Life In Full

In Things I Particularly Like

Laces tied.
Hair pulled back.
Music starts.
The only thing I feel
Is the pull of the rhythm
And the creaking of hardwood under my shoes.
This is what I'm meant to do.
My bones tell me to move.
My heart tells me to jump.
My spirit aches for the light of the stage
And the feel of the floor under my moving feet.
I was born for this
And going back is like coming home.

Hi there, just going to do a little review.

I like reading this poem, going back and reading the title and then your username. Aha! A lightbulb goes off in my head. Lol.

My bones tell me to move.
My heart tells me to jump. - My mind feels like these two lines should be reversed, to help with the flow, rhyme and rhythm from the previous line.

I love how it begins simply and then leaps off the page when she takes flight in her dance, and the wording is still simple, but yet poised and written elegantly, like a ballerina dancing. Each word adds to the next to create a perfect routine.

Bravo.
