The Faerie Court

Aurora:

"Okay. I promise I'll get her here. And, I won't let the queen have her. I promise." I knew she was worried. I didn't want her to be hurt. I knew what it was like to lose someone you love. I sighed. "Don't worry, I'll be back soon."

I grabbed my horse and raced off.

Owen-

"Aurora!" I called. I frowned at Lilith. "Where's she gone?"

Lilith shrugged, refusing to talk to me.

"She just completely burnt me," I said, a little hurt.

Behind me, the Queen let out a little silvery laugh. I turned and smiled, unable to resist.

"Owen couldn't be falling for a girl at last, could he?" she asked Alea with a grin. Alea let a little smile out as well.

I shook my head. "Of course not," I said, rolling my eyes. "Who could fall for just one girl when there are so many pretty ones out there?" I asked, kissing Alea's hand. "You promised me a dance and I never had it last night."

But my mind was still on Aurora, wherever she was.

Alea stood beside the queen. Had she needed something? Alea wondered.

Alea~

"I'm sorry, Owen. You just seemed so preoccupied." I said with a teasing smile.

Faede-

"Well he was," I said. "Owen, what on earth is happening to you and Aurora? I thought I had made a good match."

Owen dropped Alea's hand and shrugged. For the first time I saw him looking unconfident. "I don't know," he said. "She was nice to me last night and now..."

I smiled. "You're Owen. You'll find a way." I looked to Alea. "Walk with me?" I asked.

Alea~

"Of, course, Ma'am."

Lilith~

Lilith slid back down to the ground. What if I put Aurora in danger? Oh, I hope she returns safely. Grace is going to call me mommy instead of sissy. She looks exactly like me. Oh, please be safe, Aurora and Grace. Lilith sighed. What have I gotten my daughter into? She's going to be a changling, like Ki-Mimi.

Aurora:

I hurried back with the little girl. "Here you are, Lilith." I smiled. The queen glared at me. "Can't I have one human?" I asked.

She sighed. "Fine. just this once." Then she walked off.

Owen was still upset. I looked at him and sighed.

Faede-

"This is a veryinteresting turn in events," I told Alea. "Rather than trying to get out, one of the humans is bringing another toy in. It's wonderful. I must thank Aurora for that idea of giving them both to Kitty."

Alea nodded.

"I think I might go for another ride, although they've taken my mare back to the stables," I said, turning around. I met Aurora on the way.

I frowned as she asked for the changeling. She had never taken much interest in humans before. What was happening?

Owen-

I caught up with Aurora.

"So now you have a changeling of your own? I thought humans didn't make good pets," I challenged her.

Lilith~

"Mo-" Lilith cupped her hand over Grace's mouth.

"Call me sissy," she whispered.

"Sissy?" Grace asked, Lilith nodded and picked her up, hugging her tightly.

"Thank you so very much Aurora." She said, mounting the horse she'd been riding earlier. Her and Grace rode back toward the stables. She put the horse up and ran back towards Mimi and Tristan.

After a while of running she'd finally found them. "Tristan? Mimi?" She called. "I want you two to meet someone." She smiled and set her daughter on the ground, holding her hand tightly, and trying to hold back tears. You can't cry in front of her! Her mind demanded.

Aurora:

I frowned. "They don't. But I wasn't going to let the queen break up a family just for her own personal pleasure."

He looked at me, and I diverted my gaze. I was still upset.

Owen-

"You know, you didn't let me give you a proper apology," I said quickly, inventing as I went.

"It's fine, Owen," she said beginning to walk away. I fluttered after her.

"You see, I have to flirt. Otherwise the court gets upset. When they hear Minstrel Owen has fallen for just one girl, the next thing they're expecting is an intelligent troll."

She nearly laughed. Nearly.
