Renan Ken, you look my way
I see a light, so far away
A shining light that you have made
A light that lures me farther astray
Renan Ken, the day begins
The dawn had broken about me
My eyes are open, now I see
I know now nothing of thee
Renan Ken, my time’s begun
About me shines the flaming sun
A fire all see, deep inside me
The fire of my faith in ye
Renan Ken, the sun is up
Brimming in me is life’s cup
A cup of freedom, with a hint of lime
A hint that has stayed for all time
But bittersweet is my life now
I feel a doubt upon my brow
Are you there?
And if you are, then where, oh where?
A wall is growing, covered in vines
From it comes a subtle rhyme
A sound that draws me deeper in
Into a life only formed by men
Oh, Renan Ken, now the sun is heightening
I see it now, fringed with lightening
I feel lost inside a hopeless maze
Stumbling about in a frantic daze
I search for something I deny
Something for which I hopelessly cry
None know of mine inner strife
But on my own you show me, true life
But still I close my eyes from truth
I look instead up to the roof
Screaming for something that lies there
Waiting in the very air
Renan Ken, the day’s half gone
The sand I live on’s moving on
I feel my life fall all about me
But still I force myself not to see
But in the end, we all do know
That whatever we do, the truth shall show
Run and hide, but it will find you
And crush your denial with an iron shoe
Dear Renan Ken, the sun is falling
The fear within me’s now so galling
My heart now wants to come back to you
I feel that ivy wall crack in two
Renan Ken, please help me now
A thousand sins lie on my brow
And yea, again, a thousand more
But I know I may still find your welcoming door
I lived my life, I hated you
But as the sun falls, my defenses do too
I am now open, a bleeding wound
For you to heal as I croon
I know that all that I must do
Is put my utter trust in you
For as the sun began to rise
I saw your light reflected in my eyes
And now that the sun falls at last
Your face returns to me aghast
‘My child what is it you have done?
You ran from me, but here you come’
I repent, I know that now
Better live a good life of lies
Than die a hopeless, heap of flies
For chance brings nothing when one dies
In denial I have lived
I now lay here, a loaf that’s leavened
Purged and cleansed
With hope inside me shining through a mirrored lens
Renan Ken, as the sun falls
Is it twilight that I see?
Or is it a new dawn, granted unto me!
But one that has no final day
Better for me to live that life
Even if it be a lie!
Than to live one in which I must die
To live one that makes me cry
Oh Renan Ken, I am here now
With arms wide you await me
First I bow
But I now know, that friends we be
That you are not my enemy....

I was hooked from the first line...just thought you should know.
^^ Thanks.
Impressive. I am not exactly the poetry-loving type, but this still lured me into the text.
I also appreciate how it rhymes, some "deep" poets think that rhyming is not necessary and limits the "genius" work, but I find it much more enjoyable with some kind of rhythmic tune. Not much helpful for the review part; I just wanted to put that out there.
Again, I found this powerful and steady. It has some great comparisons, emotions, and faint imagery to tie it all together.
Keep up the astounding work!
Peace out!
Hey, thanks!
It is appreciated!
I'm not the poetry type myself (I think any kind of embellishment helps!), so don't mind.
Thanks!
Wow, I really liked all the comparisons used throughout this poem. And really the whole poem was just a big metaphor or symbol. The fact that you were able to do this and make it flow and make a message shine clear as day is amazing. I also liked how you progressed through the times in a day to show time passing, that was a truly wonderful poem, six stars on a scale of five.
Wow! Thanks. . . . I never've really been any good at poetry! But I appreciate muchly this comment!
I really liked this.
