Rage

by Veni

The rage in his eyes,

Blood lust spreading like fire in dry grass

The glint of red dawn denied from echoing on his sword, so smeared it was in blood

He is forgotten if he was fighting over land, title, reprisal, money or woman

Irrelevant excuses for the ultimate sport

The manhunt

So timeless

Elitism

Jumping onto the next pedestal

Gold in a pile of iron

Not stuck on the magnet

I love things like this because it doesn't give a lot of detail. You are free to think about the character in any way you want. He could be a soldier. Or a mercenary, or even one of your favorite tv characters from old times. The title really grasps your attention. Its simple and elegant. It might be just me but it reminds me of the hulk. Just getting lost in rage and focused on one thing and one thing only. Carnage. This is a metaphor for other things in life too, I play football so for me the sword is kind of like my shoulder pads. It was great and I really got something out of it. Great work.

I like the emotion that you portray and the way that you leave the reader with many options as to how they chose to interpret your piece of work. I also like the varying length in lines which I think you managed to pull off beautifully.

Critiques:

1. ' He is forgotten if he was fighting over land, title, reprisal, money or woman ' - Did you mean to write 'He has forgotten...' or is this intentional?

2. I think this could do with being a bit longer with perhaps a few more emotional words to bring about a fuller feeling to the piece.

3. Also, to help add some atmosphere and tension, I would recommend adding some full stops (.) or commas at the end of some of your lines to give pauses. These would have a particularly good affect on some of your shorter lines.

4. The last line seemed a bit detached and confusing, could you maybe link this into your piece more? Or could you go without it?

Overall, I liked your piece very much and it was a pleasure to read.

Hiya Veni, I'm here to review this poem of yours, let's take this line by line c:

1. "The rage in his eyes," Good start. But I find it better to start out a poem with a broad topic instead of straight to the point. But that's just me! If you don't agree, don't even read this.
2. "Blood lust spreading like fire in dry grass," Alright, lust means sexual desire, so adding blood on the front isn't right. You may think that you can add blood in front and change the definition to a desire for blood. Lust has a specific meaning, so use a different word? c:
3. "The glint of red dawn denied from echoing on his sword, so smeared it was in blood" The first part of this line is perfectly okay, but after the comma, you need some re-wording. And I can't re-word it for you because I have no idea what you were /trying/ to say.
4. "He is forgotten if he was fighting over land, title, reprisal, money or woman" Change the "is" to a "was," since the rest of your poem is in past tense. And add another comma after "money."
5. "Irrelevant excuses for the ultimate sport" I'm a bit confused by this sentence, and most of this poem, really. Try re-wording, as I said before, to appeal to all audiences. So uh, ya.
6. The rest of this poem is way past me, and I have no idea what any of this symbolizes, if anything. If it doesn't, I don't know what it means. And it has nothing to do with rage past line 4. I'm sorry If I'm offending you or anything, but this is just my opinion. But nice use of the word "Elitism." Kudos for that.

May your travels through space and time be merry,

-xJ ❤︎

There are a lot of interesting phrases and word choices but there are some awkward sentence structures disrupting the flow of your poem.

'so smeared it was in blood' this line sounds funny.
'He is forgotten if he was fighting over land, title, reprisal, money or woman' This one too sound a bit funny.
I think adding punctuation may make it more powerful and help the flow of the poem, but that's all stylistic preference.
Over all well done you had nice phrases just needs a little touching up.
