I am your saviour, I am your killer,
I power your cities, I wreck your cities.
I give life to your crops, I make them wither and die,
You have conquered me, yet you have not.
-
I freeze you solid, I boil you alive,
You have harnessed my power.
But you are scared of it too.
I take your lives, but I give you life.
-
People beg for me, people loath me,
People care for me, people don't care for me.
I care for you,
I kill you.
-
What am I?
I am water.

Interesting, the entire time I was reading this, I was certain this was about God or some other divine entity, but I laughed when I realized how wrong I was! I can tell this was for fun, because I certainly had fun reading it!
Hey there! joallover here for a review on this wonderful Review Day for team Mazarine Marauders!
I have lots of things I could say about this piece. I love the concept, but it was lacking some things.
For me, it didn't have that lyrical influence for me. I found your format was a little benign for my taste, although it could have just been the word choice.
The concepts of this is great, I believe, though, that you could use some different word choice. Reword some of your sentences, such as
"I power your cities, I wreck your cities."
"I take your lives, but I give you life."
I understand, in these phrases, the repetition is intended, but I believe it would sound exuberantly better if you found another way to describe your thoughts, or else have repetition a little more, such as in a specific line in each verse. That way the repeated words don't sound off and odd to the reader.
Look at me, I'm being repetitive with the word repeat. Oops.
Another thing I disliked was the bluntness with no feeling. Again, I understand the intent, I just find it creates a sense of...bore? I'm sorry, that sounds harsher than intended but you understand. Works like this are created to cause a sense of understanding, conflict or fear in the hearts of the audience. I didn't find you accomplished any of the above.
You have a good thing going for you in things like this, although it could be stronger overall. Keep writing!
Peace Love and Fahrvergnugen!

This is a really cool poem
I'm proud of myself- I guessed what it was abut halfway through.
Still, it does make you think about what water can do to people.. very clever.
I really enjoyed this.

Thanks!
I haven't seen a poem done in a riddle type way. At the end I literately slapped myself going "DUH!"
This poem is very original and well written. Your grammar is perfect and most of your lines were really good.
For me my favourite lines have to be:
But there was something that put me off this poem a little:
Don't get me wrong it is a very good line however the repetition of 'cities' just threw me off a little.
All in all a nice unique poem that had me guessing. Great job!
Thank you for the review and follow!
Hi Alex! Cheetah here to review for you!
Wow! I really enjoyed reading this. Water is really like that, I've realized. It can save you, kill you, help you, destroy you. Very well done.
My favorite stanza, by far, was this one:
The finality in this poem was great. I also loved how you found so many ways to portray water's personality. I also like how you made the very last line bold. Excellent finishing touch.
The only thing I would suggest is maybe changing up the words in some of the lined so they're not the same. Ex: Changing it to something like, 'People care for me, people long for me to leave.' might give the poem more depth.
That's it! I really liked this. Keep writing!
I agree, as always, thanks cheetah!
Welcome!
This was done rather well.

I like the title. (It caught my eye right away)
It was a great way to really work the brain to try and come up with what this object could be that you were depicting in your poem.
I think it was a great topic to choose, and very unique. I mean, it's not everyday I go to read a poem and get greeted by a brain teaser.
"I am your saviour, I am your killer,
I power your cities, I wreck your cities.
I give life to your crops, I make them wither and die,
You have conquered me, yet you have not. "
By far, my favorite part of the poem/brain teaser. It really got me thinking, "What could save me, but kill me?" I think you did very well on this entire poem.
Critique: I think there could've been just a little more variety.
Overall, this was done vey well. I can't wait t see more from you! Keep up the amazing work.
This is pretty good, great grammar and i think the riddle idea is very cleaver.
Although i would add more description to this, like when your talking about the killing i would get into more detail there , and when you talk about life i would use something powerful like "you can not live without me." Overall i think this is pretty well written
Veeery nicely done indeed. I like it!

This does make a lot of sense too!
Your descriptions are well done and we can understand what you mean.
I'd suggest breaking up or changing the line:
"I take your lives, but I give you life." Perhaps changing "life" or "lives" to something else, like, just one of the life words so it doesn't repeat. And the same thing with this line...:
"People care for me, people don't care for me." and: "I power your cities, I wreck your cities."
Just to give it some more variety and better to visualise!
Overall, great piece of work, I like this sort of poem!

Thank you both for that feedback!
