The plot of the story was already explained in the first post, but here’s a simplified list of what exactly is going on in The Reawakening of Hickory Grove:
- - a group of six high school/childhood friends get stuck in the middle of a villain attacking their school
- they realize that the strange things in their lives can be explained with them being reincarnated; meeting a guy who shows up at the end of the attack also helps
- my character, Jane, suggests that they use the powers they now have access to/had in their past lives to become superheroes
- the group starts fighting minor villains/the big bad who wants to figure out how they got reincarnated while also trying to get back all of their old memories.
The big kicker of the storybook is that it really shouldn’t be in the superhero genre. It’s probably more fantasy/sci-fi, depending on your character’s backstory. But Jane suggests the idea of them becoming superheroes right after they get their powers, and the group decides that they want to go along with that idea.
There’s also a plan in place in case anyone has to abruptly leave the storybook. I hope that won’t happen, but I wanted to be prepared in case it did. Anyone who leaves the storybook will have their character captured by the big bad; anyone who joins to replace the lost writer will have their character suddenly realize they were reincarnated, too.
