*how can we get every one to meet up?*

Kai-

He wandered through the campus grounds Kii resting on his shoulder. Other students were showing up now, some clearly from higher years. There were even one or two people like him with animal parts. People who had tried shifting without permission and hadn't made it back fully.

The school was a very different place then where he had grown up. The city the academy was in was situated on a plane. The only thing remotely like home was the forest behind the school. To Kai who was used to the deep forests, wide never ending tunnels, and snow planes of mountainous Tohra. It was hard to believe people could live in such a wide open place.

Bella

After getting my few possessions situated, I realized that the chances of anything exciting happening in this room were slim to none. It had been silent apart from the exchanging of greetings. So I put my daggers, all five of them, securly into their sheaths on my ankles and waists, sticking the extra skillfully into my hair (which was pulled up into a bun), and then I left.

I began walking around campus, hoping but knowing it was unlikely, to see someone I knew. Not paying attention to where I was walking, I expectantly tripped over something.

"Oof," someone else said as I tumbled into him and we both fell to the ground. He broke my fall, but I made a fool of myself by falling on him.

"I"m sorry," I said, sitting up and moving off of him. I gasped as I saw his face. "Jorge!"

*To sylvester's question, maybe there could be some sort of assembly in the night or next morning?*

Acelyn was lost.

The complex of buildings that was the main part of the academy academy had her confused as she wasn't very used to being in urban areas. She had previously always been on the move, travelling in the country. Staying put in this city would be a diffrent experiance indeed.

Suddenly, her senses flared and she quickly drew a long knife and slahed the air behind her. To her surprise, it was only a small boy with silver hair and fox ears and tail; likely attained from a shifting incident.

"Cool, how did you do that?" he asked, seemingly oblivious to the fact that his arm was bleeding lightly.

"I learned," Acelyn replied. "Here, let me sort that out."

She bent down to him and traced a finger over the open cut, sealing it as she went. Acelyn felt slightly out of breath as soon as she had finished. Even a small cut like that would tax her. That was why she needed proper training.

"Thanks for that, maybe I shouldn't have sneaked up on you," replied the boy. "My names Kai by the way. And this is my familiar Kii."

"Hi Kai, I'm Acelyn, and it's probably my fault for overreacting. You wouldn't happen to knwo where our rooms are do you?"

(EDIT: Sorted hair, my bad.)

*good idea, lets say at sunset. and Kai's hair is silver not blue*

Kai-

He grinned at Acelyn. "Well, I know where the boys dorms are, but not the girls. But I think the girls dorms are in the building next to them. Come on, I'll show you." He turned around and showed her they way through the grounds. The campus was huge, and it would be easy to get lost at first. So Kii jumped down and led the way, following Kai's scent trail.

It was just past noon when they finally found the dorms.

Alexey-

Alexey strolled across the lawn, observing other as they greeted each other with smiles, girls were giggling and talking as fast as they could, while boys were laughing and jumping around. A whole cast of animals roamed between them.

He could easily pick out any freshman, they were scattered about, mostly admiring the grounds or looking confused. None of them seemed to know each other.

Delilah was rapped around his shoulders, watching the smaller rodent familiars running through the grass. He stroked her, and looked around for anyone who might help him figure out what was going on.

A girl and boy stood by one of the dormitories. The boy was small, with a grey set of fox ears on his head and a long flowing tail behind him. The girl was taller and had wispy brown hair.

Alexey headed toward them, nervously. He had hardly ever talked to anyone outside of his class before.

When he reached them he held out his hand confidently.

“Hello, I’m Alexey.”

They both looked at him, a little baffled. Then the boy took his hand and shook it excitedly.

“I’m Kai, and this is Kii.” He said, indicating the small fox by his side.

Alexey nodded and held his hand out to the girl. She seemed timid, but placed her hand in his.

“Acelyn”

He kissed her hand.

“So, do either of you know when the orientation assembly is?”
Unless I had to
I'll do what I got to, the truth

And with my one last gasping breath
I'd apologize for bleeding on your shirt -TBS

[Ray]

She had been keeping herself to herself for now and was starting to wonder when the assembly was when she overheard a conversation.

“So, do either of you know when the orientation assembly is?” The boy was laid back but she could tell he was used to getting his own way. A Royal, she thought instantly.

"Yeah, I think it's in about five minutes, over in Main Hall."

"Shall we go then?"

She stopped listening and petted the eagle on her shoulder.

"Um, excuse me..." a boy stood in front of her, he had curly black hair and a dragon was curled around his neck.

"Yes?" She said, a little warily.

"Um, I was wondering if you knew where the assembly was?"

She smiled "I do now. You can come with me if you want."

"Thanks. I'm Jarra by the way, Jarra Fin."

"Ray. Just Ray." She smiled and they made their way towards the Main Hall along with the other new students.

Acelyn

As soon as they began to leave, Acelyn felt a familiar tug on her mind. A moment later, there was a flap of wings, and a familiar weight on her shoulders. Kai and Alexey looked startled. However, it was clear that Kai's was merely from surprise, whereas Alexey's was from apprehension.

"Is that crow your familiar?" he asked. Acelyn's heart sank. Why did it always have to be like this? She nodded.

"But they're bad luck, messengers of ill tidings," said Alexey. "You do know what they say about them as familiars, don't you?" Acelyn flushed.

"I need to put my bags down, I'll see you soon," she said and walked away. Her pace gradually quickened and she was soon running, her head down. Craw made a sharp noise on her shoulder.

Don't worry Craw, you don't have to apologise, she thought. A moment later, she found herself running headfirst into two girls as they left the girl's building.

Kenra---

Kenra barely caught herself before she fell. She looked at the girl in front of her. "Sorry." She muttered.

Acelyn,

Slightly dazed, Acelyn looked at the girls she had run into.

"Sorry," said the one with reddish hair. She looked slightly annoyed.

"No, it's my fault. I should have looked where I was going. I'm Acelyn, are you new to this place too?"

*wow, I just got back on the computer and this thing's three pages long already. Best get going. ;-)*

name-Calyn (Kal-in), no formal last name. PLEASE do not call her anything except Calyn.

age-13 (a few days before she left home for the Academy)

gender-female

cast- Peasant, so she know how to work hard and doesn't put on airs or think she's superior to anyone

homeland- Restehna

appearance- Hair: hip-length, usually down her back in two smooth ropes. Rarely, she wears it down as in the picture. usually is the impossible shade of gold, but sometimes she changes it (don't ask me how, she just does).
Eyes: usually the blue in the picture, but flash silver when she is angry.

personality-very smart and intelligent but doesn't like to show it. is usually quiet and shy, but can be feisty when cornered. bookworm.

background-orphaned at two in a shipwreck (dad drowned, mom took little Calyn in a rowboat and made it to land but then died because of overexposure). Raised by a successful peasant farmer and his wife. Up 'til then it was kinda stereotypical. But on her tenth birthday, she found an old book in a cave. It had songs in it and--wait. I forgot to mention she is popularly called Calyn Silvertongue, for her voice--and she tried singing them. Basically, the songs are magical songs, called "chantments," that control different parts of the earth. (I will admit I did not come up with this idea. I borrowed it from a trilogy I'm reading. I hope it's not plagiarism, cause I've used it a lot in my stories.) In short, Calyn discovered that when she sang the songs, things happened. (i.e., ice formed, fire sprang up, winds blew, etc.) She managed to keep it a secret for three years, but then she doused a fire in her adopted parents' cottage with icecall and the authorities in her village, fearing her magic, decided to send her to the Academy. So, yeah, she can technically control anything, but she hasn't learned the songs perfectly yet, so she can't really.

abilities- like I said, singing magic. She has nine different form of songs, each controlling something different. (I will bring them all in at some point) Her three strongest are Seeming (very high notes that produce illusions), Icecall (which produces ice--duh), and Windcraft (which can produce gales or breezes or whatever).
She is normally a peaceful person, but if forced to she will fight.

familiar- a silver eagle that can change size, named Cristae (KREE-stay).

other-NOT up for love--seriously, she just turned 13

Calyn

"Cristae. It's safe. Really. You don't have to hide in my hair. Besides, it's uncomfortable. Perch on my shoulder if you're not going to fly."

The silver eagle squawked at Calyn. Why? I like it here.

Calyn sighed. Cristae was a wonderful friend, but she could be stubborn. "Please? If you perch on my shoulder you can stretch your wings after that cramped coach ride."

If you insist.

"Thank you," Calyn said gratefully as the tiny bird untangled itself from her hair and instantly tripled in size as it perched on her shoulder. Turning around, she cried in surprise, "This place is huge!" She gawked for a moment before the coachman called crossly, "Hurry up, miss. You're already late."

"Oh, right." Calyn grabbed her traveling bag and walked quickly to the gate. Once there, she pulled out the letter that had sent her on this journey in the first place. The guard looked at it, then waved her through. "Dorms are down the road and to the left. The girls' is the one on the right. Welcome to the Sorcerer's Academy."

*gads. Now I have to get her into a dorm room. Can anyone be my roomie?*
