It was amazing, homey, and anything else that it could possibly be. He laid back on the bed and nearly fell asleep. It was so comfortable. He got up and went to the adjoining room and walked around it. It was nice too, kinda like one of those rooms in rich old houses that was used as a parlor. He sat in one of the chairs and leaned forward surveying the area. Nyla walked in and smiled at him.

"It's perfect here, isn't it. I mean everything that is here. It's like everything was prepared fro us before we got here. To match our likes." She sighed walking around the room.

"It is amazing, I mean all this must cost a fortune back home. I don't know hw they do things aroud here so I'm not sure. But it is very nice." He replied with a smile.

A servant popped in, human. They walked out together. Paul slung his arm carelessly around Liona's shoulder. She noticed that the servant flinched.

"What is it?" Nyla asked curiously.

"Humans and faeries are not friends around here Nyla Faerie. Humans are faerie slaves. You are an oddity," she turned to Paul. "I wouldn't make her mad, she is your only ally here. As soon as she feels the need to rid of you, they will oblige happily."

Nyla and Paul turned pale as they said it. Nyla looked around to see that indeed that most of the people running around, the servants, were human.

She turned to face the servant girl. She looked about sixteen years of age, Nyla noted with surprise. Nyla herslef was only one and twenty. The girl was beautiful by her standards. Golden hair glistened down her back. Pale blue eyes peeped shyly from her hair. There wasn't a blemish on the girl.

"What is your name child?" Nyla asked.

"My name is Ashley," she said with a slight bow. She turned her head emotionessly foward

Paul was shocked by how the humans were almost as perfect as the fairies. He didn't say anything abgout it though. He would need to be on his best behavior here, who knew what would happen if he wasn't.

"The dinning room is this way." Ashley said as they got to two huge doors. She pulled them open and Paul nearly gaped at the huge room, the table was huge and there was food of all kinds on it. The room was decorated just as perfectly as the rest of the castle and nothing was out of place. Not a single bit of dust anywhere. This place was kept amazingly clean. He glanced at different parts of the room, in awe.

"It's amazing." Nyla whispered. He nodded nto quiet able to speak yet.

"Welcome." The queen thrilled in her pefect voice. It was a tad to high for his liking though. "I hope you are hungry, our servants prepaired a wonderful meal."

"I'm sure that it is as delicious as it tastes," Nyla said recovering.

The Queen nearly smiled. Nearly.

"I have decided that since we are here, I will explain your presence. Don't let this surrounding area fool you. The kingdom is in bad shape. Human rebels go against our faeries everyday. They have allied with the dragons and elves. The rebels think that they are above serving us. You are the Warrior Queen. Essential for us to win this battle.

"It is said that the scale will tip on whatever side you fight. Of course, I knew that you would choose us. When we win this battle you will be the heir to this throne. My daughter, your mother, passed it up. It skipped a generation, so natually, it belongs to you," she flashed me a big grin.

"It's time for you to put the humans in their place. Starting with that man you call Paul. Warriors, seize him," the queen said with malious.

Statues moved towards Paul. Nyla snatched up his hand and they started running. Footsteps pounding behind them. Both were a deathly white.

"This way," Nyla said as they were running, "there is an exit this way. It will be risky, but please trust me. Do you?"

"Yes," he replied. Nyla concentrated and ran, hand in hand with Paul, out the third story glass window.

Paul held her hand a tad tighter as they ran out the window, they kept running though, they didn't fall. When they got to the ground they didn't stop. He was glad he had stayed in shape or there was no way he would be able to keep up. When they got to the covering of some woods they stopped and looked behind them. No one was following.

"Guess we might as well have not brought anything with us." He said bringing his breathing back to normal. She chuckled.

"That's the first thing you worry about? Our stuff, not the fact that you were about to be grabbed by stone stautes?" She laughed.

"Eh, stone statues are always after me." He teased. "Faeries, now that is a new one."

"I can't believe this, I'm sure my mother knew about it too!" She said crossing her arms.

"Probably, she tried to warn me, remember?" He shrugged. "No harm done. Now what do we do?"

"Lets go check out the Rebel forces, I wonder if they would take us in," said Nyla.

Paul nodded his head, "They are certainly friendlier I would hope," replied Paul.

"I'm sure that if we look, we can find them. Maybe-"

Nyla quickly slapped her hand over his mouth and put a finger to her lips. A look of brief surprise flashed over his face before he understood.

"I think they found us," she said as the footsteps stopped behind them. They both turned around to face the oddest bunch of people they had ever seen.

Paul:

Paul looked the people over that stood in front of him. The leader crossed his arms and looked them over. Paul stepped protectivly in front of Nyla.

"A human and a faerie." The man said. "What are you doing out here?"

"Looking for the Rebal forces." Paul offered.

"You found us, well some of us. What do you want?" The man asked.

"I'm Paul, this is..."

"Nyla, warrior princess." the man replied. "I know who she is."

Nyla wasn't surprised. She knew that the Rebels would know who she was. Everyone did apparently.

"We are here to join up. I was told that you needed some numbers of people," said Nyla sad said as she sidestepped from behind Paul.

A grin stretched over the leaders face, "Come along then, you need to hed to camp. First though, we need to tie this on. I know that you won't like it, but we have to keep a tight security."

Nyla nodded her head and took the black cloth from his hand. Paul took his also and they tied each others blindfold. A woman that had stood silently behind the leader took her hand and led them through the forest. Onwards towards their new allies.

Peter wasn't so sure of the blindfold, but it wasn't that he didn't trust these people, it was more of the fact taht he didn't trust himself walkign through the woods blindfolded. When the blindfolds were finally taken off he walked over to Nyla looking around.

"It's beautiful out here." He said looking around. They were in a perfect feild that had several tents everywhere. There were people everywhere.

"Follow me." The guy said leading them towards the tent in the middle of the incampment. "YOu need to meet our leader."

"So how many times did you stumble on the way over here? I lost count after the fifth time you tripped," Nyla teased.

Paul grumbled, but smiled after he saw that Nyla was playing around. "I can't help it that I don't have an abnormal talent for balance. I'm only human after all."

Nyla let out a peal of laughter, and the Leader turned around to look at them with an odd expression on his face. Paul joined ni the laughter, and soon, most of the people in the party were snickering.

"You know Paul, only a few days ago, I was saying that about my deadline. How fast things change. Yesterday, I was complaining how my publisher wouldn't back off. Now, I'm in a magical land of creatures I have never dreamed were real. I wonder if this hasn't all been a dream."

Paul nodded his head in agreement. He turned to look at Nyla. He felt a connection to her. It was like a ribbon tieing him together. Now, he couldn't imagine life without her. It was ridicous that he had only known her for a week, and felt this way.

When things settled down, well, he was thinking to far ahead. He didn't even know that much about her past. He laughed at hiself. He did know her past, he had been hired to find it. He had scoured every file that she had written on her life.

Nyla met Paul's eyes and smiled. He was definately the one. Love at first sight. It was if they had been made for each other. She felt guilty for all the things she had cost him. Undoubtfully, he had a good career, a family... she sighed. Nyla had pulled him from his sister, and mother. All she could give him was her heart.

Paul wrapped his arm around Nyla's shoulders as he waited to see what would happen next. Several different people gave them surprised looks at the obvious connection between the two.

"What's the history to all of this?" Paul asked.

"Several hundred years ago a human stumbled into a portal to this place no knowing what it was. Faeries quickly snatched him up at first they worshiped him thinking he was the only one of his kind. But when a faerie decieded to go into the portal and found out there were more humans they decided they would serve better as servants to the faeries then they would as gods. So they quickly sent several different beautiful women into the portal having found mans weakness for beauty and brought them through the portal. Years went on and these men would die. Leave no more servants. So the next time the faeries went through the portal they brought back both male and female humans so that they could have children and the faeries would never run out of servants." The leader took a deep breath and continued. "About two years back some of us started thinking that this wasn't fair, we knew about the portal, but we couldn't get near it. It was guarded with every magic possibel and the queen even put her daughter on teh other side of it when her daughter refused to take over the thrown. This war was profisized. There was always one undeciding factor. The warrior princess."

"That's me, right?" Nyla asked.

"Yes, you are supposed to have powers beyond wonder. But some of them you may never learn to tap into. Others are quiet simple, normal faerie things." The leader smiled.
