[Nate]

"Lyssa!" I whispered and crawled over to her cage. Arro watched enviouly. "Lyssa, I saw Max! She's been taken captive by Erasers, or something! We have to get you out of here!"

"You're... you're going to get me out of here?" Lyssa asked, amazed. "How?"

"Uh," I replied. I looked back to Arro, who shrugged.

"We haven't gotten that far in the plan yet... Maybe we can ask Blade. I mean, she's pretty tough. I bet she can bend these metal bars..." Nate suggested.

Arro sighed. "If Blade were able to get out, then she would have done it already!"

Nate saw her reasoning. Who else was there? "What about Mayze? She's allowed to walk around! What if she could help us?"

The two mutants in the cages exchanged glances. "Just go and do whatever so we can help Max," Lyssa said.

Nate nodded, and ran off, trying to find Mayze.

Colt-

Max is back! The thought ran through Colt's mind like wild fire. They had caught her! He frowned, this wasn't good. He carefully adjusted his huge body in the crate. It was to small for his tall frame and it hurt his back and wings.

"Max got out." he said to Lyssa who was in the crate next to him. "Which is a big problem."

[Arro]

Arro thought long and hard about how they could get out. Two might be enough, but she knew the cages were tough.

'Lyssa, pretend you don't know anything, ok?' Arro whispered to her.

Lyssa nodded. Arro moved to the back of the cage then screamed. At the same time, she melted into the backgound.

Two White Coats came running around the corner. 'What the hell was that?' said one.

They ran over to Arro's cage. 'She's gone?' The one man put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a small metal bar. He put it next to the lock and the lock sprang open.

The door swung and Arro waited until he had crouched and shuffled into the cage. Then, she slipped out of the door and stood, waiting.

'You!' They addressed Lyssa. 'Where has she gone?'

Lyssa shrugged. 'I thought that one was empty.'

The two men narrowed their eyes. Slowly, the first backed out of the cage, swung the door shut, and they were gone.

I giggled.

"They're not too smart, are they?" I flicked my fingers against the crate sides again. "Can I come out now?"

[Nate]

"Hey, Nate!" I heard someone whisper sharply. I froze. Had the whitecoats found me? I shouldn't be running in the halls anyway! Oh, freak! I'm dead!

"Nate, it's me, Arro!"

Arro? But she was locked up in a cage! I spun around and saw ----- no one!

"Arro...?" I asked the empty air.

"I'm right here!" Arro pouted and suddenly the air shimmered, and the mutant appeared.

"How did you get out?" I asked, totally amazed. There was no way that she was strong enough to get out!

"It was just a trick I played on the Whitecoats. Come and help me get Lyssa out!" Arro replied, and turned invisible again.

[Arro]

Arro had seen how the man had opened the cage. Some sort of magnet had triggered the lock to open.

'The cage is opened by magnets, so inside the latch must be magnetic.'

Nate nodded. 'But how does that help us?'

'Well, I don't suppose there is anyone here who is magnetic?'

Nate shook his head. 'We will have to try brute force. Two of us might just be able to flick the catch.'

Arro nodded, but he couldn't see her so she answered out loud. 'Yeah.'

They each held on to a bar either side of the lock and pulled.

'Lyssa.' said Nate, his voice strained with the effort, 'Push!'

((Sorry for the delay!))

((Mayze))

I heard a loud crash down a few halls. I sighed, what was happening now? I had been out walking and saw Maximum Ride, The Rebel, struggling with a few White Coats. I wondered if that was her. I switched my eyes so they saw the air currents. The long strands of gold were flowing steadily towards the sound I'd heard. That meant there wasn't any tension in the air, the person who made the sound needed help.

I unfocused my eyes and took off down the hall, almost tripping over myself multiple times. I made it to the holding cells and found Arro and Nate playing with a cell door. Another bang went off and the door fell forwards. Lyssa was on top of the door, apparently she had pushed too hard.

"Am I needed for anything?" I asked from around the corner.

Nate glanced up at me. A smile appeared on his face, "You're actually just the person we needed."

My face screwed up in confusion, "Me? What can I do to help you guys?"

Nate grinned, "We're getting out of here."

I grinned back. Arro waved to me and I waved back. She was usually a good person, from what I saw, "I'll go look around and see what's what. If I whistle really high, would you be able to hear me, Lyssa?"

Lyssa had stood and brushed herself off and was looking at Arro, "I dunno. Try it now."

Arro put her fingers to her lips she gave a sharp whistle that even I could barely hear. Lyssa flinched and nodded, "I'm assuming you won't be close enough to blow my ears out?" she inquired.

Arro rolled her eyes, "Of course not." With that she went under the radar.

I shook my head in awe, "How does that girl do that?"

Nate gave me a side glance and raised his eyebrow, "How do any of us do anything?"

I shook my head again, "Haven't the foggiest."

[Blade]

There was commotion everywhere, unfamiliar noises ringing off the walls. Once Blade thought she saw Maximum Ride herself dashing through the halls. She heard a crash that sounded suspiciously like the opening of a cage door. Curious, she started fiddling with her lock.

"Come on you stupid thing!" she mumbled under her heavy breathing.

"Need some help?"

Blade jumped at the sound of another voice and looked through the bars, sensing that whoever was talking was in a determined mood. It didn't feel like a whitecoat.

"Ummm, yah? Who are you?"

"Name's Mayze. We're gettin out of here."

"Seriously?"

"Yep."

"How do we open the cages?"

Must get out... Must get out... I started mumbling to myself over and over, trying to relax.

Through the bars I could see Nate, I went to call out, but found myself stricken dumb. One of the whitecoats was down the hall. Or was it? I could barely tell anything from where I stood.

Stella:

I heard the racket around me, the Max was back. I shifted slightly in my cage, which was still all-too-small for me and every other mutant in this…place.

Colt shifted in his cage, I concentrated on the two walls that separated us. He clenched the bars at the front of the cage anxiously, his face expressing the same desire as I felt. It didn’t take a genius to know that it was time to escape. His wings twitched. We heard footsteps outside the door and I turned to look through the walls.

It was Max. My body quivered and I clenched my fists as the excitement took over my mind and her image faded. More footsteps followed where Max had been running; white coats. I breathed in slowly and concentrated.

I saw someone, I think his name is Michael, in his cage across the room, facing the hallway. He was starting down the hall. I blinked at turned to see where he was watching. I gasped and returned to my cage.

“Colt…” I rasped

“Yeah?”

“We’ve got trouble.” I’d wanted to cry out, wanted to tell someone…but I’d barley spoken, much less yell for help.

I looked around my cage, trying to capture the attention of others around me. "I want to be free!" As much as I wanted freedom, I wondered what it was... What would be like behind the velvet curatin? Would I ever reach it?
