Deseven: the contractor part 1

The End is the Beginning

Part 1

The Midnight Rain[b]

It was a start of a new night.

It was like any other night

The lamp posts buzzed with a shadowy halo.

The rain came.

Distorted figures walk on the streets.

And the ghastly shadows of houses took to life in the heartless night.

It was a mistake. It was a mistake from the beginning. He should have known that it would end up like this. It was too late however. There is nothing that they can do now. They will catch him. They always do. He will be caught, trialled and put to the place where every criminal’s fate lies.

It was not the bustling and entanglement of the discovery that had alerted him and scared him but the silence that was around the house. Did someone go inside?

Then why is no one answering? There must be someone who went inside but how?

He had checked the window all day. He had never seen anyone coming unless…

He dashed downstairs. He passes the main room. He passes the kitchen and the garden until he moves to the hidden door that lies behind the garden shed. He opened the door and …

It was like time had stop and the world stop spinning.

Pinpoint on his head was a pistol. Holding it was a person he could not recognize. The person had worn a black and pink hoodie and leather pants. On the corner of his eye, he could guess and picture the lab destroyed in every way. His partner is not there. He could not see him but he knows that he is dead. The person holding the gun murmured something under his/her breath.

But he did not care.

The next thing that happened was a loud bang and the buzzing of neighbours fussing what the noise was all about.

It was just another night.

The distorted figures came out of the blue.

The mocking shadows had took their reign on the streets

But the reality around them was nothing more than a tiny change.

Part 2

The empty Glare

It was another night. She saw the dark sky that reigned over the sky. There were few tiny stars in the night that added to the effect but it was useless. It was raining. The clouds covered it all. The blue moon was covered in a haunting glow and the clouds shifted around the sky. It was a failure. Watching the night sky was a hobby. She had anticipated that one night, it would be there. She does not need the reports to destroy her surprise just her determination and likeness. For tonight, it was just another night. There was no meteor shower.

She sat down on her bed watching the night sky from her bed window. The night light shine through it and the silence of the night despite the tapping rain gave a weird and chanting atmosphere.

She cannot sleep. Not when her first interview was to be tomorrow. She had always anticipated it and prepared for it. Ever since she had stayed here for the past five months and taking a few number part time jobs, she was slightly nervous- as if she felt nervous. She sat up with her hand on her knee.

She enjoyed the silence and the empty glare of the night sky. It made herself being just herself. There was nothing more than that she could wish for an important day such as tomorrow.

Her room was neatly decorated and in order. Not a speck can be seen. Covered in a bluish tone, that was her calmness. She cherished it. It is a new life for her.

She had dealt with the past. She had tried to solve the past and even if she could not, she had tried to erase nearly every problem from it. No one can find about it. No one can disturb it. This plan would be proper.

And tomorrow is a bright new day… and a new life.
