Ooh, interesting question! There are a lot of really, really cool aquarium fish that I admire -- but I lack both the time, money, and energy to keep them myself haha so the favorite fish that I personally keep are platys! They're pretty low-effort and really pretty and related-ish to the fish I studied for my thesis haha

Ooh, catfish can be cute! Have you heard of madtoms? They're teeny little catfish and are the cutest :')

Could you explain the behaviour of fish in this artificial lake? They're always moving from one side to another. Like the lake is sort of semicircular, and the flat edge has this platform attached to it. They keep moving along the rounded edge. If you walk along it in the opposite direction of their movement, they turn and sort of swim with you.
Do people feed them? Often that kind of behavior is often indicative of them being used to someone and expecting food

Um... Maybe people do. They didn't do that at the start, but I walk there twice a week for like 2 months so they've gotten used to me. I don't feed them, really
Aww, that sounds really cute, ngl. Idk if you've heard of "classical conditioning" but it's basically the whole Pavlov's dog experiment where he trained a dog to start drooling when it heard a bell, by associating the bell with the presentation of food, to the point where the dog would drool at the bell even when food wasn't offered, just from the expectation of there being food.
And I have definitely accidentally classically conditioned my pet fish haha my nightly routine is I feed them, then go to the bathroom and get ready, then come back and go to bed. And I realized a while back that ordinarily my fish ignore me when I walk by their tank, but when it's late and I walk past they all swim to the surface of the water in expectation of getting fed. And now I think that's just really cute and look forward to it every night haha sometimes I put my fingers in the water and get little fishy kisses before I feed them, too haha

For sure! Thanks for the question! Always happy to talk about my kin-folk xD
