Naira sniffed jealously as her sister caught the rabbit and began to trot proudly back to the pack. Humph. She scented the breeze for signs of prey, and thought she smelled something unusual. Walking off to investigate, she scented strongly other wolves, and they weren't Mystics. It would only be seconds befor ethye spotted her. She cowered down in the branches, and hoped they would pas without noticing her.
Cashmere put her nose in the air.
"Nashoba! Smell the air, other wolves are coming." Nashoba put his nose in the air and a look of worry came over his face.
"Gather all the pups and get them in the den." He shouted. Everybody started pulling the pups in and Cashmere pushed Zern in when she returned.
"Naira! Where is Naira?" Cashmere shouted as she scampered into the woods to find Naira.

She could hear loud noises coming from the direction of the other wolves, and guessed that they ahd scented the intruders. The were almost directly downwind of her now, and any second they could smell her. They were very large, and they smelled different from any of the pack. Naira watched as they scuffled about in the forest loam, while one of them began to mark a large rock. There were ten of them all told. Suddenly the leader snapped his head around to look right into Naira's eyes.
Cashmere jumped in-between Naira and the intruders. She grabbed Naira by the scruff and pushed her towards the camp. Cashmere snarled at the wolves and spoke.
"Get out of our territory!" She shouted at them. Nashoba darted through the woods and found cashmere and the intruders.

Standing next to the alpha female, Nashoba bared his teeth, hackles and tail raised in agression and dominance. He did his best to look fierce, but her could not suppress a slight twinge of nerves when the big wolves, instead of backing down, started making a circle around the alphas. Suddenly Cashmere raised her head and howled, drawing the sound out for as long as possible. Hopefully the other wolves would hear and come.
Mid-howl, The lead intruder sprang for Cashmere's throut. Nashoba snarled and snapped at the wolve's face, but missed as the other wolf backed away.
Cashmere collapsed as if she was hurt, then the leader of the intruders approached her. She jumped on the wolf and tried to get it's throat. The wolf pushed cashmere away before taking a few steps back.
"Who are you? Why are you in our territory?" Cashmere asked as she kept her eye on every wolf, Nashoba did the same.

Mansi layed and watched as Winnepea and the other members of the pack surrounded the mystics. The mystics were outnumbered. They wouldn't last, even if they did put up their best fight.
Winnepea snarled and then lunged at one of the mystics, grazing its neck. The mystic tried to bite back, but Winnepea used the strength in his legs to dodge the attempt. He began to laugh, a low growl in his throat.
One of the mystics began to talk. Mansi had to drag herself forward to hear what was being said.
"Who are you? Why are you in our territory?"
Winnepea stopped laughing and stared hard at the injured wolf. "Who says this is your territory?"
The other wolves began to laugh. Mansi watched at the two mystics began to tense. A fight was brewing. Mansi perked up her ears. There was a pounding of paws on cold, hard earth. It-- It sounded like mountain lions. But that didn't make sense. She thought that Winnepea had taken care of them. Mansi turned back to the wolves at the sound of Winnepea's voice.
"Don't get your hunches in a bunch. We're only passing through. We need--"
A loud roar echoed throughout the forest, shaking the trees. Mansi stood up, her heart racing and limped through the bushes.
"We don't have time to explain."
Winnepea turned, staring worriedly at Mansi. "Mansi, you're hip. You-- you must lay down."
Mansi shook her head. "There's no time Winnepea. The lions are coming."
The wolves from her pack drew in a deep breath. Winnepea's eyes grew big. "But we killed them all."
Mansi turned from Winnepea to look at the two mystics in front of her. "Apparently you didn't. I don't mean to be rude and I'm sorry we intruded upon your pack. But we are in grave danger if we don't move quickly to a place where we can hide."

Cashmere waited a moment before responding to the wolf.
"Follow me, you can stay with us for a little while, then you must leave." Cashmere said to the wolves. She started walking away and they followed. Cashmere could tell Nashoba was not so sure about letting them stay. When they made it to the rest of the pack, Cashmere let Mansi and the rest to the den.

The strange wolves padded silently through the clearing, not looking to their left of right. THe rest of the pack looked on curiously, some of them ushering pups back into dens. The alphas led the wolves to an empty den, and started to talk outside it's entrance. Unable to hear from where she was, Naira beckoned Zern with her tail and crept up to a hiding spot behind the conversing wolves.
"We ran into them once already, but we thought they had given up following us." That was one of the strange wolves, talking quitely, and almost as if she was in pain.
"The mystics will do their best to protect you, but I can not endanger my pack." That was Nashoba. Naira felt a flicker of unease, making her coat prickle and her hackles raise slightly. What could be dangerous enough to make the alpha afraid for the pack? Zern brushed against her shoulder, and she looked over at her sister nervously.

Zern left the den and went up to one of the strange wolves, she started growling at Mansi.
"Zern!" Cashmere said to her and took her back to the den with Naira.
"Who are they?" Zern asked quietly.
"They are staying with us until the mountain lions are gone." Cashmere said and went back to leading the golgots to the den.
"Are any of you hurt?" Cashmere said to the golgots.

He knew he didn't have much time to find a sollution. The camp was reasonably secure, but he knew that if the cats decided to try and breach its defenses, it wouldn't hold. He had to get the pack to a safe spot! But where?
Cashmere sat down and was worried for her pack. She thought of a few ideas.
"We have a few choices, fight, or follow me to a hiding spot and wait for them to leave." Cashmere said and looked at Mansi, them Nashoba.

"It would be better not to risk any of the pack's lives. We'll have to go somewhere to the east of here, where there is some open space where I think we would be safer. Most of us can outrun them anyway, and they would lose much of their advantage if we can see them."
Nashoba thought for a moment.
"We have to hurry, we might be able to carry them the whole way." He said as he picked Zern up by the scruff. He looked up at Cashmere. Cashmere picked Naira up by the scruff too then out her back down.
"We can try."

Naira bounced in her mother's jaws, trying not to complain too much about her displeasure at being handled in such a disgraceful way.
"I can walk!"
"No, you can't, not fast enough."
Naira murmured self-pityingly, glancing around at her surroundings. The strongest wolves took up the back, while the mothers carried their pups in their jaws.
