Take my body whole
Do not wait for my eyelids to part
Or lips to sing
Eat my body whole
Pay no attention to my stagnant breath
Or unpaced heart
Rip my body whole
Set aside your fingers not to graze my cold skin
Or to pull my hair behind while I listen to lovely words
Ravage my body whole
Listen as the crows fly to the next tree
And as cloth spins in suds
Only to dry and gather dirt in time

This is an amazing explanation of aggressive love. The poem is spectacular! It shows a person who is obsessed over their partner (not a bad thing). I kind of relate not to the extent of the poem but I enjoyed the poem. The writing reminds me of how a villain would give everything for the love of their life. Mixing horror and romance together is unique and I appreciate your uniqueness.
Hello @julia002 !
just here to drop a short review.
Ya its a good poem! I loved the mixture of " aggressively in love"
if it is somehow related to the theme...i don't know really ..
uh there are a few points where i think you might just improve
( totally my personal opinion)
So ya,
. i guess you can work on your vocabulary a bit. Just a few words can change the whole tone of the poem...it will make it much more realistic and can make the readers captivated.
. you could have started the poem in some different tone, although its okay this way too, but just according to me it could have started with some mystery hidden in words ...or something else.
ok no more harsh words.
The rhythm is really good...i like the words " unpaced heart"
.
oh ya that's it
keep going !!
good morning, afternoon, or evening!! I'm only reading poems for today and waiting for my school year to end so I may read other writer's novels and short stories. plus, it's nearly exam season so, I am opening this site only because I have the time for today.
for @julia002
- your poem is great, the context is clear. I love how it is under the category of 'horror' because I don't know, the statement of taking someone's body has the appeal of body horror. which reminds me of the movie 'The Substance'. but mostly, I can also see the romance context of it. the romance bit of the poem reminds me of the song 'Step On Me' by The Cardigans.
- mixing romance and horror feels rare to me to read and see. I've read stuff like Twilight, maybe you could count that like horror and romance mixed together. but in this poem, the narrator is so obsessed with his/her lover or even just someone they're in love with. the person is so obsessed that they would let their lover take their body.
- for the structure of the poem, it looks like a freestyle kind of writing. it would be better if you used punctuation marks. it would make your readers feel more emotion when they read it.
I hope this helps you. you did great and are great!! keep it up^^
Hello! I've not reviewed many poems before, but I'll try my best with my limited knowledge. Sounds like a good one for Valentine's Day...

As the Ballad Begins (first impressions)
I love the metaphor you've used, love as a form of destruction. One of my personal favourites! It compares cannibalism to a deep, aching bond between soulmates.
Little Ale Spills (what you could improve on)
There isn't much I would change about your poem. The only thing I could say is to maybe change a few words that are a bit simpler to some more ambitious synonyms- for example,
Enthralling Performance (best bits and lines!)
Your rhythm is on-point, and I feel the whole poem flows very nicely from line to line. A highlight I want to focus on is the line
<quote> Pay no attention to my stagnant breath <quote>
The use of stagnant really adds to the mental image of a still body- this and describing the heart as "unpaced". You've used a really interesting semantic field of death and stillness that creates an unsettling visage of love.
Bardic Inspiration (a few parting notes)
This is very well written, from the initial concept of love as cannibalism and destruction to the pacing. To improve it even further, I would try and insert some more ambitious vocabulary, just to really seal the deal. Other than that, please keep writing poems like this! Awesome job
Cheers,
