Rumors

E - Everyone

In Stuff You Shouldn't Look At

Whispers, whispers
Behind my back
Gossip, gossip
"She did that?
He did this?
Who did that?"
Chitter, chatter
Whisper back.

"Mister, Misses,
You did that?"
No I didn't,
Who told you that?
"No one, no one."
That's a lie!
"No one, no one."
Fine, good-bye!

Rumors, rumor
Part of life.
Gossip, gossip

Like throwing a knife.

Cuts you down,
Breaks you apart.
Rumors, rumor
Part.
Of.
LIFE.

I like this poem, and the worst thing about it is that it's true (which isn;t your fault :D) Our society is becoming such a big busybody today that all it has time for now is to spread rumours and gossip without even knowing if it's real or not. :(

Anyways, nice poem! You represented the problem we are facing today realistically. I especially like the line "Part of life", because that's what it's become.

Keep it up!

Heyyyyyy, blablabl92 here! Loved your poem! its totally true. worst part is, its like the game telephone, people here it wrong, and then they spread lies. Of course people always say, "well I didn't start the rumor, so it's not my fault." They might not have started it, but they have spread it. Even if they only told one person, then that person might spread, then the next person, then on and on and on. And of course, as always in your wonderful poems, you are right, it is like throwing a knife and getting broken apart, and, every time the rumor gets to one more person the knife gets deeper.
You really have a gift for poetry! And its nice that your are writing about teen problems, because people are going through this right now. You have to tell me your secret about making up rhymes! I do not know how you come up with such great ones!

you have really AWESOME poems!

Wow! All my respects! You are truly amazing! Hi, Opora! XD Here to make a review on this awesome poem!

Ok, well you make this poem sound so good! You can make poems sound so much different than what other poems sound like. This poem flows delicantly, softly and light. Almost like if you were singing a song!

You make the meaning of Rumor and Gossip so understandable, i truly admire your piece. I think this poem would be great for teenagers and famous life to read. I think they more than anyone get you and this poem! Keep writing! Rock on!

Keep up the good work! ;)

I like how you kind of have the two people talking in the first 2 stanzas. it sounds kind of cool.

you also say rumors are part of life. That can be true. people on the street spread rumors every day!

Despite this, you can stop rumors by just telling people it didn't happen. Yet, we spread rumors ourselves because we think we hear things, but we didn't.

Jesus, you couldn't pay me to be a teenager again. lol This totally takes me back to junior high! I love the flow it has, it reads really easily. The only thing I might change would be the last part. It sounds choppy and throws off that great flow you have going. But its insanely relatable. Keep it up!!

Thank you and I'll look into the ending. Thanks for reviewing!

I really enjoyed this poem. It has a really nice poetic flow to it, and it's 100% relatable to anyone in middle or highschool. I especially liked your diction at the end. :)

I really enjoyed this. It's very to the point yet clear in it's meaning. The repetition was nice and flowed with the beat. There's only one thing that didn't flow as well...The 20th line doesn't seem to fit in. Perhaps if "It's" were dropped it sound better. Regardless it's a lovely poem!

Thank, and I do see your point of view on that. I will fix that.

I love this!! :D It flows really well, has a good beat to it, and explains rumors perfectly. Great job! ;)

I like how at the end, you wrote:

Part.
Of.
LIFE.

I don't know what to call it, but it's really cool and I love it. <3

Nice job again,

Thank you. And it is part of life, sadly. I wish it weren't though.

I love this so much wow. It totally portrays the way rumours work and I love how you repeated the words. It's perfectly simple, which I personally think really made the poem great. And the rhyming flowed really well.
Just one thing I found was that you ended quite a lot of lines in the first two paragraphs with the word 'that', which sounded a little repetitive. Apart from that I don't see anything wrong with it. Good job :)

racket replied · Jun 8, 2013

Thank you, and you can't really help it with "That" being such a commonly used word. Thanks for reviewing!
