Hoping to finally finish my 'first draft' of Miscreants, and also to develop the worldbuilding for another fantasy novella (more specific goal to be determined later).

Miscreants: fantasy political intrigue story, planning to work on this 23 mins a day

Through the Amber Forest: speculative/fantasy story in a world with mysterious magical creatures

Oooh exciting that you might finish Miscreants during Camp! How close do you think you are to the end?

Some planning

Miscreants: fantasy political intrigue story

I have a pretty detailed outline of how I want the last chapter or so to play out. By and large I'll just follow that and finish up the draft. I know there are probably a bunch of side characters and side plots that don't really get resolved in the ending. My plan is to leave that for a revision because I ultimately might decide to cut a lot of that out, and also the ending was always meant to be a bit open-ended, with things still left undone.

Through the Amber Forest: speculative/fantasy story in a world with mysterious magical creatures

As I'd like to be able to use this setting for future projects, I'm trying to increase the depth of the worldbuilding. My main goal is to come up with a sensible climate, even in very broad strokes, based on this setting's rather odd premise that also involves plenty of magic that is incorporated into the physics and biology of the planet. In our physics terms, magic retains conservation of energy/matter while magicking up the processes betwixt, if that makes sense.

The story itself, which is a second draft, will probably be another month's project.

Day 5

120 words and completed the draft of Miscreants. Got started on figuring out how climate in Through the Amber Forest works -- I just realised I might have to change some of the locations from being villages to being places where nomadic groups of humans occasionally come to because of how volatile the unnamed planet in the story is ^^'
