Scipio led Alice out to the centre of Town and they wound their way past stalls and people until they found a vacant space where a few people with instruments were half heartedly playing, staring at the passer bys beseachingly.

"Hey you," Scipio called out. "Think you can play a bit faster? Something lively?" The group of performers he had addressed looked up with hollow, confused eyes but when he repeated the request with more adequate words - 'Greetings my fellow performers. Would you care to play me a merry tune?' - the music improved a little. Taking Alice's hand, Scipio twirled her around and then began to stamp his foot to the rhythm until he had the beat right.

"What song?" Alice hissed.

"You choose one," He replied with a slight inclination of his head.

Okay, folk music then What about this one -

'Twas on a Monday morning
When I beheld my darling,
She looked so neat and charming
In ev'ry high degree.
She looked so neat and nimble, O,

A-washing of her linen, O,
|: Dashing away with the smoothing iron, :|
She stole my heart away.

'Twas on a Tuesday morning
When I beheld my darling,
She looked so neat and charming
In ev'ry high degree.
She looked so neat and nimble, O,

A-hanging out her linen, O
|: Dashing away with the smoothing iron, :|
She stole my heart away.

I doubt you need to mention more than two verses... any good?

Lol. Okay, let me give this a go...

"I can't think of one," Alice whispered, "and I think they're getting impatient!"

"Okay," Scipio agreed, "then take your lead from me." Suddenly, he began to twirl Alice again and as they danced in circles, he began to sing -

"'Twas on a Monday morning when I beheld my darling, she looked so neat and charming in ev'ry high degree. She looked so neat and nimble..." As Scipio sang, he led Alice in a lively dance and after the first two verses, her silvery voice joined his and a crowd began to gather around them. A few of the younger, more lively spectators began to beat out the tune with their feet and their hands and one or two even ventured to sing a few lines.

As that first song came to a close, Alice twirled once more and then the two bowed in perfect harmony. The crowd applauded and Scipio held out his hand hopefully and was amazed when people began to literally scatter coins at their feet.

"Sing it again!" one woman shouted.

"Yes, again!" another agreed.

Alice glanced nervously at Scipio, who twirled her again and they began to sing and dance. When they had finished lots of coins had found their way to their feet. "Well that was sucessful," Alice said as she started collecting them in the hem of her dress.

Bella woke up, her head spinning. She knew what was wrong...she just needed to fix it. There was a plant...some sort of pollen...that was making her soooo tired...she could just go back to sleep....but that would be irresponsible...and Chris needed her....but sleep sounded so good.

"NO!" Bella screamed, waking her senses suddenly. She grabbed Chris, who was still asleep, and began pulling him towards what looked like a hopeful way out.

After a few hours of strenious calculations, it was ready. The small box was alrady connected to the ships shield generator. He scanned over the Temporal records. Looking for the closest coordinates.

"Heather and Rick, they're only a few yeats back. It should be a perfect test." Adam typed in the coordinates, charging the main generator and sending the signal to the shields.

There was an intense moment of pulsing sound and light. It died away, almost as if it hadn't worked at all. With a look out the window, Adam saw the stars. They were different. Placed in differnt points on the black veil of space.

"I did it!" the historical records were already shifting, Heater and Rick's locater beacons were transmiting.

"Yes, very," Scipio agreed as they headed down the streets, leaving a trail of copper and silver coins behind them as the money trickled from the hem of Alice's dress.

"Think we have enough for a belt or two?" Alice asked with a giggle.

"Oh yes. Might just stretch to a meal as well," Scipio replied in a mock serious tone. They soon reached the clothes shop and were delighted to find that sheaths were sold in the back room.

"Isn't that a little extravagent?" Scipio wondered as Alice emerged with not only a jewel encrusted sheath but also a very beautiful, elegant gown.

"Don't you like it?" Alice asked, twirling so that the light material floated up and then back down to caress her arms and legs.

"Very much," Scipio admitted.

"Then it's decided. I'm sure we can afford it."

Alice smiled and blushed, looking down at her dress, "you really like it?" she asked shyly.

Scipio nodded and lifted her chin to meet his gaze, "its beautiful." He looked at the sheath, "this is a bit much though, maybe take off a few of the jewels." As he spoke he tried to pry off a couple of the jewels that looked like they'd been thrown on instead of artisticly placed on.

Alice grinned and pulled two off of the shelves, "these are better suited for us, I just wanted to see what you did with those."
I just lost the game.

"... Right," Matt said after a long while, due partially to his low IQ but mostly to his posting laziness.

"So, what do we do?" Nutty asked.
"Absolutely nothing!"
"What!?"
"Come on, you've seen that Simpsons episode! If you ever travel back in time, don't step on anything! Because even the slightest difference can change the future in ways you could never have imagined!"

Nutty sighed and dragged Matt through the crowd of Smileys.

"Stop!" Matt yelled. "Stop, I say! I say stop! I insist that we halt! I demand that you cease your dragging activity this instant! ... if we bugger up the future, it's your fault."
"No, it's the fault of whoever's responsible for our being here."
"... Whatever. Where are we going?"

"This way, obviously."
"But where does that way lead?"
"How should I know? we always avoided the smiley planet!"
Nutty pushed past another smiley, and almost walked straight off a cliff.
"Whoops!"
Matt peered past her. "So how do we get off this planet??"
It's not where, it's when we have to worry about."
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

Adam ran to bridge and transmitted a signal to Heather and Rick, hoping they wouls get it. The only problem was that Earth had already sent two warning missles past the Highwind.

"Not very nice in the past, are they?" Adam muttered, "Come on, pick up. I can t transport you if you dont respond!"

Scipio nodded and they paid the rather startled shop owner for the sheaths and dress.

"Where to now?" Alice asked when they were back out on the street.

"I'm not sure," Scipio replied. "I suppose we have to wait until Adam can fix this but while we're here, we might as well enjoy ourselves."

"Good point. Have cinemas been invented yet?"

"No, I don't think so but there are theatres."

"Close enough," Alice decided with a happy smile. "And then perhaps we could try jousting?"

"Oh yes, that sounds like fun."

"But I highly doubt they would allow us to joust, isn't it still the noble blood thing? I don't know about you but I'm a yank head to toe, and defiently not of noble blood."

Scipio laughed, "I don't think I am either, unless I see one of my ansestors here in a castle or something."

Alice laughed, "watching might be just as fun, lets go."

Scipio took her arm in his and they walked off, looking for a jousting match.
I just lost the game.

"Adam!" Heather's voice rang out of the speaker of the comm, "It's about time."

"Sorry for the wait, give me a few seconds to transport you and Rick. Try and get into the open."

"Easy for you to say, You've caused a mass panic, We're all being shoved into a shelter. Ouch! Rick that was my foot!"

"Sorry," Rick said, muffled by the communicator.

"Well, I have a plan, hopefully it wont totally screw the timeline." Adam cut out, programming the computer for atmospheric entry.
