Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),
Hi! I'm here to leave a quick review!!
First Impression: Well this a powerful little piece to read here, especially when read in light of the story of Vanessa. It tells you a pretty compelling tale of how Moira managed to lose pretty much everything dear to her by trying to chase after the wrong thing on search of power and it really resonates so powerfully.
Anyway let's get right to it,
Once upon a time, there was a woman named Moira Higgins. She wasn't just any person. She was a witch and her daughter was a witch, too.
They had lived happily ever after, using their powers and having the tightest bond, but then, she had fallen in love..
...with the sweetest demon in the world. It sounds ironic, given that he was the son of the devil, but this man was wonderful. His name was Noah.
Oooh well I didn't expect to run right into the story of Vanessa's mother here, but this is a happy coincidence. I think it'll be very interesting to explore the story of how she ended up changing ever so much cause it is clear from this that Moira did love her daughter.
He was a vampire. His name was Mark. Now,Mark was known to hate witches, because they are what cursed him to be a vampire. But he was always known to make deals and bring people to power.
Moira and Vanessa had colorful hair.Moira had orange hair and Vanessa had purple hair.If a witch had colorful hair, that meant that they were extremely powerful.Moira and Vanessa were the last two witches in the entire world who had colorful hair.
Ooooh this is interesting. It introduces a side to this whole story that we definitely didn't see before that is now making this entire situation look a lot different there. I can't wait to see how this plays in because I can tell that this is the root of what ended up changing Moira so much.
She knew that if they died,if Vanessa didn't have any children and if Vanessa had any children, but they didn't get colorful hair, there would be no more left.Their memory would be forgotten.
She wanted the witch community to remember them,to cower in fear of them and to respect them.
Mark would help with that.He had wealth and he'd bring her name to power.
Ahh well it seems Moira in a somewhat noble cause got a little bit drunk with power and ended up prioritizing that whole thing over her own family and their wellbeing and so instead it seems she's starting her downfall here.
So,Moira broke up with Noah, took custody of the son and married Mark instead. She told him the deal and he agreed.
But she paid a high price with it.
On the day after her wedding,Mark had killed her and then bitten her, turning her into a vampire, without her permission.
When a witch becomes a vampire,they are no longer a witch.They're a vampire.
If anyone asked her why she was a vampire, she'd make up a lie and tell them that she wanted this, because it was too embarrassing for her to say that she was vulnerable and became a vampire because of her new husband.
Well that explains a lot as well. Wow, so it seems Mark here didn't even do any convincing, but rather just did it all completely against her will by breaking the trust that she placed in him. This is quite sad to see how Moira made one wrong choice there and now she's pretty much doomed here.
It didn't stop there.Mark would drone on and on,talking about how he despised witches.Moira could tell that Vanessa didn't like him and she didn't,either. But,he'd bring their name to power,so they had to put up with that.
One day,Mark told her that he wanted Vanessa to jump out a window and die.
"But if Vanessa dies, there would be no more colorful haired witches left." Moira said.
"We can do something better.Vanessa is a nuisance. We don't need her.Me,you and our son could do so much more." Mark said.
So,Moira agreed and told her daughter.Vanessa didn't agree, but she made her do it.
Well at the very least it seems Vanessa's little plan worked there. I also didn't quite realize earlier that the family actually wanted Vanessa dead, not just gone so this ends up heightening that whole thing even more here. It looks like things have really unfolded there for Moira to be stuck in such a horrible situation, unable to disobey Mark and not only has she lost herself and the daughter she loved so much, she hasn't even managed to achieve the goal she made this wrong choice for as well. That's a powerful moment here to see just how badly it can go when you pursue something with greedy intentions.
Now that Vanessa was gone,it was just them.
It appeared Moira wasn't the same person she was with Vanessa.
She made a mistake marrying Mark. When she kissed him in the ceremony, she had lost one of the most important things in the world.
Herself.
She had lost herself to him in a pursuit of power and now...she was something else.
Well yeah that about capitalizes that whole situation rather perfectly. It seems its all just gone wrong and Moira in the end can only just live with that horrible realization, unable to even really try and do something about it.
Aaaaand that's it for this one.
Overall: Overall, I think its a really strong piece here. You map the way it all falls apart for Moira so well and you can see how its far too late before she can finally sit down and accept just how badly it all went for her. You manage to make us feel quite a bit of sympathy here for this entire family and it really comes across so powerfully.
As always remember to take what you think was helpful and forget the rest.
