Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the Song Poetry event! It was truly wonderful to listen to the songs and read your incredible poems. Without further ado, let's jump right into the results from this competition!

BRONZE

WeepingWisteria from Feathered Friends!

Spoiler
Wist, your poetry never disappoints! I love how you told this reflective story with so many brief, but powerful details. Fantastic work!

you've outgrown children's comforts
forget the names before you mourn them
they have nothing for you now

SILVER

alliyah from Feathered Friends!!

Spoiler
alliyah, your poem was brilliant. I love how you mentioned the echo and used that a bit throughout the poem to prove a point. I love the gentleness of your words.

I want to join the cicada chorus song; bitter-life, bitter-death,
but life-goes-on, bitter-sweet, the echo sweeps
and the song continues on; bitter-life, bitter-death,
but it's never really done.

GOLD

Ley from Friendly Fiends!!!

Spoiler
Ley, your poem was incredibly beautiful. I love how well you can provide so many sensory and descriptive details that can applied both physically and emotionally at the same time. The entire poem was filled with 'energy' and really moved me.

I find you dangerous.
A field of electricity that stuns, burns, but attracts. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed,
so why is that every time I’m around you, my heart turns to static?
You live inside my head, twist my thoughts, and bury my emotions so I can’t feel you hurt me.
But I feel it.

Thank you so much to everyone who submitted a poem or cheered us on! The poems were incredible. I felt a common theme of growing up and reflecting on the past, through a lot of the poems. I was also blown away by the beautiful graphics and animations that you made! Go and check out the rest of the poems, if you have not done so already, right here!

alliyah-> your very first... submission... changed my life. Your words never let me down and it inspired me to not give up <3

JazzicusMaximus-> Absolutely loved the organization and simplicity of your poem! I felt engaged the entire time- wonderful work!!!!

Que-> I related to your poem SO much. The ending 'I let it end. I let it begin.' made me cry. I love your reflective tone. Such a strong poem!

Spearmint -> Your poem was so lovely! The ending, where we come back to the present and realize that, "and i think it is me, not a kite, that needs to fly." SO good! Another one of your poems that brought a tear to my eye.

NoOneInParticular-> I adore your use of asking questions throughout your poem. That made me feel very connected and spoken to on a more person level. Love it!

niteowl-> I really am in awe of how you can capture so many emotions in one singular poem. I was blown away by your song references- also, love the songs!!

Plume-> This poem was so extremely descriptive that I felt like I could picture and see everything. It felt like a good memory to me. Love your simple writing style you used in this poem- it was extremely strong and well done!

chrysanthemumcentury-> The flow of this was lovely. I like how you touch on this dark side, almost as if we are hearing from someone seen as a villain, trapped there, unsure of how to change. Wonderful!!!!

Valkyria-> This has a lovely tone to it. I can really sense the strong emotions and desired behind the words and it felt incredibly personal. I love your writing style!

OrabellaAvenue-> I related to this poem so much. It feels like watching your sibling grow up. You really captured that love and hate for change. Great work saying so much in a short poem!

KateHardy-> WOW!!!! The animation was next level!! A huge shoutout to you- that was incredible and I loved it so much. I love how you organized your words, they were simple but so much was felt.

LuminescentAnt-> I love how you asked that question, "but was it me who needed to help?" I loved the narrative aspect of this. I really felt like I was living inside someone's head, as they overthink.

Congrats to all participants and winners! Happy writing and best of luck moving forward, with the rest of the YWS olympics results!
