Death hits all of us in the most unexpected of ways and the most obvious of ways but in the end it all comes down to,Do You Believe? The question is a simple one and at the same time a complex one. Every point of view has its merit, but it all comes down to faith, that's the way I see it. The world is not a Christian world and some would argue that it never was and never will be. You can say that love is not divine and you can say that life is not eternal, all we have is now.......but I don't believe it.
There is a common phrase that everyone will voice when asked, what is the purpose of life. To be happy. That's what everyone says.....Disney...commercials....kids and even adults....they all say the meaning of life is to follow your heart's desire and be happy. The human heart is selfish, wanting only what makes it feel good, feel happy. So the next question is, are you satisfied? Have you found your happiness? Their answer? No,they're still looking for the one thing that makes them happy. Some people will turn to drugs, alcohol, physical relationships and artificial objects to fill that hole within them, that hole that just cannot be satisfied......to no avail. There's a God shaped hole in all of us, and the restless soul is searching. How many people have said they are still looking for that one thing, that one simple thing that makes them feel happy and satisfied? There's a God shaped hole in all of us and its a void that only He can fill.
I remember when I met a girl who came from an Atheistic background. She watched my family and me as we lived our lives, following our daily routine. She knew that there are ten of us in a small house with a small yard, knew we couldn't afford all the new things, only the used toys. And yet, we never cared. All of us would gladly give away our stuff to other kids and not even get upset. If cousins or friends came over we shared our toys and food and if something got broken it wasn't a big deal. Finally, one day,she asked me why oh why are we so content? So happy and joyful? What was different between the two of us,what did I possess that she did not? I answered her honestly.
We're not always happy and joyful. There are times when we aren't content and must remember to be grateful for what we have. It wasn't always harmonious in our house but we got through it. Our family always trues to keep the mindset, God will provide. When times get tight we pray through the experience, although rough,we make it through. Our treasures are not on the Earth but in Heaven which is what toys and such are of no big importance to any of us. Knowing God will always provide and knowing that when we die be it soon or late, painful or sweet,we'll be in our Father's arms; knowing that makes us content and satisfied to wait for Him. My God shaped hole is all filled up because I believe in my Heavenly Father. What's different between us? I believe in God, in the Holy Spirit,Jesus Christ. I believe He is waiting for the day to judge the living and the dead. That He died for me and will keep me forever safe. I believe.
Her next question was about death, was I ready to die at any given moment. My answer? Yes.
See, death will come no matter what. I don't care what you believe in death will come for you just as it'll come for me. The question is, do you fear death? Are you afraid to die and see what comes after? I used ti be terrified of dying since I saw a lot of it. But now I'm not afraid to die because I know where I am going. Heaven. If I die after publishing this, I'll go to Heaven. If I die a slow death, a painful death a fast death it will not matter for I will go to Heaven. Paradise, where perfection is key. Not many people have the satisfaction of knowing where they're going after death. Some believe we don't go anywhere, we die and that's the end of it. Others believe in reincarnation, limbo and nothing. I've met quite a few people and my own relatives, who, when asked where they were going after they died, answered with, I don't know. The lack of comfort and knowledge of my final destination would bother me.
I believe in God. I believe He made everyone and everything living and breathing. I believe there is a God shaped hole in all of us that only He can fill. I believe in life everlasting, love eternal and a God who loves us all,no matter what and wants us to love Him back. I believe in the Bible, in communion and Holy baptism. I believe.,...,... Do You Believe?

This is beautiful.
I am Catholic and also believe. But as everyone is their own individual, I believe some parts and do not believe other parts. Or in other words i disagree with some parts and agree with some others. I believe in Jesus Christ and how everyone should be happy. I think our own happiness is not selfish and we are not born to be selfish. We are born to be happy, survive, and help out. When I think of it we are all living and surviving on the same planet. As humans. Maybe our purpose is to spread the Kingdom of God, or maybe it is to simply be here as we are? Maybe there is no purpose and we just create a purpose for ourselves because our brains are complex and people need the security of knowing why and cannot live in fear of the unknown. If we were really all just created to live here, whether by god or by evolution I'm not sure. I feel like religion is a safe haven and a good place to be because it helps people and makes everyone happy, but we created it. We are all the same organisms yet we created different things called religions and beliefs seperating all of us from each other. Are we not supposed to all just be? This article of yours is very powerful and you did a very good job. I also am starting to think about the end of your essay about death. You are correct in my eyes when you say we should not be afraid of death or scared of it, but yet we still are. It is the fear of the unknown, again, and people cannot live with that fear so they think of those listed things such as heaven and incarnation. I am still growing and not sure what i fully believe in yet because i question everything, but your writing has definitely sparked my mind to think about all of it. Those are all just my thoughts on the topic because i am just writing how i feel write now. But i think you did a great job writing this and please continue to do what you do. These essays that have an argument or question or challenge to think about are definitely worth the read and grabs a readers interest like mine. Cannot wait to read more of what you have in store in the future!

Hello there!
I'm not Christian, though I am religious; care for a review? c:
So I agree, to an extant, that finding the creator is probably one of the best ways to find happiness. However, you seem to think it's just the Christian creator that provides happiness, when in fact, many people of many faiths and beliefs are quite content, as well! Now obviously, if you believe in one thing, then you're going to think that the other things that other people believe around you aren't quite as good, or true as your own- because you probably wouldn't believe that if you didn't.
Let's pretend for a minute that all religions, faiths, beliefs, opinions (religious or not) are all right, and true. Just for a minute. Now let's take a closure look at them; why are we all in those different positions of thought and belief? I think it's because we believe them, and because they make us happy! Of course, not all of the times are people that are in certain belief systems happy; sometimes they're forced into it because they're still kids, sometimes they're guilted into it (cults are a terrible, terrible thing). My point in this is to say that not everyone that's in religion is happy, and not everyone that believes things other then from a religious perspective aren't happy. My grandma, for instance, has lived an incredibly happy and full life as a semi-Christian; aka she goes to church but doesn't really believe in a creator, or can't really grasp the concept of one, or just doesn't really need any more religion then that simple church attendance every week.
So to answer your question; Yes. I do believe. But I also believe that we're all on our own paths and that it doesn't matter how you get close to the creator be it through your job, your family, nature, or your colourful hair; everyone finds happiness in different ways. I'm glad you've found yours! ^_^
Keep it up!

I'm not quite sure what this was trying to achieve. Was this trying to convert me or was it just random preaching? Also, what I got from this was that you think that all non-christians are a certain way. Tip: don't post religious stuff on here, because it will very likely offend some people and you will get angry reviews. I'm just being blunt here. Cause I was sort of offended. Have a nice day.
Not my point buuut OK. This was just a question, a question,Do you believe? No conversions,no arguing not preaching either. Just a question is all. But thanks f9r the review
Hey, rebelwriter. I'm Cat, and I'm here to review your essay!
I would like to point out just one thing that your essay could use a little revision on.

As an atheist, I find the whole "God-shaped hole" thing rather hard to swallow. I totally love that you are happy with your beliefs and I swear I am not trying to offend you, but never once have I actually felt like I needed a deity of any kind in my life to make me feel better. I have not felt any kind of difference between me and my Christian friends, or any other people I know, because of belief. I am very happy being atheist and I would like to understand why you assume I want and need to be saved. I feel no "hole" that you talk about. I know that everyone dies, I have accepted that, and I am currently trying to do my best to enjoy the time I have, be it a day or a century. Am I dissatisfied? Not really. The whole argument is kind of based on a faulty idea.
So, no disrespect intended. But I would like to know how you think about this. Peace!

This wasn't meant to be an argument, first off. I wasnt trying to say everykne who isn't a Chrisitan is unsatisfied. God shaped hole is a song lyric, that's it. As for my personal opinion, then last paragraph, what I believe js my opinion and belief. Thanks for the review,I'm experimenting with different writing styles
