The Searchers

We'll worry about the plot later. Please post character profiles. Include basic information about their appearance and what it is that they are searching for. Also include character strengths and weaknesses, interests, and whatever else you feel is necessary for other authors to know in order to portray your character perfectly.

I'm thinking this will be of the fantasy genre.

Sounds interesting, let me see... about time I had another male character I think.

Name= Daniel Redding

Age= 29

Gender= Male

Appearance= Daniel is tall with tanned skin, short, chestnut hair and dark brown eyes. He's got an athletic body and dresses in brown canvas trousers, brown riding boots and an unbuttoned, white shirt. He's not the best looking guy around but he's better than average and has had high success with the female species over the years.

Race= Human but under a curse that means if he doesn't find the perfect kiss before he's thirty something terrible will happen to him. The caster of this curse wasn't very specific about what but Daniel is pretty sure that it will be absolutely horrific, especially after what he said to her. There's quite an amusing story behind it actually and one that Daniel is fond of telling in order to persuade people to kiss him.

Searching for= The perfect kiss.

Personality= Daniel is charming, romantic and very friendly but he's also obsessive, especially about wasting time. Daniel has just under a year left and while he generally comes across as relaxed, he is starting to feel very stressed and worried.

Interests= Mostly girls though he has kissed a few boys during his quest for the perfect kiss. In general, when he finds a group of people he hasn't met before, he travels with them for a few days and then leaves when he has induced each one to kiss him, usually starting with the pretty girls but he will take any kiss he can get. In fact, as he gets more and more desperate, Daniel has even considered kissing animals though he has yet to try it.

Abilities= Daniel can ride a horse, can fight with a sword, can play both the flute and the harp, can juggle, can sing and has dedicated his life to charming the ladies. He can write, mostly song lyrics and music, he can swim, he can run and he's a fast learner. He's fulfilled many challenges over the years to win kisses from beautiful women and rich father's daughters. In fact, he's getting pretty good with a bow though he doesn't carry one around with him.

Belongings= Daniel wears a sword in a decorative scabbard, both adorned with Celtic symbols, that rests in a plain, brown belt around his waist and owns a horse (black stallion) which carries two saddle bags containing blankets, changes of clothes, soap, shampoo, first aid kit, comb, food, water, hand mirror, calendar, diary, pens, note book, harp, flute etc. It's actually very surprising just how much he can fit in them.

Name: Chloe Jennings (C.J. to her close friends)

Gender: Female

Age: 22

Race: Human, but she was once a witch. Her magic was stolen by a Trixter (someone/thing that likes to steal and can alter reality) so now she must get it from him. (The trixter's name is Shane)

What she is searching for: Her magic

She carries herself with good posture and there is an air about her when she walks. She usually wears her hair down around her shoulder and strappless dresses in rich greens, pinks, lavenders, and blues. Blue is her favorite because it matches her eyes.

Personality: She has never been good at getting close to people and is afriad of letting people get close to her because she doesn't want to get hurt. When she was a witch she wasn't the most loveable of people but to her friends and family she was kind and loving. Since her magic has been stolen by Shane she has begun to push people away and found herself alone and not in the best of moods.

Abilities: When she had her magic she could do a lot of things, and she almost needed it for most of the things she did. Now she is having a hard time just getting by without her magic, her search is proving to be quite difficult and is only getting harder since she refuses to ask for help. She has always been a good shot with a bow and arrow and can persuade people to do things for her.

Interests: Right now her biggest interest is finding her magic and inflicting major pain on Shane. Most of her life revolves around magic and she loves experimenting and finding new things to do with her magic. She wants to advance her knowlege of the magical world.

Belongings: She has a small cottage in the woods a few miles away from town although she isn't there much anymore because of her search for her magic. She has a demon (animal that represents her personality and follows her around) which she has had since she was born, though she is not sure why. Her demon takes the form of black footed ferret and they can talk to eachother, his name is Markie.

Strengths: She can catch onto things fairly quickly. Also she is a good fighter especially when she has a bow and arrow, and she can make good decisions quickly. When she is not building a wall around her heart she can be a really good friend.

Weaknesses: She is having a hard time doing things without her magic, and is fairly vulnerable to all magical attacks. She also pushed people away and is afraid to let others in. Which is mostly due to the fact that the last person she let in stole something valuable from her.

Other: She is up for love if anyone wants to try to break her, she really wants to be one of those open, kind, easily befriended people, she just can't. She is too afraid of what might happen, of who might hurt her.

This sounds cool.

Name: Artemis Storm

Gender: Female

Age: 21

Race: A witch whose powers are unknown to her.


Appearance: Is about 5'6'' with long raven black hair. Green eyes, tannish skin tone. She has an athletic body and she usually dresses in jeans and T-shirts to blend in with crowds.

Searching For: Where she comes from

Personality: Is very firm and doesn't take no for an answer. Sometimes, she can be as sweet as a pie but that's only if you're a handsome guy who she's fallen madly in love with.

Fears: She fears that if she gets too close to anyone it would hurt them if they found out who she was.

Weaknesses: Chocolate, cute guys, and the fact that she's blind.

Strengths: Her eyes are one of her strengths even though they are one of her weaknesses because they help her to see who people really are.

Interests: She loves reading and writing and listening to music.

Abilities: Can detect lies very easily and can see people for who they really are with her eyes. Also, she can fly and she can cast certain spells when she's angry. When she's sad it storms.

Background: Was abandoned when she was a baby. She grew up in an orphanage but then when she discovered she had these powers she knew she had to find somewhere for herself. Ever since then, she's been by herself, hoping to find who she really is and what her purpose is.

Name: Fayne [last name unknown]

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Race: Elf

Appearance: Fayne is tall and slender, having the appearance of one who eats little. He is around 6'2", and about 140lbs. He regularly wears all black, concealing clothing, hiding scars, and a back covered in black ink tattoo's. He wears a black hooded robe at all times, the hood covering his eyes, which are scarlet in color.

Searching for: His love's soul

Personality: Cynical and deceiving. He keeps to himself and prefers not to let anyone grow close to him. Fayne has the tendancy to ignore his heart and feelings, and only use his mind.

Abilities: Fayne is very agile and quick-witted. He studies his enemies before making an attack, attempting to decipher their weaknesses so he knows where to strike. He has the ability to change into other creatures, but does not often do it as it leaks his power and makes him vulnerable. He wields 2 long blade swords.

Strengths: Fayne is a great swordsman. He has a strong mind, and a loving heart, when he chooses to use it.

Weaknesses: Fayne does not let people grow close. He distances himself to keep from getting hurt, or hurting others. His biggest weakness is his hidden past. He is paranoid to sudden movement, rarely sleeps, and has the tendancy to be hot headed.

Interests: Animals.

Background: Fayne's parents gave custody of him over to his great aunt and uncle after birth, as they had not wanted a son. He was raised harshly, frequently fighting or getting beaten. He was used as a stable boy, caring for the horses. His only companion, Scuro, is a black stallion he cared for. Fayne ran away from his 'home' at around the age of 15, and has been wandering since.

Gender: Female

Age: 20

Race: witch

Searching for: her soulmate

Personality: an attention grabber and always positive. She is a quick thinker and quick to recover. She doesn't really think about hurting people when she does. She befriends/ falls in love easily, so don't be surprised if she suddenly hurts you.

Abilities: she can do normal spells like any witch and she is also an Animagus (those of you who haven't read the Harry Potter books, it's a person that can turn into a certain animal based on what their personality is.). She is a fox:

Strengths: she's pretty good with her spells and heals quickly.

Weaknesses: she has enemies because of her constant dumping to find her soulmate and of course, she is extremely curious and loves adventure so she finds herself in trouble a lot.

Interests: boys, adventure, coffee.

Background: she has believed that everyone has a soulmate in life and must find them without wasting time on others, ever since one of her nannies planted that into her head when she was about 7. She mostly spent her time with babysitters and nannies because her parents worked through most of the day and didn't come home until late at night. She has also learned that befriending is good as long as you don't get too attached to people because they never seem to stick around long.

Name: Carrier James

Gender: Female

Age: 22

Race: Ghost that wonders^-^(She was a princess form a distant land until she disappeared and never came back) (Disappeared at age 18 )


Appearance: She used to have green eyes, blond hair, and fair skin. Now she is pure white and is stuck for now in this state.

Searching For: Her true form (her original body)

Personality: Very light hearted and cheerful at times but very down at others (usually when she's alone, or when she thinks she's alone...)

Fears: She fears that if she is truly found out for what she is she will disappear and never be able to come back to this world of creatures.

Weaknesses: Being anywhere near guys. They'll mistake her for a hauntling and try to banish her away from everything. Girl's are another story all together. They wouldn't come near her.

Strengths: She can sense good in any soul and bring it out even if it's buried deep inside.

Interests: Wandering through the woods unnoticed(usually)

Abilities: Going through walls even though she's also solid. People can touch her, if they truly believe they can touch her.

Background: She doesn't have much of a background at all. Her parents died just before her disappearance and everyone believed that she ran away from herself and her duties. It was truly son=me witch that cast this spell on her. Her body lies somewhere unnoticed. Somewhere unseen. Somewhere untouched.

Name: Tristan Perce

Age: 27

Race: Shadow. A shadow is a being that is often mistaken for a ghost. It has a solid form, though it can dissolve its body into a substance similar to smoke with ease. The stronger the will of the Shadow, the longer it can remain without solid form. The average Shadow can stay in such a state for about a minute and a half, and is still vulnerable to attack. When in solid form, the Shadow can take as many identities as it pleases until it turns nine, then it is restricted to one, though its final form can be whatever age it pleases. It is near impossible to determine the age of a Shadow.

Gender: Takes the form of a male.

Searching For: His past.

Appearance: Tristan takes the form of a twelve year old boy. He stands at 5' 5" and weighs close to 100 lbs. He is thin with curly brown hair and multi-colored eyes. The left is blue, the right is a milky white. He has tanned skin and a scar circling his right eye. His clothing is mix-matched and depends on his mood that day.

Personality: Tristan is aggressive and stubborn and has a strong will. He has a hard time making friends due to his inability to trust easily. He can be sarcastic and cynical at times, though at others he can be more thoughtful and quiet. His mood swings often and unexpectedly. People have compared his personality to that of a dwarf's.

Strengths: Tristan has a strong will, and can thus hold his shadow form for longer than the average Shadow. He can also wield almost every weapon effectively, though prefers the dagger or bow and arrow. He can run fast and is a natural climber.

Weaknesses: Tristan has a tendency to rush into things without thinking. He also has a sharp tongue which gets him into trouble more often than not. And due to his small form, he isn't very strong.

Interests: He can play a few instruments and can sing, though it takes a lot of persuasion to get him to do either for you. He is fascinated by fire.

Background: He can't remember anything from before he was twenty-four except for a few images that he can't make sense out of. Since then, all he's been doing is searching for his past or someone who can help. He wanders and never stays in one place for too long. He is often plagued by nightmares about his past that he can never remember upon waking, and so he doesn't sleep much. He is also blind in his right eye.

Race- Human

Weapon- Katana 5 feet in length worn across his back. stands about 5'10

Searching for- His father

Personality- Offensive. He takes things rather personally and has trouble forgiving people. He will rub off on people the wrong way and sometimes feels bad about it, but will never admit it. He has a hard head and isn't easy to persuade.

History- Him and his father used to be blacksmiths. Before that his father was a knight. 8 years before the present date his father was abducted for reasons unknown. Zack has been been looking for him ever since. The sword he wields was the last one his father ever made.

Strengths- His sword skills are second to none. He has incredible strength to wield such a weapon and can move rather fast despite how heavy it must be.

Weaknesses- Defence against magic and arrows is weak to null existent. Everything is in his sword.

I'd like everyone to read this little piece on character flaws. It is very good advice concerning character profiles and entertaining to read as well.

Some profiles are missing the weakness portion of the bio. This is especially important.

I'm not sure about the ghost character, simply because a ghost is pretty much invulnerable to physical attacks.

As you look at the other profiles, think about how your character is going to interact with the other profiles and how they'll meet. If you don't know how it will work for one character, then you don't have much to worry about. If, on the other hand, you're not sure how your character will fit in with any of the other characters, then you should consider editing your profile.

Just a comment, may join if I can think up a worthy character: While ghosts cannot be harmed by normal physical attacks, they also cannot harm others with physical attacks. a drawback, no? They are, however, vulnerable to magic weapons and magical attacks. Furthermore, ghost are quite vulnerable to anyone who wields holy magic. I think the weaknesses far outweigh any strengths she might possess, of which I can't think of any.

Name: Jeremy Stork

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Appearance: Jeremy is tall and lanky. His skin is pale, a side effect of spending too much time in libraries and school. He wears the green robes of a new mage. His hair is brown, short, and unkempt. His eyes are a dull blue. He is very bland. When he moves, he moves quickly, so fast that his robes will probably get in the way. He is a very awkward person and his body language reflects that.

Weapons: None, he casts magic with his hands.

Searching for: For the past thirteen days he has been seeing this beautiful woman in his dreams. He is searching for her.

Personality: The key word is awkward. He speaks rarely and when he does speak, it is usually at the wrong time or about the wrong subject. When he is just talking to one person, he can be quite fluent and at ease. Put him with a group of people, or with a person that doesn't respect him, and you'll see him become awkward very quickly.

Not that he can't speak to people, he can do this very well. He just can't hold a conversation with normal people that well.

On the plus side, he is a very good listener. If your character likes talking, then he'd be the only person willing to listen for hours at a time. Sometimes he'll ask questions, just to see how long he can have the other person speak.

Strengths: He is a very talented mage. He was the class valedictorian amd is extremely proficient in magic. The strength of his magic depends entirely on how well he can concentrate. If your character is an extremely attractive female with revealing clothing, then he will be at a great disadvantage.

Weaknesses: In addition to the inability to connect easily with others, he is terrified of death. The sight of blood alone will make him queasy and the sight of his own blood, even the slightest prick, will put him into a panic. A cut would probably cause him to faint.

If he saw a vampire drinking a cup of blood, it would probably cause him to vomit profusely. He does not like blood. So, if you want to make him very uncomfortable, put him in an operating room.

Also, he doesn't like sharp things. Not just swords, but knives, needles, axes, broken shards of glass, nearly anything with an edge. If someone pulls out a sword, he will back away from it further than necessary. If he butters his bread, he'll do it with a spoon. He will not use sharp instruments unless he literally has to.

History: As a young man, he was out chopping wood, when the axe missed the log and went into his leg. He made a full recovery, but the event traumatized him. His father was a mage, so he was sent to school. He found magic to be amazing and fun. He immersed himself in it, completely ignoring the world outside.

With the arrival of the dreams, he is now leaving the magic halls on this search for the girl of his dreams.
