Naira heard her mother shouting from the edge of the clearing. She looked up in time to see he sister disappearing suddenly into the forest, and sighed.

"Oi vey, not again!"

Still, curious, she trotted closer. A strange smell met her nose, but she shrugged it off. Her mother had already gone chasing after her sister, but Naira really didn't see what was so urgent about it. It was just her crazy sister wandering again. She headed into the forest at an angle, knowing she would soon intercept her sister's path.

Zern couldn't turn her head to see what had her, but she could she could look down.

The thought. She struggled and tried to look behind her to see what had her, but she couldn't still. She started howling as loud as she could, trying to get help, then Naira walked out of the bushes and they saw each other.

Naira took in the situation as fast as she could. What had happened? She could smell that the huge wolf did not mean well, and it snarled at her through its mouthful of Zern's scruff. Uncertain, Naira darted forward and bit its foreleg. It yelped but didn't let go of her sister, and shaking her off began to limp forward into the undegrowth. Naira added her voice to her sister's howling a high-pitched wail.

Cashmere ran through the trees and saw what was happening. She darted at the wolf and tackled it. The big wolf dropped Zern and was stuck under Cashmere, she could easily kill the wolf if she wanted to.
"Who are you? Where are you from?" She said looking the giant male directly in the eye.
"Mom-" Naira started
"Not now Naira!" Cashmere said to her. The big wolf quickly got Cashmere off of him while she was distracted, and got on top of her, then Nashoba ran through the bushes.

The two wolves son over-powered the other wolf. It lay on the ground with its tail tucked as more Mystic and Golgot wolves appeared. Cashmere waisted no time with formalities.

"Who are you and what are you doing on our territory?"

The wolf didn't answer, it tried to strike at Cashmere's throat, but failed and bit her shoulder instead. Cashmere jumped back and yelped, she glanced at her bloody shoulder before going back to the wolf.

"Who are you, and what are you doing here!?" She growled

The wolf cringed in front of the alpha female, but still didn't answer. The other wolves clustered around it. Suddenly one of the golgot wolves spoke up.

"I know who it is!"

Cashmere turned quickly to look at the other wolf.

When Cashmere turned, so did Nashoba.
"Who?" Cashmere said loud enough for everybody to hear her. The golgot just stood there for a spit second before speaking.
"He is-" She stopped when Mansi came into the circle of wolves, then she spoke.

"I... I think I've seen him before."

Mansi stuttered a bit when all the eyes were on her, including those of the trapped wolf, but she soon sraightened and her voice became louder.

"He is the son of the old alpha, but no longer a Golgot. He was sentenced to death because of unspeakable crimes which I will not mention, but somehow on the day of his execution, he escaped. We hunted him at first, but he was never found, until now."

Instant silence filled the clearing, in which all eyes were now fixed on the new wolf. One of the pups that had followed it's parents to the clearing whimpered slightly. Then suddenly a growl came from the new wolf, and Cashmere lifted her paw from it's throat. It began to speak, in a low- gravelly voice that had obvioulsy not seen much use.

"Name those crimes, and I will tell you why I did them." He said boldly. Mansi stayed silent but he just looked her in the eye. At that moment, he tried to escape, with a pup. Cashmere jumped forward after him but with one hurt paw and one hurt shoulder, she couldn't get far. But mansi and the other golgots stopped him.

Mansi hurled herself directly in front of the wolf, eyes glistening. "Put the cub down, Ahanu. It has nothing to do with us."

Ahanu's lips curled and he dropped the cub out of his mouth, the cub falling violently to the ground and letting out a sharp yelp. Ahanu looked at the small cub and began to laugh. "They think they're doing right by blindly following their alphas. How wrong they are. Too bad this one couldn't be saved from the likes of you."

Mansi looked down, eyes beginning to water. The other golgots spread out around Ahanu, circling him and snarling. Winnepea stood next to her. "Should we dispose of him?"

Mansi looked up, horrified. "No-- No, you must not kill him."

Winnepea's eyes filled with confusion and he tilted his head to the side. "But this-- this monster helped with planning a mass murder of the other packs, even after we signed a peace accord. You want to just let him go?"

Mansi stared at Ahanu. His eyes were like dark holes, sunken in and black. His fur looked so dirty; clumped together in certain spots and his white tail was now a pale gray. She shook her head. "It is not up to us to kill him, Winnepea. That is up to the council to decide."

Winnepea let out a deep sigh. Ahanu let out a deep, long grunt. "You haven't changed one bit, Mansi. Still as weak as you were before. It was a mistake them letting you become the packs Alpha. I mean, look at where you've brought them in a matter of days."

Zern entered the circle of golgots and started growling at Ahanu, but then he snapped at her face and she jumped back, towards Mansi, and hid in-between mansi's legs.

Nashoba stepped forward, Looking down on the mangy wolf.

"We will escort you back to camp. We will not hurt you unless you become violent."

He beckoned with his head and four wolves came forward to surround him, eyes wary. Ahanu spat at them, but kept his tail and eyes lowered. The wolves began t move back to the cliffs to collect the rest of the pack, then headed for camp.

On the way back, Naira bounced ahead, Wanting to be the first back. The wolves guarding Ahanu brought up the back, with only a few guards behind them. Finnaly Naira broke through the last bit of undergrowth and gasped. The camp was not as the wolves had left it. Finnaly she had found the reason that the mountain lions had taken so long to attack them.
