Teenagers

Kaleb:

Kaleb smiled and ndoded. "Just tell me where to go, and I'll go." He laughed. He turned the radio on low and started to sing to the song that was on it.

"Your in a good mood." She laughed, he nodded in agreement.

"All I need is sitting next to me." He smiled at her. "I love you."

Sybyla

I paused, my heart clenched all the way up to my throat. I couldn't breathe. If I could though I was sure I would be hyperventilating. What was the big deal about this then? I knew we loved each other. But it was just hearing the words for the first time in my life did something to me.

"Syb?" he said questioningly, no doubt my thought process showed on my face. "Are you okay?"

I took a deep breath and looked at him, "I love you too."

Kaleb:

Kaleb looked at her for a second longer before looking back at the road. Had he said something wrong? Had he upset her? He couldn't be sure. He chewed on the inside of his lower lip thinking. What could be going through her head. Suddenly he was very curious. He wasn't sure if he wanted to be though. He wasn't really sure about anything. Anythign that is except that he loved her and couldn't live without her.

*tears*

Sybyla

Slowly I relaxed, I doubted that I would ever get used to being told that I was loved. He looked nervous like he was afraid of something...

"Are you okay?" I asked nervously.

"I'm fine," he assured me, but I didn't buy it.

"Maybe I should drive, you don't look okay."

Kaleb:

"I'm fine." He forced a smile making it go to his eyes and look realistic. "You just seemed a little taken back. I didn't know if I said somethign wrong or not." He let his eyes focus on her's for a second. "I couldn't live without you Syb. Ever."

Sybyla

My throat clenched again but I fought against it. "I-I..." I could feel the tears coming out of my eyes. "Nobody's ever said anything like that to me before."

He saw my tears and pulled over so he could pull me into his arms and stroked my hair. Apparently he didn't quite know the depth of my dad's abuse. Before two seconds had passed I was sobbing.

"Y-y-you have n-n-no i-i-i-dea how much I love you." I stammered. "And not just b-because you love me too."

"I know Syb I know," he said and held me tighter.

"I'm so afraid," I murmered.

"Of what love?"

"Of this," I said, "of this ending actually, and I'm afraid my dad might find me."

"Is this about your dream?"

I nodded against his chest. "I'm still not ready to talk about it though."

He kissed my hair, "alright." We scooted over back to the drivers seat so he could drive and still not let go of me.

"I love you," I said once I was done crying.

"I love you too."

Kaleb:

"I'll take care of you, love, I promise. I won't let anyone take you from me, ever." He kissed her softly on the head then looked back at the road.

We stopped at a gas station to pick up stuff from lunch. I used the oppertunity to use the bathroom and wash my face. When I looked in the mirror I couldn't really explain it but I looked different. I looked...alive.

I felt alive...

That was how I knew I was really in love with Kevin.

I had never felt or looked alive before.

Kaleb:

Kaleb grabbed some lunch food and some drinks that he stowed away in the cooler for later along wiht the food for lunch. He got some chocolate bars too. His parents would probably still give him money even if he was gone. He smiled. He had it to easy. he would get a job once htey figured out if they wanted to stay put or anything. When he saw Syb he smiled.

"Ready to go?" he asked.

"Yup." there was something about her smile. She seemed happier. He was glad.

Sybyla

We walked away from the counter with our arms around each other, "So I'd been thinking," I began, "maybe once we get far enough away we could stay." I looked up at him, I knew that eventually he would be sick of the road, just like me.

He smiled down at me, "I was just thinking the same thing."

We climbed into the truck and made sandwiches on top of the detached cooler lid as we plotted out the rest of our lives. I only had two stipulations to any of the plans:

I had to be with him.

and

We had to be away from my dad.

Kaleb:

"So, we find your mom, then you want to stay near her, or keep moving until we find a place we love?" He asked smiling softly and looking into her eyes. He bit into his sandwhich savoring the flavor. "It's up to you, love."

I smiled at him, and thought a bit. I loved my mom, but I didn't want to be near her. Not when my dad could so easily contact her and find where we were.

"Lets go away from material things," I suggested, "where we can be whatever we want."

Kaleb:

"What do you mean? Like have no contact with our parents at all?" He asked. "I"m confussed."

Sybyla

I shrugged, "I just meant somewhere were we weren't expected to be anything." I took another bite of my sandwich. "Where we can be us and nobody else if we want."

"Oh." He still looked confused.

"It was just a thought," I clairified.

Kaleb':

"And a good one at that. We will visit your mom then disappear." He smiled taking another bite.

"What about your parents?"

"They won't care that I"m gone. " He smiled. "I'm their baby boy, anything I do is for the good.;" He laughed.
