i.
on
rainy days my favourite thing to think about
is
the way your breath might feel on my hair,
and
how maybe, if it were you, i'd like the touch for once.
ii.
i
spend most of my time wondering
if
you'd help me cut out little paper angels
and
hang them from fishing line all around my room
so
that they could stay there and watch over me
when
you're gone, and i can't tether myself to anything anymore.
iii.
my
favourite memory of you will be
when
you're not a grey space in my mind anymore;
i'll
know because the dead line in my chest
will
give rise, and your eyes will give me whiplash.
i'll
know, because these things are sacred
and
when i close my eyes, i feel like i know
how
your chest would rise and fall in time to mine.
iv.
i
am not supposed to dream about these things.
i
am my own person; you are not my other half.
i'll
keep dreaming though, with my fingers crossed
so
tightly that my knuckles turn white and crack.
v.
i
just hope that you'd be able to help me find
what
they're telling me was me all along,
because
i always thought that it would be you.

(Your Icon picture cracks me up! XD) Anyways *coughs* back on track. I really like this, it's well organized, and also how it's set up, first you write about well you, then that certain thing thou remember, of you like, or you dream, or you hope always lead to this special someone. I don't know if it is personal or not, but if it isn't the damn well written then XD, you can feel each stanza with its own individual emotion, it's like they have personalities, which is amazing. Your imagery was beautifully flawless, and the diction gave you this warm, yet raw feeling kind of like, bitter sweet love (if that makes since) Anyways I really enjoyed this, it was entertaining and astounding, and I hope to read more soon! Rock on my friend!
Hey Isha
This has a lot of nice imagery, but I feel that the two things you're going for in this poem— independence and dependence— are unequally weighted. You have three, arguably four, stanzas for wanting a romantic love, and part of one stanza that's the reverse.
You're extremely personal, here, and it adds such a rawness to the poem that it's messy and beautiful and hard. From having heard you talk I recognize these images as very much yourself, which is what makes this poem actually come to life.
I think my biggest issue with this is how the title is relatively disconnected from the poem. For me, it implies the reverse of what you actually have: talking about forging your own identity outside of others, but always yearning for someone else. You imply a much stronger duality than you actually deliver.
Overall, I love this, but I'd like to see the duality punched up more. Expanding the poem to include more about who you are alone, and how you're trying to build yourself alone, but there's always this empty space that you want to fill with someone, because it's nice to share who you are and it's nice to have that feeling. Maybe keep some stanzas purely one or the other, because the angels one is honestly lovely on its own.
Right now, it's a little short and a little one sided for your motivation and the title. If you balance it out, then you'll have a much stronger poem.
You know where to find me.

Quite beautiful, might I say. Either a lost love, a forbidden love, or a love that has yet to be found. All very sad things partnered with the beautiful emotion that is love. It's hard to tell because "my favorite memory of you will be when you're not a gray space in my mind anymore." Makes it seem as though this person has yet to be found "I am my own person; you are not my other half." Makes it seem as though you are trying to convince yourself the person you are referring to can't be right for you. "Because I always thought that it would be you." Makes me believe that its a lost love that hurt you. Of course it could also be seen as two halves to one whole, so to speak. One half being told they don't need their other half, that the other half doesn't exist. However despite being told this they still look and hope for that other half. The only problem I have with your poem is the lack of capitalization. Again beautiful poem, keep calm and write on!!!! =^_^=
Capitalization isn't necessary in poetry, btw. Lack of it can have a certain mood. These articles go into the reasons behind capitalization or lack thereof.
Thanks for the explanation violet!!!! =^_^=
