I use a notebook on trips where a computer isn't available. It's really green and plain, but a lot of people have given me weird looks when I write something down in there. Hello! That's what a writer does! Get over it!
I don't carry a notebook, but I find anything to write on. Most of the time I have to use my arm or the back of a recite. The only problem with that is that I normally take a shower before I write the things on my arm onto paper, or I louse the piece of paper.
I have a plain 5-subject blue one (I had a black binder for my last novel because I had no much info) so it looks like my other ones for school so no one really can tell. If I have an idea or something I just write a few key phrases on my hand or in my notebook in a margin (if it's in class) and put it in my notebook when I'm studying.
I'm writing in my head anyways that I know that if I carry around something I will never get anything else done. Key phrases on body parts is the - well - key for me.

I have three now and they all fit in my binder. One's for lists and the other two are just there. Never mind, four. I have one in my purse too. I upgraded purses but it's one of those half note books so it can fit a bunch of places.

I got a black (custom made *giggle*) notebook. I write everything there. It`s kinda messy cause when i get an idea i just open at a blank page and start writing. It`s filled with undernotes, drawings (made when i get bored), lyrics, coords for guitar ... Only I can read my notebook...
Life is a song. You just need to know how to sing it.
Yeah, I have two notebooks and a clipboard. One is a lovely little red affair, fabric bound and with tinted pages that my mom picked up at the dollar store for some reason but never used. It fits perfectly into my purse (I never used to use a purse because my notebooks didn't fit in it - I seriously carried around like a messenger bag-style briefcase around all the time because of that) and so I tote it around when I am out. It is my "writing log", where I write about what I have written, along with notes and ideas on things that may come to me.
My second notebook is also my journal, contained in a one-inch binder. (My last one was black, but now I have a white one because the other was full - I have a TWO volume journal now! *kaching*) I like binders because I don't carry this particular notebooks around and I have plenty of looseleaf at school. When struck by a thought in class, I simply take a fresh sheet of paper and scrawl out my thoughts, then add them into the binder when I get home. *huggles binder* It's got all my favorite writings from school, as well as links, songs, and resources I may come across, whether for writing or otherwise.
My clipboard contains all of my "Mutts" pieces in longhand (I write them all in longhand, then type them out) along with all the outlines for those pieces.
I don't always have my notebook with me, but I always, always have paper and a writing utensil. You should see the scraps of paper that I scribble on, filling margins and all, then fold into little squares and put in my pocket for later. Lots and lots of them, I say!
I carry two around but soon I'll be ordering a DeathNote book.

I carry a notebook everywhere but because when I get an idea so as I don't forget it, I write really fast to the point that the thing isn't even legible. I prefer typing all my stories up on the computer. Its a lot more efficient, saves the trees from moments of scribbling and ripping and throwing away. Life is easier that way,

True love, in all it’s celestial charm, and
star-crossed ways, only exist in a writer’s
mind, for humans have not yet learned
how to manifest it.
I carry a million with me and usually they only get filled up with horrible attemps at drawing my characters.... *sighs*
I've even promised myself I wouldn't draw in them any more but I do anyway
I carry one with me everywhere, even work even though I have no time to write except at the end when I have a total of two or three minutes before I have to go.
