Do you carry a notebook with you?

notebooks are your friend. O_O

i have...like...a million!! i keep one story in each notebook, becasue i find it easier than trying to use a computer during school. i also have one for poetry.

i eventually move everything to my computer, so i also have a 2 gig flash drive just for that. ~_^

I used to think it was a good idea to keep one..I'd put ideas down in it all the time. I lost the booklet for a year or two, and found it later when cleaning my room for spring. Looking back on it, the ideas that I wanted to use someday became a bit immature to me. I don't like keeping a notebook or anything when I get an idea, because chances are that those ideas are going to change later on into something else. I just think about something during inspiration, say, "Cool." and play around with the idea in my head for weeks and weeks until something happens with it.

I carry two. It's sad.

I have this cheap little green one. The spiral thing keeping it together is breaking and the pages fall out. It's still my best friend; it goes with me everywhere.

I pretty much freak out when I don't have it. I mean, I hear a song on the radio and I get an idea and ...look at that. I left it in my locker. Everyone suffers then. I'm writing on the back of my sister's homework, or borrowing someone's pen to write it on my hand. Hah.

I also tend to write things in different fonts. One line's cursive, the other is in all caps. Then the next lines upsides down or on the side.

I tend to take a notebook with me wherever I go. For drawing, if I need to write something down, or if a story idea comes to mind. Then once I'm home, I'll type it up on the computer and save it, then email it to myself.

Wow. Lots of people have notebooks they carry around, and so do I! :]

Mine is a plain black Mead Composition notebook. I like composition notebooks because they keep all the pages secured so I don't have to worry about one of the pages getting torn out.

Here are some things I put in.

- Poems (that I'm working on/that I like/that need to be edited)
- Short stories (that I'm working on/that I like/that need to be edited)
- My novel
- Randomness (that's the section where if a sudden idea or a line for a poem appears in my mind, I jot it down on those pages [I have 10 pages saved for that])
- Words I don't know (I look them up later)
- Cliché words/plots/phrases (for reference to make sure I'm keeping my writing as anti-overused as possible)
- List of Poetic Elements (what a metaphor is/how to write a metaphor, what personification is, etc)
- List of Fictional Elements (how to develop a plot, how to expand on characterization, etc)O
- Doodles (I like to make a random sketch and write about it)
- Writer's Blocks (I find and paste writers blocks from the Internet so if I need ideas I have a whole list to choose from)

And last of all I have a Famous Works section. That's where I print and paste my favorite poems written by famous, published writer.

Yes. I always have a notebook with me. Typicall, spiral notebook. It's my pen that always gets lost (and I sometimes cry if they do) that's why I carry two pens.

I pretty much write anything that comes into my mind in it. Random stuff, inspirations, a sudden scene flashing through my mind. Then, I try to sort it all out once I get home and put in a file in my laptop.

Oooogh, I know I should, but I can't seem to get in the habit.

I usually keep a college ruled notebook with me almost all the time. It's pretty orginization...most of the time. If I don't have one with me though and a idea suddenly comes to me I steal a pen from my older sis and write it down on a napkin.

Usually I have something to write on. I try and always bring a blue, small,notebook with me that I got at staples and it has a small folder in the back that I put pictures that my friends give me, a lucky penny, an old nickel, or other random things that tend to give me ideas. At home I have a word file for it, and since I can't bring the computer everywhere and I sometimes forget the notebook I have a pen on me 100% of the time (no matter what). So even then if I get an idea I can write it on my hand, arm, or (if I'm at school) margins of my paper, and if worse comes to worse, a napkin (If I'm at dinner.)

I have a moleskine, which I love. The only problem is that I am reluctant to use it.

I do when I remember! I'll try to be sure to bring one with me where I go, but I only remember about half the time. But its really handy when you get a story idea! Maybe try bringing a small notebook with you, leave it in an area where you tend to go, so you can remember to grab it! XP

I have a set journal and diary, then ordinary notebooks for chucking in my bag. I tend to just take the first one that comes to hand so they're all completely unorganised, full of quotes, lyrics, random lines that pop into my head, pointless ramblings or ideas.

I always make sure to have one with me because I have to spend so much time on the train during term-time. If I'm at someone's house when I get an idea, I take out a notebook and everyone thinks I'm crazy!

At the moment, I have one. Its a typical sprial back one. And its not organized. I have school work and stories in it; not a good combination because people try to look at it when they grab my notebook. Whereas, I'm protective of my notebook. It goes to lunch with me and to every class. Its too big to fit in my purse but my purse is already a mini-black hole; getting a bigger one will just cause problems for everyone. Last year, at one point, I carried four or five around with me for a couple of weeks. Looking back, the ideas I had in them were really stupid. I'm notoriously losing pens too. I see I am not the only disorganized writer in this world--makes me feel better. Of course, when I actually DO get an idea, I'm in the middle of a test or something or I don't have it with me.
