Maximum Ride: The New Breed

(Lexy) *why does everyone start posting when I get off? *

My wings ached and I wrapped my hand up in the scraps of my jacket. I looked at Blade she was fine but I felt kinda pale she looked at me her head cocked sideways.

"You ok?" She said sounding like she'd lost her voice.

"I'm fine." I lied I could barely breathe.

We flew for about three hours without stopping. I looked at Mayze she didn't look back she only looked back every fifteen minutes to make sure Blade and I were fine. I coughed really hard but no one paid attention to it... heck, I didn't even pay attention.

"Could we please slow down?" I asked Mayze but the wind was blowing so I didn't think she heard me. "Can you guys slow down?" I said loudly and still nothing they didn't even hear me. Wind knocked into me and I got pushed backwards but since no one was at my level or behind me they didn't seem to notice. I didn't even have enough strength to scream, I couldn't breathe. I had no air. My body started to free fall, and my wings had closed up on me, I started to fall towards the ground, I got knocked unconscious when I hit the something.

(Rose)

Rose swirled round between everyone as they flew quickly, following Reed. He was glancing down to the ground. Rose dipped underneath him and tried to see what he saw. She couldn't see anything interesting and dropped back to fly in time with Mayze.

She smiled at Rose and Rose smiled back and mayze turned back foward. Rose want to make sure Lexy was ok.

She twisted around to stare ar everyone quickly. Lexy wasn't flying with them. she swivelled in a circle. Lexy was behind either.

Rose called out to Mayze. The wind was so strong she couldn't hear her. Her voice was carried away in the air.
"Mayze! Mayze Where's Lexy?" she screamed.

Mayze didnt hear her and continued staring foward. Rose glanced round again frantically. She wasn't there.
"Mayze!" she screamed one more time.

*I'm leaving the story book open until more people post, so yeah.*

[Blade]

Blade barely heard Rose screaming for Mayze, and turned around. Catching her eye, Rose mouthed that Lexy was gone, or she may have actually said it but Blade couldn't hear.

She dropped next to Reed, "Lexy!"

He nodded and Reed, Mayze, and Blade dove down lower to search for her. Mayze and the others followed.

Beneath them was a city and a sparse forest, Blade searched for any sign of the missing flock member.

"There!" ZT shouted, and the flock dove.

(Lexy)

My wings closed up on me, the wind hit me hard. My long hair flapped backward and my body fell forward then backward. I couldn't breathe, I was choking for my last breath. I tried to force my eyes open but no such luck.

(Lexy) *sorry my last post was short..lol.*

I felt something shap and thin go through my injured hand, I wanted to scream I really did but I couldn't. I finally hit the ground, I felt myself shiver and tremble violently but no one was even around me, had the flock known that I'd fallen or did they care? Or were they coming to help me? I didn't know. I just needed to know someone was there, who I could trust. I felt so alone...

[Blade]

Blade could see Lexy now, she looked unconscious. She landed hard and ran towards her.

"Lexy!?" she shouted, kneeling.

Mayze came over and Blade relaxed, "The medicine?"

Mayze nodded and gave her a pill. Blade waited with the rest of the flock for Lexy to wake up, why couldn't anything just go smoothly? She paced back and forth, worried.

"Blade, you're going to pace a hole into the ground calm down," Reed told her.

Blade stopped and went to sit next to Lexy. This is bad, Blade thought, I'm getting too attached. That can only end in pain.

Maybe I don't care, she answered herself, Maybe the flock has to stick together. Maybe I have to stop talking to myself.

I felt empty inside I heard someone call out my name but I didn't reconize the voice, what the hell was taking forever for me to wake up? I could only breathe, on the inside I was screaming becuase my hand had gotten stabbed with something it felt like a twig I had to get it out.

**Sorry I was away for so long. Reading that many pages...jeez...I don't want to do that anymore!**

[Stella]

Lexy was down. If my eyes had been open, I would have been crying. Blade was freaking out, which scared me. I noticed a small pool of blood from Lexy’s hand and I concentrated on it.

A twig was imbedded deeply in her injured hand.

“Mayze, her hand.” I looked Lexy over carefully and saw that some bones were bruised, but not broken. “A twig I s stuck there.”

Mayze frowned. Frowning was never a good sign. I looked even more closely at her, “I think she’s conscious because her eyes aren’t moving back and forth in the REM sleep…thing. Her throat is really dry, probably by the wind, so she can’t talk or anything.” I looked up to see confused expressions, except Reed. His expression was that of amusement. I’d already told him of my ‘x-ray vision.’

“So…she can feel the pain, right.” ZT was the first to break out of it. I nodded solemnly and tore off a strip of my shirt, then another.

“Does anyone know where we can find some water?” I handed one of the strips to Mayze. “This is your game now.”

“I thought there was some water in that general direction.” Reed looked to the northeast.

[Blade]

"I'll get it!" Blade volunteered, jumping up, "I just need something to put it in."

**sorry its short, but i really have no idea what to put water in**

((Mayze))

I threw a pan at Blade, she easily caught it and ran off. I sighed, Lexy was a natural injury magnet. I considered just putting her in a plastic bubble.

I picked her hand up tenderly, examining the stick. Once again, Lexy was lucky. The stick went between her finger bones and missed anything major. I needed to wake her up.

"Stella?"

She looked up from Lexy's hand, "Yeah?"


"Can I pull the stick straight out?" I knew it was a stupid question to ask but I wanted to test something.

Stella squinted slightly at Lexy's hand, "I wouldn't. Theres a barb thing on the other side of the stick." Her eyes swept over my expression. She blinked, stood, and went over to talk to Reed.

I lifted Lexy's hand to see the stick protruding out the other side. Sure enough there was a hook at the end of the branch. I glanced at Stella quickly, perhaps she could see through matter? That would come in handy.

I broke off the little barb that was barely out of the skin. Lexy subconsciously flinched. I held the stick steady and broke half of the stick off. I grasped the rest of it and quickly ripped it out. That woke her up. Lexy yelped and pulled her hand away from me.

Lexy opened her mouth but only a croak-like sound came out. She tried again, but to no avail.

I gave her a sympathetic smile, "Blade's getting water. You'll be able to talk after you drink some."

After another five minutes or so Blade returned with a pot of water. "It's cold so that should help, right?"

I looked up, "I think so."

I gave the pot of water and an Advil to Lexy and let her drink it down, "Make it stop hurting." Lexy said, looking at her hand.

"'K" I replied. I soaked one of the bandages in water and cleaned the wound off. I dried it and wrapped another dry one around her hand.

I felt my nose twitch as I was thinking, "We really need to get into town. We need antibiotics and real bandages. Are we ready to fly again?"

*Where the hell did we get Advil??? XD XD XD*

(ZT)

I looked on helplessly. I doubted that there was anything I could do... after all, I was stronger, and probably not precise enough for any medical care. It was more of a female's job... the guys weren't as good.

Then I remembered something that I had noticed long before. I had extremely good reflexes, and I was very precise. Duh. I walked over to see if I could help.

*Speaking of guys, am I the only one left?? Oh, right... Reed... but Sam, Nate, and Colt haven't showed for a while.*
