Maybe poems aren't read
as much as they should
because “they've all been read before”
What could be new
in a sea of the same
which “couldn't possibly have something more”
~
They're all called “poem”
“A poem about this”
“A poem about that”
Most have got rhythm
and most have got feelings
like anger sorrow and bliss
~
They repeat what they say
and what they are
over and over
and over and over again
But when is it new
When is it special
~
If stories and poems are based off of lives
are lives based off of poems
Do they shape us like we shape them
Are we our own writing that breathes
and walks and listens
~
If we are poetry
does that mean we're all fundamentally the same
Are we rhythms and patterns that live and die
Repeating the cycle again and again
Then why
do we try
~
Why do we try to be different
It’s like each one of us wants to be special
And yet we want to blend in
What a conundrum
A paradox
where we want to be special while fitting in
~
Maybe it’s the same with poetry too
Poems use different words
by different people
with different feelings
But they are written
They are spoken
They are told
and they are loved.
They’ve been with us since we were in the womb
just waiting for us to find them
just waiting for us to look around
and listen
~
Poetry is not rhyming words written on a page
It is the story of us
and what we imagine might be crawling in the dark
What we think and what we hear
What we are
and what we aren’t
~
This isn’t a poem
It becomes a poem
when you read
and listen from the heart.

Hey, Orabella! It's Serrurie, here to leave a review! Let's dive in:
The Good Stuff
- All of the talk about the 'same old, same old' stuff commonly found in poems and then turned into a poem is a very unique concept. Poems often deal with the same emotions over and over, but this was really unique because it addressed just that.
- Secondly, your rhyme scheme and rhythms were on point. You have a very good beat and the rhymes throughout this were awesome!
- My favorite part <3:
I feel like that part is so true because if I write sarcastic or romance characters or something I automatically start to think like them and it's honestly crazy seeing how my mind warps for each character I write the most/recently
This was a great poem Orabella! I hope you continue to write and pursue what you're best at <3.
Happy writing, and have a blessed day!
Serrurie
Aww thank you Serrurie! Also, just hi! I feel like I haven't talked with you much, but I've seen you around a lot, and it means a lot to me that you decided to write a review on one of my silly little poems. ^^ So, hello and thank you!!!

Hey friend! Ellie stopping by with a quick review for one of your fantastic poems! I was looking for something incredible to read, and so I decided that stopping by your profile was a great place to start… And it was! Let’s jump right into this review.
to me, this poem really touches on the topic of “what’s the point of writing if it’s already been written?” Or “what really is poetry?” I loved it. You explored it in such a cool of way. You ask some really big questions, such as questioning if poems are even unique or special since it seems like everything has been written before. I really like the statement you made about how we shaped poems but poems also shape us.
I love how you look at poems, as if they are almost like humans. You don’t just see them as words on a page or a count or font or black ink, you treat them as if they have their own lives, their births, their exciting days and their sad days and eventually their own deaths. This quote above was probably my favorite. You talk about how poetry is been with us since we were in the womb. Poems are actually there the whole time they’re just waiting to be discovered. This was so beautiful!
AND THIS ENDING! This was absolutely gorgeous! I think you touch on a subject that can be hard to wrap your head around. You touch on what poetry really is. It’s not just an end product, but it’s what we make it to be, it’s when we feel it with our hearts that’s what matters.
Overall, AMAZING POEM! Keep on writing <33
Your friend,
Ellie
Hiii Ellie! Thank you so much for your review! I was not expecting it, and it really made me smile.
I'm glad you liked it so much, and you totally got what I was trying to convey through it. Thanks again! ^^
Howdy hey! Gengar here to leave a review! Thanks for requesting me, sorry it took a little bit

General Impression:
Oh wow, this poem is very emotional and brings up some very good points! I kinda didn’t expect it to go from a criticism of poetry to an analysis of the human condition. Nice!
What I Liked:
I liked the use of literary devices to get the point across. Like the repetition (“a poem about this” / “a poem about that”) and imagery (“Are we our own writing that breathes / and walks and listens”). These make your main point feel very strong and gives it a deeper sense of meaning
Areas of Improvement:
One thing that I think would improve the poem is adding punctuation—more specifically, question marks. I think it would make the emotion more powerful. Here’s an example of where you could use question marks:
I hope my review could be helpful. I wish you a good day/night!

Hi there! Thank you so much for the review!
It didn't take long at all! In fact it was quite quick! I usually expect a review within a week if I request one, but you did it in a day!
This was very helpful. Thank you so much for your review! ^^
Youre welcome! Im glad i could help
Hello Ora! This is probably the quickest review turn-around I've done seeing how you just posted this! One of my goals for the weekend is to earn 3 stars so your "Not Called Poem" poem / not poem will be a part of that! I hope you're hungry because I'll be serving up my favorite cookie: Oreos!
For the first cookie 🌑: we will discuss the positives because who doesn't like to hear the good things first? Your contemplative exploration of the nature of poetry is thought-provoking. The questioning of the perceived redundancy of poems and the challenge to find novelty in a sea of familiarity is an intriguing perspective. The repetition of phrases like "over and over" emphasize the cycling we can inhabit like a merry-go-round of creating. Your stanzas and how each line is structured not only enhances the readability of this piece, but adds to your messages. There is rich vocabulary here with paradox and conundrum standing out.
For the cream ⚪: I usually reserve this for suggested ways to improve works. For many, this part of an Oreo is their favorite, but isn't it maddening when things are reversed? I fail to find anything about this that fails. There are no spelling, grammatical issues. We will make this double stuffed! More positives I say! Your use of rhetorical questions enhances in a way that made me think of answers between the lines with no one choice fully answering. It had me thinking about how life and literature interact. The recognition of the paradox of wanting to be both special and blend in adds a layer of complexity. This had me also thinking of my own role in this paradigm.
These lines stand out most:
For the last cookie ⚫: like all good things, even cookies, come to an end, we summarize. Your piece transcends the conventional definition of a poem. This "not poem" evolves into a contemplative muse of poetry and its connection to being human. The metaphorical portrayal of lives as poems, both repeating cycles, and the conundrum of individuality within a collective desire for sameness offers subtleties and a nuanced perspective. The concluding lines beautifully redefine poetry, emphasizing the heart's role in transforming words on a page into a meaningful and personal experience. We are, in fact, poetry and this not-poem-poem is poetry on steroids. Nicely done.
Wishing you well wherever you are in the world!

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much ariah! This made me smile sooo big.
You said I have a rich vocabulary, but it seems you do more than me! All your words mean so much to me, and I absolutely love what you said and that you took time to review my silly little not-poem poem. Also, your Oreo idea is really creative! I love the way you structured that.
Thank you again so much. This has truly made my day. ^^
