2. Excerpt from History Textbook, Entitled, “The Sea as Enemy, Sample 1”
Thoughts: Spoiler
First poem to play with a form!! Decided to draw on the classic epic poems of ye olden times so this follows A/B rhyme schemes and iambic pentameter! : D Also liked the idea of the title casting doubt on whether or not the poem's contents can be trusted... y'know, every piece of writing has a motive, yadayada, history written by the winners and often the privileged, that type of thing. Enjoy!

Hiiiii! Omg I love to see iambic pentameter. Also I can totally see this being like sung as political song in this fantasy world. Are you going to flesh out a single world over NaPo or jump between lots of different world building ideas?
Can't wait to see where you take this!
"I've got dreams like you--no really!--just much less, touchy-feeley. They mainly happen somewhere warm and sunny on an island that I own, tanned and rested and alone surrounded by enormous piles of money." -Flynn Rider, Tangled
Oh winter! Poem one had such nice sweeping formatting that felt like the grandiose introduction before a big dramatic story. I liked the line "ghost of a man / ghost of an empire / ghost of something" - it's an unexpected progression and shows the uncertainty of the narrative - that something is maybe a little off.
And then this second poem is terrifically fun to read because of the rhyme and iambic pentameter. My favorite line was "doth revolution, vile and greedy, brew" - !!
I'm curious to see where this goes next with this narrative!
you should know i am a time traveler & there is no season as achingly temporary as now

Had fun with this one!! Thought about playing with a physical family tree, but decided against it. Also worldbuilding and setting up the three older brothers yippeeeeee!

@Ventomology thank you so much!! I'm gonna be fleshing out a single world, which I'm super excited about! It'll be part narrative memoir poetry, part completely fictional fantasy world, and I'm excited to see how I can mix those two to create something cool! : D
@alliyah thank you so much!! I so appreciate your comments and thoughts! I had a lot of fun with the iambic pentameter, and I plan to play a lot with form this time around! I've done some research on some obscure poem types I've never tried before that I'm gonna try to tie in thematically at a couple places so I'm excited about that!

4. The King’s Early Years (As Told From Firsthand Account of the Trees Through Which He Roamed)
Thoughts: Spoiler
Okay but y'all, I'm having SO MUCH FUN this time around. I mean, I generally have a good time, but I am LOVING having a coherent story to follow? I am really enjoying curating a collection of poems this time, rather than just writing daily to try to meet a goal. I've loved all my past collections but this one feels like it's really gonna be something special and potentially publishable?

First poem that's first-person and also set within the world (not the Princess-Bride-esque beginning!) I think I really like this one. I've liked all of them so far, really. :] Lemme know if anyone has thoughts! I love to read them!

What you're doing with the different perspectives for each poem (history book excerpts, journal entries, thoughts of trees,) adds such interesting layers to the story! I really like the shift from the formal history book to the less formal trees to the casual, natural lines of the journal. I'm excited to read more!

perhaps i can make something of this unreality... ~~~~~~
6. The First Proclamation of Newly Anointed King XLII, Aged 11
Thoughts: Spoiler
This one is a littleeeee more ouch than the others I've written so far, but I knew I wanted to do a first proclamation and I couldn't figure out what that symbolized so I went with (drum roll pleaseeee) panic attackkkk. At least, the first I remember, haha. Onwards and upwards! : D
Also, @spottedpebble, thank you so much! I'm so glad you appreciate the varying perspectives I really wanted to play with variety like that in this collection :]

The Eldest (Recovered Diary Fragment of King XXXIX, Sample 1)
Thoughts: Spoiler
I think I like this one :] I can't tell if it feels like it's, idk, pivoting the collection? I don't want it to change necessarily, though I do like the idea of some of the poetry feeling a lot more personal and intimate.

9. under the crown is a head, is a heart (Recovered Journal Sample 2)
Thoughts: Spoiler
I really like this one. It's the least medievally one I think but I'm okay with that, since all of this IS a deliberate type of autofiction (fictional in some places, memoirish in others).
