Hello, thevoiceinside here :elephant:
.
I was in Haiti a week before the earthquake. I was working in orphanages. When I heard the news of the quake, I was devastated. I am heart broken. In my despair, I wrote this. If you have questions pertaining to the conditions there, IM me. DO NOT post questions about Haiti on this thread. Thank you. All the orphans that I worked with are alive but they're starving.
.
If you would like to reach out and help my orphans, go here: https://www.foundation4children.net
The money will go to them within a few days to buy them food and emergency supplies.
.
Thank you

Don't Let Go
.
The rain falls all around
And my world...
It's crashing down
.
Your eyes tell me you are afraid
Hang on my little one, be brave
.
That night drifted on like a lonely bird
An earthquake hit and so I heard
AS I lay my broken heart to sleep,
I prayed your life would be yours to keep
.
[chorus]
Don't lose your faith
Don't lose your hope
Don't lose sight of who you are
It comes from within your soul
Don't let go...
Don't let go
[end chorus]
.
Do you remember when I held you tight?
I whispered everything would be alright
You held to me, you didn't let go
I felt my heart break but it didn't show
.
One day your life will flip upright
One day you will win the fight
.
[chorus]
Don't lose your faith
Don't lose your hope
Don't lose sight of who you are
It comes from within your soul
Don't let go...
Don't let go
[end chorus]
.
Wake up my little one
Your pain...it's almost done
.
You'll always be in my heart
I am forever changed [forever]
And here, my life will re-start
.
Hang on my little one,
My little one
Be brave
.
Don't let go...
[Be brave]
Don't let go
.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who has made a comment on my song. I would also like to thank everyone who posts a comment after this message.

This song is literally written from my first-hand experience and from deep inside me. It's real; every bit of it. Everything I said in this song actually happened. I did pray that night that their lives would be theirs to keep. And it's a miracle because the children that I had met are alive, even now, after the earthquake.

When I said:

"Do you remember when I held you tight?
I whispered everything would be alright.
You held to me, you didn't let go.
I felt my heart break but it didn't show."

This actually happened. I was in a place called 'Mother Teresa's Home for Severely Malnourished Babies'. While there, I held a very sick baby. I held him tight and I really did whisper that everything would be alright. And he held to me, he didn't want to let go. And I literally felt my heart break. But like in my song, I didn't cry until after I had left. I knew that if I let myself cry while there, I'd never be able to pull myself away. As I was leaving, that little baby boy cried out to me, grasping onto me and said, "Mama, Mama, no!"

That is forever engraved in my head. He was obviously a lot older than he looked for having such a vocabulary, but his physical condition was that of a 4 month old baby.

Experiences like that change you forever. Walking away from him was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. But...I would do it all over again if I could. Just to be able to hold him again.

I hope that none of you take your life for granted.

This was so moving and beautiful. I especially liked the lines, "As I lay my broken heart to sleep, I prayed your life would be yours to keep." Those lines took the classic bedtime prayer and added such sorrow to it. Very well done. :)

Thank you so much. I hope every thing goes well.

This is simply brilliant.

I was nearly moved to tears when I read it. It's people like you who change the world one step at a time. I thank you for that, and am sure many other people do as well.

I really have nothing else to say simply because I am speechless.

Thanks again for giving that to the world.

Love and all that jazz.

Beautiful. As I read this, I could hear it being sung in my head.
