16+ Violence

Act One: pacts left unbroken

Warning: This work has been rated 16+ for violence.

cycles

precipitation, evaporation, condensation

(the cycle repeats

flowing like rain in spring)

sublimation, transpiration, percolation

(my tears both vapor

and groundwater)

birth, live, perish

these have happened before

and will happen again

(but somehow this loop

is not forever

so i am not stuck like this)

fleshy fruit

what a peculiar plant this tree is

grows nothing but ropes

long

binding

never-ending

ropes

some use them

and breathe their last breath

under the shade

others

cut the rope

picking apart the fleshy fruit

a bag of skin bone and blood

hoping to end the vicious cycle

ing-tion-ed-ly

gratifying

mortifying

tantalizing

(justifying what you claim is right

and what is wrong)

mortal life never ceases to amaze me

motion

explosion

extortion

(transition to that fated letter

the one where you made up your life)

the way you chased me, cat and mouse

whined

chimed

inclined

(find that one moment where

it was just you and i)

slowly,

i float up the stream

slyly,

i burn your letters

decivingly,

life is not as easy as it seems

(like a jester

but nobody here

is royalty)

~
like my hopes, smashed to fine dust

somehow i ended up in a room,

staring at my reflection

my reflection looked weird

"hello?" i screamed

knowing nobody was with me

my reflection waved,

although it felt more somber

than it felt llike a reunion

reliving my fears again

i am scared by it

"Hello." it said

i then knew it wasn't me,

and i shattered the mirror

like i shattered my hopes

so many years ago

~

schooled

water = hydrogen ×2 + oxygen

and chemicals make me sick

far too bored of history

yet spanish can't quite intrigue me

back to english it is then

back to writing poetry

~

mirrorerror of the mind

my mind is odd

forever seeming like

my words define my person

looking in the mirror i do not see myself

i see through it

behind the reflection

lies my broken soul

just more mirror errors

of which i must put up with

~

until it becomes hushed again

TW SUICIDE

long live

tired days

where i

double doubts

(and i ask myself,

who was in my mirror?)

and so i look

forward to the days

where i can simply

take away my problems

(while there were three of us,

you always acted like there were two)

which leads me

back to three

luckier than two

worse than four

reduce to one

(all while i sit here,

mourning the loss of nothing & no one)

which

leaves

me

to

take

one

more

thing

(so life becomes silent)

~

mint style poem with the parentheses

so tired of this body

tired of accepting that

rotting and dying will be

inevitable

(i do not miss these musings

but they kept me awake)

and so walking into the river

a disfigured mangled body

(and death is permanent

like scribbles with ink)

writing words that mean nothing

blood is just ink

the river a canvas

(my body is a brush,

applying ink to a canvas

because mortality is finite)

so someone had to say it

because coming terms with life

is harder than coming to terms with death

(and i will die over and over)

~

another parentheses poem

revenge is a dish best served cold

but if that is the truth

how would one serve revenge warm

(and why do i feel strongly about it?

who am i to serve revenge at all?)

time is running out

so space is walking in

(and fate is ascending,

while chaos is nowhere to be found)

if you can't say something kind don't say anything at all

(so then how do i escape reality

and all it's greater evils?)

love is first sight

(so hate is second?

why love is idolized

is something i never understood.)

i was meant for you

(but not forever)

fate is on our side

(and luck is our foe)

but somehow i feel

that we were meant to be apart

(after all why

would someone i am supposedly

linked to hurt me so bad)

~

thoughts

i missed your words dearly after you disappeared

it made me think about who you were

and who i was for you

a clump of clay you could mold

a living breathing reflection of you

and i hate it.

i hate always being you.

so when i made a joke,

and was no longer you

you left me,

like i would have left you

~

really, truly

who are you reflection

why do you pretend to be me

i see a face that is not mine

instead i see a mold of a past self

i look at the mirror and watch as

blood

drips

down

down

down

from the shards it makes

my reflection laughs at me

so i know

that it is really me

~

Hello, My Friend!

I hope you're doing well this day or night! It's me, Raven, and after perusing the Green Room, I found this lovely collection of poems and wanted to leave a review! I don't usually use my Familiar method for poetry, but boy, this piece gave me a lot to sift through and a normal comment would look like chaos (LOL)! Let's dive in, shall we? Heh heh heh…

What The Black Eyes See...

Ah, where to begin? The many pieces within this collection cover a whole kaleidoscope of complex thoughts and emotions, broken down and formed into something beautiful. Something that can be seen as relatable in a plethora of ways. Let's get into the details though.

Where The Dagger Points...

Not much can go here! Content-wise, I loved every poem and I found myself drawn in with each new line. The only thing I could possibly recommend comes from a technical point of view. For example, proper capitalization and maybe some punctuation to help lines flow, like here:

i see a face that is not mine

instead i see a mold of a past self

i look at the mirror and watch as

"I"s aren't capitalized, and I think a comma for the first two lines -maybe even a semicolon for the first- would look nice. But of course, this is poetry and "proper" structure can be subjective. And of course, this is only my opinion and I am not a professional, so please take all of this with a grain of salt ~

Why The Grin Widened...

And for highlights or favorite moments...where to begin?

In "Cycles" I love the sense of eternity with the parallels you draw between the cycle of evaporation and rain, and the cycles of life and human nature. Very beautiful.

The very grim nature of "Fleshy Fruit" was eerie to read, with very dark imagery, but as a regular consumer of darker themes, they also had me captivated.

In "Ing-tion-ed-ly" I was very intrigued in trying to read between the lines, and I really liked these very clever end lines:

(like a jester

but nobody here

is royalty)

In "Like My Hopes, Smashed To Fine Dust," I love the ominous sense of fear in the reflection, which seems to be you, yet very much is not. The sense that something is wrong. And I loved this...

i then knew it wasn't me,

and i shattered the mirror

like i shattered my hopes

so many years ago

Beautiful and powerful, and the use of "hope" gives me the impression that it may be the image of something the narrator would hope to be, but whether through fear or another undefinable emotion, cannot, therefore shattering the mirror.

"Schooled" is quite relatable all around, only I was fascinated by history XD

"Until It Becomes Hushed Again" had quite tragic undertones, but it was definitely one that I felt had a sense of power to it, probably because -sad as it is- it's one of the themes in here that many can find relatable.

Again with "Mint Style Poem," this heavy subject is broken apart and restructured into something beautiful. I loved this section here:

blood is just ink

the river a canvas

(my body is a brush,

applying ink to a canvas

because mortality is finite)

In "Thoughts," I loved this section because of how true it is for many people, always at risk of being molded into a reflection of someone else instead of being able to mold themselves:

a clump of clay you could mold

a living breathing reflection of you

and i hate it.

i hate always being you.

Another great moment of reflection and a conversation with the self, provided in "Really, Truly."

And finally, "Language Is A Concept We Must Learn To Cope With." The title is pretty self-explanatory, and the poem is lovely! After all...言語って、みんなが何かしらで共有してる素敵なものだよね。

Spoiler
Cannot guarantee that was 100% accurate I am still learning, heh...

Our Mad Thoughts...

Overall, each of these poems was so brilliant, and together they form a powerful piece of art! You and @Spearmint did a great job with these! Thank you for sharing them with us! :D

WOW @herbalhour and @Spearmint!! This is so awesome, detailed and intricately put together! I love how there are different sections and how it’s carefully moulded-it seems old for some reason-ancient. It seems ancient in the sense that the wisdom and knowledge shared and the habits of humans have been told so magically. The suicide ones especially, they convey something every person experiences but some to huge degrees that lead ultimately to death.
Insecurities.
Every person, has at least one even if they think they’re perfect or even if they’re known to be always the “golden child” or “perfect”. Nobody is perfect. Some people learn to accept or move on from their biggest insecurities and fears but some don’t. They don’t get any support and or they feel:”Who am I to be in pain?” “Who am I to be depressed or anxious?” “I am not allowed to feel this way!” “I’m perfectly finee! “
This is what everyone says! Overall, I LOVE this! I can’t wait to read more!!!

thanks coffee! i wrote thw poems-- i just got these prompts from mint! more acts are in my book 1 folder

Yes I read as many as I can but in the politest way possible%u2026if I read all of them today I might not live to see tomorrow they are so long and filled with interesting debates I%u2019ll go crazy not being able to write them all down and read all of it! I will read all of them and list everything I want to say though! At some point-
