Pretense

Pretense is deception.

Easy to execute,

Hard to maintain.

Hey, yo, chancesnchanges! Strange here on this fantastic day and I have a review for you!
Cool, I used to be an aficionado on short poetry so I know how you're doing this. The point of short poetry is to make it 1. Short. 2. Effective. The whole jist of it is to make it powerful, pack a huge punch. You have the perfect idea to wrap short poetry around it, so I give you props for that. But, it isn't just the idea that makes short poetry good, it's the delivery. Did this deliver? Let's jump in.

The use of bolding and italicizing is a cool technique. I like it. It can be quirky and overall beneficial. For the first part, it was good. It helped me get the idea that you're going about. Pretense is deception. You helped emphasize that the first line with the technique, so that was cool. You're putting it straight forward and no way around.

However, it lost me in translation the last line. Why exactly was maintain crossed out? I can get an idea, but I'm not sure. You can't leave a reader confused in this case. In a standard poem, they would look at other lines to piece it together. Since shorter poetry is a lot more limited, the readers can't do that. It is rather difficult to find out what the point is when you're dealing with three lines.

The message was sent across. Not fluently, sure, but you delivered it. I, for one, love poetry that can be complex yet simple when it comes to theme. I'm not sure I'm feeling that with this one. There's nothing left to wonder about it. I just read it and understood it. That's both a bad and good thing, to be honest. Good as in its not over technical, bad as in that I want to think more.

Good job, keep writing, and sat groovy!

Thank you for your review and for your suggestions to improve my work :) I'll take that in mind. Also, maintain was crossed out because of it's literal relation to deception. It doesn't last long. Hoping to write something where you can ponder on :)

Wow, meaningful words for such a short piece.

First, shouldn't "note" be capitalized?

Also, I understand why "pretense" and "deception" are bolded and italicized, but why is "easy" italicized, and "maintain" crossed out? That might be confusing for the readers.

Otherwise, this poem rings true in every situation in which these kind of things occur. It has just the right words to describe pretense. Keep it up!

Thanks for the review :) I just have a thing on small letters o'-'o
Easy was italized because it gives a bit of emphasis for me. Hence, maintain was crossed out because of it's literal meaning in deception. It doesn't last long. Hope this eased your confusion :)

Hello! XD This is Bam here to do an awesome sauce of a review!
Well for starters I think you might have missed a word. Between "surrounded" and "These". That word is "by". >> "note: This is what I've been surrounded by these past few days." I really like how you have this set up and your word choices. Kinda has an impact to it.
