Here, you will find all posts not strictly in-character or in-universe, which is why the character template isn't in the storybook itself. If we should ever require more than one discussion topic, this post will stay here. The second and third posts (which will contain all the important information), however, will be copied and submitted in each new one. So, err, I assume Zeus – that’s the PC, Archibald Virtue – has already explained to you the weirdness that surrounds your current circumstances. In the event you are reading this and he has not yet done so, finish reading only this sentence and ask him for clarification. If you are [i]still[/i] reading this, then you had better be well-informed about your situation. If not, you are either defiant/disobedient and I predict we’ll have some trouble with you in future (though nothing that I can’t straighten out, I’m sure), or you’re too curious for your own good (which I’ll also have to handle). Anyway, by now you’ve probably noticed two odd names: “Olympus” and “Zeus”. These are references to Greek mythology, which would be foreign to you even if you [i]didn’t[/i] have your memory wiped. (Sorry about that, and if you were wondering, yes, I love my parentheses.) I’d be more than happy to explain them to you, but for now, just know they are codenames. (You’ll become familiar with them eventually.) My codename (and the only name by which you’ll ever know me) is Hekate, your real-life John Clark, i.e. your On-site Coordinator for our epic version of Rainbow. Now, as the person who will literally be the voice in your head throughout all of your daring missions, I need to know as much as possible about you before you even reach Erebus (my not-so-humble abode), since the action can start at any given moment, including the one at which point I’m typing this document. Therefore, you need to fill out the questionnaire with as much detail as possible. If anything confuses you or you don’t know what to do, don’t leave it blank; just write [i]something[/i], except when I specifically say otherwise. Oh, but please don’t write me an essay, since I’m not a teacher. I’m a hacker. Big difference. (Not that you’d know.)[/size] [size=50]Disclaimer: The format in which this questionnaire is written is not completely original, as it is partly based off one I found online. You obviously have no idea who you are, and neither do I, so this section will be used to gather the basic information. If you can remember your given name, you’re either lying or have a false memory, so make one up for yourself. It can be whatever you like, from traditional names like Samantha or David, to more exotic names such as Anastasia or Dhiren, or even nouns like “Shadow” or “Frost”.[/b] [color=character's favourite]…[/color] ♦ [b]Unfortunately, here comes your first reality check: you can’t always get what you want. While being called “Frost” or “Shadow” would be epic, in today’s society, people don’t have names like that. (We aren’t in a fantasy roleplaying game, you know.) This subsection is where the identity by which the world will know you comes. I’ll fill it out myself, so you can skip on to the next section.[/b] [color=character's favourite]…[/color] ♦ [b]Actually, you can skip this one too, since this is where [i]your[/i] codename will come. Once again, you have no direct influence over what I choose, so be nice to me, or face the consequences. Until such a time that I have allotted a codename to you, your in-action codename will be a combination between “Alpha” and a number, e.g. Alpha Two. Later, this will be used to identify your teams instead; when that point has been reached, your team will appear after your codename.[/b] [color=character's favourite]…[/color] ♦ [b]Now that your identity is out of the way, I need you to describe your appearance. We’ll start with what people immediately notice, namely gender, approximate height (measured in metric and imperial units), approximate weight (the same as approximate height), and build. (Your choices for build are “skinny”, “lanky”, or “slender” if you’re thin; “chubby”, “fat”, or “obese” if you’re overweight; or “lean”, “robust”, or “burly” if you’re muscular.) I expect a list with the mentioned items beneath each other and in order of appearance. Leave two spaces, a dash, and two more spaces between each answer and its heading, and capitalise all the words. I am impartial, of course, but not everyone is as open-minded as I am. So, I need to know your race (the PC will tell you what yours is) and nationality (the PC will tell you what this is too). Your race is basically your skin tone, but be specific, even if it’s less official, e.g. Caucasian (tanned/partially tanned/pale). Your nationality will technically be American, but there is always the possibility you speak with a recognised accent, in which case it will be appropriately indicated, e.g. French, British, American (Texan).[/b] Race – [color=character's favourite]…[/color] Nationality – [color=character's favourite]…[/color][/size] [i][b][size=150]█████ Superheroes and –Heroines are Awesome![/size][/b][/i] [size=120]♦ [b]This section will attempt to ascertain your Pokémon identity and any undiscovered abilities you possess. Alright, so Hunter and I did a small Roleplay based on the questions I'd posited earlier, where he responded as the PC and I introduced the questions, as well as posited further ones, as Achilles/Jeremiah. We've finished, and, due to the lateness of the hour, he invited me to post the RP transcript in full. If any of you have any further in-story questions, please feel free to ask them (in-character, of course), and feel free to add comments of your own or suggestions.

Achilles: "How exactly did you implant these memories within my brain, not to mention remove those of my past?"

The PC: "In the many times I have envisioned this conversation, I always seem to ramble, so I shall endeavour to be concise, yet detailed. But first, I must mention that I created the universe we left behind. A creator deity doesn't need to think about doing something or require a process to have their will be done. They simply will it, and it is done. Before you left my universe and came here, I still had power over you, so I was still in a position to erase your memories. Thus, I willed them away, and that was it.

"Now, the methods by which amnesia is induced in this world are fallible, and the amnesiacs recover their memory with the help of triggers. Your memories most likely ceased to exist, so by returning them to you, I should have to fabricate new ones first. That is why I can say with surety that you will never get them back. This may sound harsh, but I advise you make peace with this fact, for people have been consumed by less.

"Erasing your memories was therefore the easy part. Implanting mine most certainly was not, for I was already in this world by then. Ordinarily, that would not be a problem, but this universe's creator deity is more powerful than even I can comprehend. The laws of existence are different here, and as such, I cannot function in my full capacity. I had to think long and hard about which memories I were to transfer. In fact, Hekate even helped me decide. Once that was done, I used the last of my power, which was contained in those seventeen plates behind me, to ensure you would receive them upon arriving here."

A: "If it took you that much effort, wouldn't it have been more efficient to simply remove my memories and add your own in the universe you created, before sending me into the other one?"

PC: "It would, yes, but I had only made the concerned memories in the seven years after I arrived here. It would have been impossible to give you what I did not already possess."

A: "But why take away my past memories? If we chose to join you, how could knowing about our past lives and our participation in this experiment make us change our minds?"

PC: "Whether you agree or not, the memory of a past life would have been a distraction. I can say with certainty that while some of you would have longed to return, some of you would have been haunted by your pasts. Either way, it is a burden that would have lowered your efficiency. Hate me if you must, but if I were given the opportunity to do anything differently, I should not."

A: "Would it have been any less efficient than the time it would take for us to adapt to a world we've never seen before, even with your knowledge?"

PC: "At the moment, your only challenge is to learn about the new world in which you find yourself. If you had retained your memories, you would have to do that in addition to dealing with the sudden change in appearance and the loss of your abilities. It is much simpler this way."

A: "Okay, you make a good point. How much of the knowledge in our minds did you replace with yours? Are our personalities even ours, or did you swap those out as well?"

PC: "Everything you know, which is to say, knowing how to walk, speak, read, write, and so on, that is my doing. Everything you feel, which is to say, reacting upon seeing a dead bird, smelling an orchid, receiving a hug, et cetera, that depends solely on you. Our fellow humans have a saying that goes, "We are the sum total of our past experiences", which means your past influences who you are. Yes, that means you are not the same person who left our universe, but at a base level, your personality hasn't changed.

"I was very careful not to implant any of my personal experiences into your minds, so any you make are your own. Your journey here and even this very moment will shape your personality. How you view authority will likely be influenced by this encounter. Your experiences during the next few weeks will determine how you live the rest of your life. Daunting as that is, you are not held back by a troubled childhood, a failed education, or the like, for you had none. You are a blank page, and everything written on you from this point forward will define who you are. You have a choice in that matter, so you can choose what kind of person you want to be. This is a precious gift. Cherish it."

A: "That's...actually relieving to know. However, what are we expected to do when we come across something even you can't recognize, as it was hard enough trying to correlate your memories to our experiences without feeling like we hadn't a clue what we were doing?"

PC: *chuckles* "Pardon me, but I find that question amusing. If you encounter something and don't know what it is, it means I shouldn't know either. In that case, you would have to do what all humans must do in such circumstances: figure it out yourself." *chuckles a little more*

A: "Yes, I'm laughing too. On the inside. Why couldn't you control where we wound up? Sure, you might've been lacking in power, but couldn't you have devoted some of what you gave up to help us make our journey the slightest bit easier?"

PC: "Regrettably, no. I used the very last of my power to ensure that this letter," *holds up letter* "would be in your pockets when you arrived here. I even had to ensure you had pockets in the first place. You must understand, I had no idea how many of you would agree to hear me out, so putting enough energy into the act to ensure even as many as ten people would receive a letter was draining. If there were eleven of you, one would still be lost out there. I am most relieved that is not the case."

A: *sighing* "...I expected as much. So I suppose that leads me to my next question. If you were responsible for taking away most of our powers, are you also responsible for making us human in this world?"

PC: "Indeed, I am. This city could easily be destroyed by a single rampaging Gyarados, which is essentially an extremely aggressive, flying sea serpent. If all of the other participants of the experiment were in their natural forms... this world would be lost. If I were to give humanity a fighting chance, I had no choice but to confine everyone to frail human bodies."

A: "Somehow, I almost find that funny. That we could've destroyed the world unless you made us into humans. But my temper hasn't died away, and I still have a few questions. Are you aware of how massive this city is? How did you expect half of us to travel through these huge crowds, large amounts of traffic, and the extensive network of streets without help? Unless you'd assumed that we would've come not too far away from your headquarters, which leads back to my question on your controlling the locations we woke up in. Frankly, the one girl who walked the entire distance got blisters and her feet started bleeding. Now that's a way to give a person a decent first impression."

PC: "It is most unfortunate that events unfolded in such a way, but there was nothing I could do about it. I had to, as the saying goes, "hope for the best". For an entity who has always known the fate of those who reside in his universe, that was not an easy thing to accept. It took me seven years, which is partly why I waited so long to send the letter. Even afterwards, it would keep me awake at night. At the risk of sounding insolent, everything turned out well enough. I daresay this universe's creator deity is to thank for our good luck."

A: "Since you're the only person here who seems to have even a piece of an explanation as to what is going on, though I still can't entirely trust you or everything you say, I'll have to do with what you're telling me now. So I'm moving on to the next question. If my new memory, or whatever you call your adding your memories into my brain, is correct, popular culture is not the same thing as reality. And, even if that's not the case, I'm fairly sure they've never seen anything like this before. So, how are you so confident that the local residents won't be surprised if something "odd" happens, especially if it involves powerful forces in conflict with what seems to be a plainly present evil?"

PC: "Oh, I am certain they will be much more than merely "surprised". The explanation I gave in the letter is true, but I am not the one responsible for it. That would be our adversary. He chose New York City, not me. I simply followed."

A: "Why would he choose such a massive city? If he has forces of his own, wouldn't it be all the more obvious to a lot more people than elsewhere?"

PC: "Of course. Our foe can be subtle if he so wishes, but usually, he has a flair for the dramatic. Though I had not expected him to be arrogant enough not to care if the whole world knew he was coming, I suppose he targeted New York due to its strategic location. From here, he can access the rest of America and Europe, not to mention how devastating it would be to the Americans' morale if New York, the second largest city in the world, was so easily overrun and conquered. Shock and awe is not characteristic of him, but then again, his ambition never struck me as far reaching enough to include global dominion. He must be the most cunning actor ever to have existed. Then again, he has two very literal sides, and the more twisted one has always preferred the extremes, so I guess it's not as surprising."

A: "So, you're fighting a persuasive megalomaniac? I guess that explains some of what's happened so far, but not all of it. I still have my last, and most important, question. What specifically do we have to fear? Who is our enemy? Why should we be afraid of city streets, or the mayor's office? What is our situation right now, and what do we have to be concerned about?"

PC: "I must admit, I had not expected you to think past your own circumstances so quickly. I am impressed by your insight. The person we shall be opposing in the coming conflict is a man named Thomas Siskin, also known as the Mayor of New York City. He is the reason why I warned you to stay away from city hall. Although I found his supreme confidence boggling, his current behaviour more accurately portrays his dominant side, which is is that of a jester. He enjoys playing games, as shown by the fact that he hasn't fired me yet. You wouldn't know this, but the police commissioner serves at the mayor's pleasure.

"He is charming, handsome, polite, and extraordinarily persuasive, which is why I wanted you to stay away from him at all costs. In time, he will gain more support, and then he will reveal his true colours, namely those of a greedy devil, but for now, he holds the favour of the people. He even does a good job of managing the city, much to my initial shock, so he will not be going away anytime soon. Fortunately, he is just as powerless as I am, and his Prison Bottle is now as decorative as those plates behind me. It will not be him or I who will determine the winning side, but all of you."

The PC: "Not at all. Any assistance you choose to provide must be done entirely of your own accord. Hekate - that is, our greatest ally - will be sending two limousines to transport you to her estate outside the city, regardless of whether you join. Once there, she will create an identity for each of you. If you wish to go off on your own, she will provide you with the necessary resources to do so - things like money, an apartment, a job, and so on. If, however, you agree to help us, she will initiate the process to determine which powers you have, and you will reside at her estate indefinitely."

A: "What happens if one of us refuses to help with whatever it is you need us for?"

PC: I just realised he answered this question already. XD

PS: Buggie informed me that Chinese people nowadays have an English name too, so if you want your character to have a middle name, just ask me, and I'll give them one. If you have one in mind, you can also make a suggestion.

It would be really, really interesting if we had an alchemy-themed team looking to use Solgaleo to gain a Philosopher's stone and try to become immortal or something. Dude's ability is even called Full Metal Body, and Full Metal Alchemist is already a very popular anime that centers around that theme.

However, as I've been told, for my second post, Achilles needs to interact to some extent with at least three other characters. Maybe a small conversation, a few snippets of dialogue, etc. Since the RP thing worked so well in forming accurately the conversation between Achilles and the PC, I was curious if anyone else is perhaps interested in setting up a small RP with me sometime over the weekend. It shouldn't take that long - 10-20 minutes - and you can use the conversations to contribute to your own posts. So, is anyone interested? It'd be an effective way to assure our character's conversations remain accurate and true to their personalities.

But yeah, I should have plenty of time over the weekend, so, if anyone's interested, I'll be available.

I'll definitely keep that in mind, @Tortwag. However, I still see no logic in that, by both Legendaries being part Psychic, the Sun and Moon's representatives are weak to Dark. I'd have preferred Solgaleo being Fire/Steel and Lunala being Fairy/Ghost, but hey, what do I know? Of course Heatran isn't the only Steel/Fire Pokémon and there are absolutely Pokémon with the Fairy/Ghost typing. And I mean, it's not like we've seen the Steel/Psychic combination before (go away, Jirachi, Bronzor, and Bronzong), and Psychic/Ghost is totally original too (Hoopa-Confined, you can go away as well). Right? -_-

@AstralHunter Forgive me if I'm wrong - as in, slap my stupid face - but you make it sound like you didn't watch the video yet. 'Cause y'know, said video gives a pretty solid explanation, as you may have seen already. About how Solgaleo might be a component of the sun, and doesn't represent it, with the whole "devours the sun" legend, which would then totally explain why he'd be weak to it, because he's its "servant", they may be both weak to Dark so that the third legendary may stop them by BEING of the Dark type, yadda yadda. Video says all of that already.
I find this lil' twist very interesting, personally, especially if it does get into the lore of the game.

I'll not slap you in front of everyone, @Tortwag, but I actually have watched the video, otherwise I'd be uninformed and therefore not logically able to comment.
1. The alchemical part is why I didn't mind the Steel typing, which frankly, I was fine with from the start, and even though the YouTuber did provide an interesting explanation, Solgaleo is, by that reasoning, more likely to represent the substance to create gold, which has iron in it, but isn't iron itself.
2. One can argue that the alchemical association warrants the Psychic type, but as I plan on mentioning in my letter to the Pokémon Company, we have fifteen Psychic types already (Mew, Mewtwo, Lugia, Celebi, Latias, Latios, Deoxys, Jirachi, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Cresselia, Meloetta, Victini, and Hoopa), which makes it the most prevalent type among all Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.

Do we really need any more? Flying types can be excused, but to me, the repetitiveness is getting boring.
3. You cannot deny that it sounds ridiculous that the Sunne and Moone Pokémon are weak to Dark type moves - Lunala doubly so. I mean, really?
4. If Game Freak had alchemy in mind (which it had better, with such horrible typing logic-wise), then Lunala absolutely must be represented in the same way.
5. I discussed the possibility of the YouTuber's suggested Eclipse Duo master with my brother, and though that would make sense, it also means that a lion is weak to Bite and Crunch and that a bat should be very afraid of the dark.

Clearly, Game Freak wanted to do something that nobody would expect, but I'm not entirely sure they considered all the options. That's my opinion, and while I know they won't change the typing now, after having released it, but is it too much to hope for a Mega Evolution/Primal Reversion that fixes those flaws?

2. You're actually gonna write a letter. You're starting to remind me more and more of the way I was when I started following the releases of the games I like.
Not that I'm some sort of old geezer lookin' over you or something, but y'know... an evolution in mindsets.
As for that letter of yours, there is a high chance that Game Freak (because that's who you should send your letter to, since they're the actual makers of the game) will say something along the lines of:

"Hello dear Pokemon fan. We manage our pokemons the way we want. Deal with it.
Love, Ken Sugimori, Lead Pokemon Designer"

Except in more professional terms, but that's probably what's gonna happen.
(...That would be a HILARIOUS response though XD)

As for the repetitiveness getting boring... Um, how can I put this... Pokemon's always had a case of repititiveness somewhere. Anime, game, manga. In fact a lot of people got bored because they thought it was always the same thing, which it wasn't, but the feeling's there.
Essentially what I'm saying is that you're gonna get used to find stuff repetitive, maybe even disappointed. I'm... WOW I'm being fatalistic.

3. I don't find it that ridiculous, since well, lore hasn't been explained yet.

4. Which is what I'm expecting, else I'll be giving you the rifles myself so that you may assault them and give 'em a wake up call XD

5. (call him Dookieshed) I've seen weirder/more ridiculous stuff growing up with the Pokemon World, to be honest. Like a God of Darkness (Darkrai) being afraid of PUNCHES an BUGS.

I've come down with a cold, so I'm wearing two shirts, a hiking jacket, a scarf, and fingerless gloves. The letter to Game Freak can wait until I'm in the mood to write it. XD

On a more rPMD-related note, Zygarde's 10% and 100% formes, as well as their signature moves, are unlikely to affect the storybook much - at least in this installment. What interests me more are the two Pokémon leaked in CoroCoro magazine. I've never been a fan of koalas, seeing as they sleep about as much as sloths and eat only eucalyptus, but I'm excited to see what the canine evolves into. (The names are likely the Japanese dubs.)

With regards to the upcoming posts, it looks like all the questions have been asked and answered, so I'd appreciate it if you all worked on submitting your posts as soon as possible after Fox has posted his. Thanks.

With the first day of E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Exposition) behind us - or the second one, I suppose? - many new details have been revealed. Among these are the first Pokémon you'll be able to catch. Pikipek (excuse the name) is a Woodpecker, i.e. the Normal/Flying bird you can expect to catch at the start of every Pokémon game ever, Yungoose is the Normal rodent you get to catch, and Grubbin, a larva. Oh, and Solgaleo and Lunala apaprently have a Radiant Sun and Full Moon form (they called it "phase"), so there's also that.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I am writing my post. I will admit to having been lazy the past couple of days, especially as I decided to read a book or two and E3 has also brought all kinds of news on video games I'm interested in. But it's progressing. While I can't put a specific date by which I'll be finished, my hope is that I can complete it within Sunday.

@AstralHunter, would you mind if I established the conversations between Achilles and some of the other characters while everyone is answering their questionnaires, and end the post by having them all go into the limousine? I'm fine with it either way, as I can incorporate my ideas into the post regardless of what you'd prefer. I just want to know if it would be fair to have everyone enter the limo, and then allow the other writers to carry on with that.

Okay, so maybe I didn't actually play the game extensively, and maybe it was the GBA remake. And maybe I spent more of my time watching my brothers, who, to this day, are much better at action-based games than I am. But I listened to the music a lot back then, so this is nostalgia-heavy for me. And it's good music. XD
